For many of us the best part of a Retreat are the Pillow Gifts. Wait – what is a pillow gift? Well it is something that I learned from attending Stampin’ Up! events. If you have the opportunity to go to a Stampin’ Up! incentive trip or other special event they leave gifts for you each night on your bed – so everyone calls them pillow gifts.
That idea spilled over to regular events where roommates bring each other gifts when they room together at a Stampin’ Up! event. And then it’s been carried over by many into retreats – where you get little gifts left on your table throughout the weekend. I still tend to call them pillow gifts even though I don’t actually leave them on everyone’s pillow. At my retreats I leave them on everyone’s table through out the weekend. Just little fun surprises to delight everyone! I love to create them and I think everyone loves to receive them!
I thought I’d share with you the pillow gifts from my Spring Retreat –
Pillow Gifts from the Spring 2018 Stamp, Scrap & Create Retreat.
- Magnetic personalized wooden letter
- Tiny treat box with a chocolate truffle inside
- Silver Gable box with Silver Baker’s Twine inside
- Multi Purpose glue and holder
- Cupcake box filled with a cupcake
- Notepad and pencil
Plus this time everyone received the pink bag filled with supplies that they used on their Make&Takes with plenty of stuff left over to do what they wanted. My next retreat will be this fall – be sure you are signed up for my email list so you will get the details when they are released. It filled up fast this last time!
I had cupcakes made to coordinate with the Sweet Soiree Suite which is what I used for the theme the whole weekend. They were supposed to look like the cupcakes on pages 10-11 of the Occasions Catalog. The full suite of products is shown on pages 12-13 and quite a few things are retiring – so make sure you order them now before they are gone at the end of May!
Supply list for the cupcake boxes:
- Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper (retiring)
- Mini Pizza boxes
- Window Sheets
- Cake Soiree Bundle (the bundle is retiring but the stamp set and dies will be in the new catalog)
- Berry Burst Metallic-Edge Ribbon
- White card stock
- Calypso Coral & Berry Burst ink
- Circle Framelits

Aug 10, 2017 | SU Pillow Gifts, SU Ribbon, Watercoloring |
This was a quick and easy project that I made for the girls on my SU Demo Getaway weekend. I was shopping in the Target Dollar Spot one day (well maybe they don’t call it that anymore) and saw some fun pencils that looked like our SU colors – they were Emerald Envy, Blushing Bride and Basic Black. I picked up a bunch of them to use as a little “pillow” gift for the getaway weekend. Here is what I did with them.
I put three pencils in one of the 6×8 cello bags and stapled it shut. The pencils are about as tall as the bags so I pushed them to one side at the top and stapled as close as I could get so that it would hold them in there.
Then I wanted to decorate the bag with a fun tag. I decided the Pick a Pattern Designer Paper was a perfect fit and grabbed one of the Emerald Envy patterns and one of the Basic Black patterns – I cut those into strips and punched with the Triple Banner Punch. I also cut a strip of Blushing Bride card stock and punch the end of it. I stamped on the card stock with the Pieces & Patterns stamp set. I also grabbed little bits of ribbon in the coordinating colors – Emerald Envy Crinkled Seam Binding, Blushing Bride Double-Stitched Ribbon and some Black Mini Sequin Trim. I stapled all those together at the top of my bag.
To finish the tag I stamped a bunch of the bears on Watercolor Paper and water-colored them in with some Sahara Sand ink. Then I fussy cut the bear and attached him with a mini Stampin’ Dimensional.
Aspen was helping with the bears!
Not really he was just sleeping next to me and I wondered how many bears I could lay on him before he noticed. The answer is 6 – just 6. Then he looked up at me like what is going on here.
I love fun pencils and have lots of different ones. I pretty much write everything in pencil – because then I can erase mistakes or when things change. My calendar would be a mess if I didn’t write things in pencil. Do you use a pencil or mostly write with a pen?
Have a great day!

