Daydream Medallions Card & Envelope

The Day Dreams Medallions stamp set coordinates perfectly with the Floral Frames Framelits and makes this card easy to create.

day-dream-medallionsI saw this card in the Stampin’ Up! catalog and wanted to create a version of it.  It is hard to see in the photo but the card front is actually a window – cut with the framelit.  And the flowers are stamped and layered on the inside of the card front.  In order to accommodate the large image the card is a square 5″ x 5″ card.  Since our regular envelopes don’t fit I created my own envelope using a piece of Designer Paper and my Simply Scored and Diagonal plate.

day-dream-card-enve

I know you’ll want to know a little more about making the envelope so here are some measurements for you.

  • The card is 5×5 finished size.
  • The Designer Paper is cut to a 8″ x 8″ square.
  • use the Simply Scored with the Diagonal Plate – place the paper in the corner and score on all four sides diagonally at 3-3/4″.
  • square-enve-templateOn each side the score lines will overlap and form a small triangle – cut those away.
  • Then fold on the score lines.
  • dsp-square-enveFold in two opposite sides.  And some adhesive to the bottom triangle and fold it up to create the envelope.
  • Slide in your card.
  • You can make the top flap sticky by applying Multipurpose Liquid Glue and let it dry completely- this forms a repositionable adhesive on the flap.  The Two-Way glue pen works the same way.

Have a great day!

New Possibilities for Clearance Items

You can now add clearance item to any order – including workshop, class and club orders.  We still strongly recommend that customers order clearance items on online orders or workshop orders via a hostess code to guarantee availability.  Because clearance items are only available while supplies last, it’s possible that the item will not be available when the order is actually submitted, making it necessary for me to contact you so that you can find an alternate item or risk possibly affecting the hostess benefits.

In the 2013-2014 annual catalog, we offer the Stampin’ Write Marker New Color Kit (item 130034, page 163) to help you update your Many Marvelous Marker pack. Now, we’ve sweetened the deal. For a limited time, from June 26 until October 31, you can buy any of the new colors in the pack or on their own! Go ahead, fill in the missing pieces in your collection or buy the whole lot. Individual markers available in Bermuda Bay, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Island Indigo, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, Smoky Slate, Soft Sky, Wisteria Wonder.

Sent with Love Mini Scrapbook

At the Stamp, Scrap & Create Escape Retreat we had four Make&Take projects for everyone that attended.  The groups rotated through the stamping sessions to complete the four projects.  One of them was the fun mini scrapbook made with the Sent with Love Designer Paper and stamp set.

smash-book-open

The front and back cover are made from the Natural Composition Specialty Paper (you’ll find it in the new catalog too).

The inside pages alternate between envelopes (that create pockets) and card stock.  The binding is the Sent With Love Designer Paper.  Decorate with the stamped images, punched images and card stock.  Finish with some Baker’s Twine tied around the front.

smash-book-1smash-book-2smash-book-3

The envelopes are pockets and inside each one is a piece of card stock that was embossed and cut to create a decorative edge.  I cut the flaps off of the envelopes, but if you think you want to close the envelope with a closer and some twine then leave the flaps on.  You can hide secrets in there 🙂

smash-book-4One more fun thing on these is the faux “tape” – I cut strips of Vellum card stock – stamped on them and then punched the edges with the postage stamp punch and it looks like tape.  Adhere just one side and then you can took a photo under it and it will looked “taped” but won’t really be.

Today is the last day that you can order the Sent With Love items – either individually or as a bundle – so be sure to hurry before they are gone!  These will be fun to have for scrapping some travels this year.

MainAd_SentWithLove_DBWS_Feb_NAYou can order on my website – www.monika.stampinup.net – click the SHOP NOW button on the side of my blog and it will take you to the store.

Pillow Gifts at the Retreat!

Pillow Gifts are so much fun!  What are pillow gifts?  It is something that Stampin’ Up! does – not sure about other companies.  On the incentive trips that the demonstrators earn Stampin’ Up! pampers them with little gifts that they normally leave in their room in the evening and often on the pillow – so I guess that is how they came to be called “pillow gifts”.  When we go to convention and other events we usually bring gifts for our roommates and also leave them on the pillow.  I finally earned my first incentive trip this year (the Hilton Head trip that I went to in September) and yes the pillow gifts were the most exciting part – after dinner everyone wanted to go back to their rooms and see what Stampin’ Up! had left.  So of course for the Stamp, Scrap and Create retreat I wanted to pamper everyone and give them special “pillow gifts” – but since everyone wasn’t spending the night rather than leaving them on their pillow I left the gifts at their “spot” in the crafting room.

The retreat theme was focused around the Sent with Love Designer paper and stamp set – if you haven’t purchased these yet you better hurry – they are only available through April 30th!!  One of our make&takes was also created out of these and I’ll share that tomorrow.  It’s a great set and paper to use in your scrapbooking.

Well on to the pillow gifts – here they are:

pailWhen everyone arrived they had this little pail on their spot.  Each one has a chalkboard vinyl cutout with the Oval Framelits.  I added a banner that was made with the Sent With Love Designer Paper and then tied a piece of chalk to the bucket it has a little wrap of paper on it too.  These worked out perfectly because everyone carried them around to the Make&Take stations throughout the weekend.  Their adhesive and scissors fit inside and anything else they wanted to corral into one place.