Pillow Gifts are so much fun! What are pillow gifts? It is something that Stampin’ Up! does – not sure about other companies. On the incentive trips that the demonstrators earn Stampin’ Up! pampers them with little gifts that they normally leave in their room in the evening and often on the pillow – so I guess that is how they came to be called “pillow gifts”. When we go to convention and other events we usually bring gifts for our roommates and also leave them on the pillow. I finally earned my first incentive trip this year (the Hilton Head trip that I went to in September) and yes the pillow gifts were the most exciting part – after dinner everyone wanted to go back to their rooms and see what Stampin’ Up! had left. So of course for the Stamp, Scrap and Create retreat I wanted to pamper everyone and give them special “pillow gifts” – but since everyone wasn’t spending the night rather than leaving them on their pillow I left the gifts at their “spot” in the crafting room.
The retreat theme was focused around the Sent with Love Designer paper and stamp set – if you haven’t purchased these yet you better hurry – they are only available through April 30th!! One of our make&takes was also created out of these and I’ll share that tomorrow. It’s a great set and paper to use in your scrapbooking.
Well on to the pillow gifts – here they are:
When everyone arrived they had this little pail on their spot. Each one has a chalkboard vinyl cutout with the Oval Framelits. I added a banner that was made with the Sent With Love Designer Paper and then tied a piece of chalk to the bucket it has a little wrap of paper on it too. These worked out perfectly because everyone carried them around to the Make&Take stations throughout the weekend. Their adhesive and scissors fit inside and anything else they wanted to corral into one place.
Friday night after dinner they got this little treat.
A little tube filled with Jelly Beans and decorated with a tag made out of the Sent with Love Stamp set and matching designer paper. I stamped the images and punched them out with a 1″ circle punch and added them to the tag. A little treat that was “sent with love” to everyone that came to the retreat.
I got up early Saturday morning and got breakfast ready and then snuck downstairs to leave a new little pillow gift on everyone’s spot. This is what they got.
I used an empty button container and decorated the top with card stock and a flower – the stamp is from the A Round Array stamp set – and I stuck with the same colors that are in the Sent With Love designer paper. Inside the container was a roll of Washi Tape – each person got a roll from the Epic Day pack. The stamp set and Washi tape are both sneak peeks from the upcoming catalog. I added the “you make me smile” stamp because they all make me smile and I was so happy that everyone came to this retreat.
Saturday night was a special treat that I put out while everyone ate dinner –
I made a cute little box using the Pop ‘n Cuts base die and the Sent with Love Designer paper. I stamped some of the images from the matching stamp set, punched and cut out the pieces and added them to the front of the box. Inside was a three pack of Ferrero Rocher chocolates! A sweet treat “special delivery” to end a wonder Saturday of crafting.
And lastly on Sunday morning I left everyone a final “pillow gift” to say thank you for coming.
A cute little Petite Pocket made from the Sent with Love Designer Paper. Wrapped with some Baker’s Twine and some little tags from Tiny tags – I used “thanks so much”, “hand crafted”, and “friends”. Inside each pocket were some of the Jumbo Pearls. Just a fun little gift for everyone. I’m sad that the Petite Pocket Die, the Tiny Tags stamp set and the Jewelry Tag punch are all on the Stampin’ Up! retiring list – so hurry and order them now before they are gone! I love making these little pocket for so many things.
I know everyone loved all the little surprises and I loved make them and giving them! I can’t wait to plan the next retreat – I’ll have dates soon so you can mark your calendar and be sure to join us!

Thank You Stampin’ Up! for a wonderfully relaxing Getaway Trip to Hilton Head Island, SC. Greg and I really enjoyed the trip and the time away on no particular schedule. I posted a few quick posts with some pictures why were there but I wanted to wrap it up with another post and a look at what we did during our few days away.
This post has some pictures and what we did on Thursday after we arrived.
This post has some pictures from Friday.
This was our pillow gift on the last night – Stampin’ supplies in a plastic case –
Here is what we got inside –
The Postage Due clear stamp set, Fan Fair Designer Series paper, Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette ink pads, Island Indigo Baker’s Twine and Ruffled Ribbon, Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake Seam Binding, and a package of the Designer Vintage Faceted buttons. Everything this weekend has had the Polka Dot Fabric and cute beach themed tags tied around it.
I put together a couple of two-page spreads in My Digital Studio showing some of the pictures that I took over the weekend.
Here are pictures taken at the Westin Resort where we stayed – views looking out to the beach and ocean, views of the pools and statues through the resort.
And this last layout were pictures from two of the places we went to visit – on Saturday we drove down to Sea Pines Plantation and stopped at South Beach and then went to Harbour Town. We climbed to the top of the Lighthouse, walked around the Marina and ate lunch at the Crazy Crab. Then we stopped at the Baynard Plantation Ruins. On Sunday as we left Hilton Head Island we stopped at the National Wildlife Refuge at Pinckey Island – I took pictures of the wildlife and scenery as we walked around – we probably did about a 2 mile walk.
And look at these birds that we saw in South Beach – Macaws – the blues ones are Kiwi and Cherokee, the scarlet one is Captain.
It was a nice weekend and I’m slowing getting back in the groove here at home. I’m working on prepping for a vendor table at an all day scrapbook crop on Saturday and then a scrapbook and stamping consignment sale next week.
Alright – time to get off the computer…..

Hello from Hilton Head Island, SC! We are here at the Stampin’ Up! Getaway Trip!
We arrived Thursday afternoon. Just relaxed in the afternoon – got our bearings at the resort, took a short walk on the beach, and checked out the pools, visited the SU hospitality table – they have bikes for us and we’ll be going to get those in a few minutes, went to dinner at Hudson’s on the Dock at sunset – very pretty, and we saw some dolphins too, came back to the hotel for a card swap – and wrapped up the evening doing not too much.
I have a few pictures to share including our Pillow Gift from Stampin’ Up! There was a knock at the door right after we got back from dinner and this is what the guy handed me –
It’s a canvas Lands End bag with the Stampin’ Up! logo rubber stamp on the front.
Here are a few more pictures – I have others I need to get from my phone to my computer so I can post those too. But my battery is running out and my internet access seems to be on a timer and counting down – so I’ll just post these now and try to come back later with more.
sunset view during dinner at Hudson’s on the Dock
Greg at the swap with me (bonus was the free box of Girl Scout cookies – they were having a fund raiser in the ballroom next door).
SU demos swapping (we can’t go anywhere without swapping!).

See you later – we are off to ride bikes….