Friday night after dinner they got this little treat.

jelly-bean-tubeA little tube filled with Jelly Beans and decorated with a tag made out of the Sent with Love Stamp set and matching designer paper.  I stamped the images and punched them out with a 1″ circle punch and added them to the tag.  A little treat that was “sent with love” to everyone that came to the retreat.

I got up early Saturday morning and got breakfast ready and then snuck downstairs to leave a new little pillow gift on everyone’s spot. This is what they got.

washi-tape-container

I used an empty button container and decorated the top with card stock and a flower – the stamp is from the A Round Array stamp set – and I stuck with the same colors that are in the Sent With Love designer paper.  Inside the container was a roll of Washi Tape – each person got a roll from the Epic Day pack.   The stamp set and Washi tape are both sneak peeks from the upcoming catalog.  I added the “you make me smile” stamp because they all make me smile and I was so happy that everyone came to this retreat.

Saturday night was a special treat that I put out while everyone ate dinner –

pop-n-cuts-box

I made a cute little box using the Pop ‘n Cuts base die and the Sent with Love Designer paper.  I stamped some of the images from the matching stamp set, punched and cut out the pieces and added them to the front of the box.  Inside was a three pack of Ferrero Rocher chocolates!  A sweet treat “special delivery” to end a wonder Saturday of crafting.

And lastly on Sunday morning I left everyone a final “pillow gift” to say thank you for coming.

petite-pocket-pearlsA cute little Petite Pocket made from the Sent with Love Designer Paper.  Wrapped with some Baker’s Twine and some little tags from Tiny tags – I used “thanks so much”, “hand crafted”, and “friends”.  Inside each pocket were some of the Jumbo Pearls.  Just a fun little gift for everyone.  I’m sad that the Petite Pocket Die, the Tiny Tags stamp set and the Jewelry Tag punch are all on the Stampin’ Up! retiring list – so hurry and order them now before they are gone!  I love making these little pocket for so many things.

I know everyone loved all the little surprises and I loved make them and giving them!  I can’t wait to plan the next retreat – I’ll have dates soon so you can mark your calendar and be sure to join us!

This & That Memory Jar

I love this project – it is a memory jar.  Throughout the year you right down all the things big and small and put them in the jar.  Then at the end of the year you can pull them all out and see all that happened in one year. You could add tickets stubs from events that you attend throughout the year.  Or other little pieces of memorabilia.

memory-jar-front

I think this project would be easy to adapt to a variety of things – how about wishes for a couple getting married or advice for a new mother, or baby’s memories from their first year.  I used several pieces from the new This & That product line.  Here are some more details and photos –

  • Cut a strip of the Epic Day This & That Designer Series paper to wrap around the jar and use the Washi Tape to secure it in the back.
  • Punch a circle of the Designer paper to cover the lid – for my jar the 2-1/2 circle was the right size.  For a wide mouth jar I think the 3″ circle Bigz Die is the right size.
  • Tie a piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine around the jar – folding a paper doily in half and over one pass of the twine and let the rest of the twine go over the top of it holding it against the jar.  Tie a bow.
  • Punch a Blossom Punch from Calypso Coral card stock.  Using the matching piercing template, pad, and piercing tool to pierce around the flower.
  • Punch a piece of Pool Party card stock with the 1-1/4″ Scalloped Circle punch.
  • Punch a piece of Calypso Coral card stock with the 1″ Circle punch.
  • Stamp an image from the A Round Array stamp set with Calypso Coral ink on Whisper White card stock and punch out with the 7/8″ Scallop circle punch.
  • Color a Jumbo Rhinestone with a turquoise colored permanent marker to make it a light blue color.
  • Layer all those piece to create the flower focal point for the front of the jar.  Add to the front of the jar with Stampin’ Dimensionals.memory-jar-close-up
  • Use the Epic Day Rotary Stamp to stamp the word Remember – punch out with the Word Window punch and add to the front of the jar.
  • Add a silver button with a glue dot.
  • Tie some Baker’s Twine through the large Faceted Button and add to the front of the jar with glue dots.
  • I printed out the poem and cut it down and then layered it on a piece of Basic Gray card stock.  I attached this to the back of the jar with some of the Washi tape.memory-jar-back
  • Inside the jar – I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock into 16 pieces (just 1/2 it, then 1/2 each of those, and 1/2 each of those, etc.)  – I used one for the stamping on the front of the jar and the rest go inside the jar.  Cut more card stock when you fill those up.  memory-jar-inside
  • I decorated a clothes pin with the Washi tape and clipped the blank cards to it.
  • As you fill out one of the cards you can use the rotary stamp to add a date and/or message to each card.  Read on for some tips with the rotary stamp.memory-cards

I did some practicing with the rotary stamp and have a few tips that you might want to try.

  • I used a marker to color the stamp or parts of the stamp that I wanted to use.
  • Use a tissue or piece of paper towel sprayed with some stamp cleaner to clean the part that you used.  I think this works better than trying to clean it on our big stamp cleaner.  I just wiped it off when I was done.  You don’t want to turn the dial and forget to clean it so just do it right away after you stamp.
  • Since each dial rotates individually I found that there was some unevenness across the stamp if you were using the whole thing – a saying and the full date – sometimes one section wouldn’t stamp – if you use the Stampin’ Pierce mat under your paper it worked better.
  • practice some on scrap paper so you get the feel for stamping it straight and not leaning one way or the other.
  • these are some of the things that helped me – hope they work for you.

The idea for this project came from one of the Stampin’ Up! designers.  I hope you love it!  I sure do!

Thanks for visiting today.
