Word Play Owl Card

Today’s card uses the Owl Punch – I just love that Owl punch! – and the Word Play stamp set.  I created another card earlier using the same to items and basically the same colors – you can see it here.  I needed another card using the Owl punch from Stampin’ Up! but didn’t want to use the same one so I came up with another one.  Here it is:

We made this one in my card clubs the last couple of weeks.  The colors are the Stampin’ Up! In Colors – Pear Pizzazz and Peach Parfait.

I wanted a matching envelope but since the card was basically all punched I wasn’t sure what to do to decorate the envelope.  I finally decided to use the grass from Inspired by Nature and then added the little butterfly from Charming – it gave it an outdoor look to go along with my owl.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • Card stock: Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip,Whisper White
  • Ink: Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, Chocolate Chip
  • Stamp sets: Word Play, Inspired by Nature, Charming
  • In Color Patterns Pack Designer Series Paper
  • Owl Punch, 2-step Bird Punch, 1-3/4″ Circle Punch
  • Stampin’ Sponges, 2-way glue pen

Let’s play some more Bingo…..

It’s BINGO TIME!  We are playing Round 3 of Monika’s Blog Bingo.  I’m currently taking names for Round 6.   See this POST for more details on how to join, how to play and the Round 1 and 2 winners.

Here is piece #4 –the words “hand crafted” from the Tiny Tags stamp set (stamped in Pear Pizzazz).

Have Fun!

Mary Kay Pink

Think Pink….. Mary Kay Pink.

One of my friends is a Mary Kay consultant and she just bought a Stampin’ Up! Big Shot Die-Cut machine.   She asked me if I could help her come up with some ideas for her MK business.

This was my favorite one.  It is a Medium Cello bag filled with MK samples and then I created a topper.  The topper is the Top Note die – cut one from Blushing Bride card stock – score in half “hot dog” style – the long way.  Then cut a top note from Basic Black card stock – and trim off the stitched edging.  Score in half and glue on top of the pink one.  Staple the topper to the top of the bag.  Add a piece of Blushing Bride Poly-twill ribbon – if you position the staples well you can cover them with the ribbon.

I hand wrote “Mary Kay” with a white gel pen.

I also tried a couple of box ideas using the Box #2 Die but I didn’t like them as much as the cello bag idea.

We played Bingo at my Stamper’s Club meeting last night – the girls had fun – I gave away one prize and then they wanted to play some more just for fun.  So here we go for today –

It’s BINGO TIME!  We are playing Round 2 of Monika’s Blog Bingo.  I’m currently taking names for Round 5.   See this POST for more details on how to join, how to play and the Round 1 winner.

Is anybody getting close??

Here is piece #7 –small butterfly from Charming stamp set (stamped in Poppy Parade).

Thanks for playing along!

Owl Tags

I’m back with more Owls!  But I didn’t make these for this project.  These are my double duty owls.  They were originally on the picks on my cupcakes for the Open House I had earlier this month.  Read this post.

I told everyone to keep their owls off of their cupcakes and use them for another project.  So that was exactly what I did with the ones that were left.  I re-purposed them into tags.

The owls were done in the new Stampin’ Up! In-Colors so the tags of course are color coordinated with the owls.  I cut a piece of 3×3 card stock to match the owl.  I used the So Many Thanks stamp set up in the corner.  And added a strip of the matching In-Color Designer Series Paper at the bottom of the tag.

I used this batch of tags for a group of orders from a workshop I had recently.  And the hostess got a special gift from me – one of the Play Date shopping bags that we were able to buy at convention this year.

I have my tag on the plastic bag that contains her order and the shopping bags came with their own owl tags already on them.

I hope she likes it!

Today is Tyler’s birthday – he is 17.  We will be celebrating with dinner tonight.  Last night we drove down to GT to pick up Kyle so he could be home.  Greg will drive him back tonight after dinner.  So the whole family will be back together for at least a little while today.

It’s BINGO TIME!  Today we are starting Round 2 of Monika’s Blog Bingo.  The players have been finalized and all Bingo Cards were emailed out yesterday so we are ready to play.  I’m currently taking names for Round 4 – there are a few spots still left.   See this POST for more details on how to join, how to play and the Round 1 winner.

Have a great day!

We have a BINGO winner!

I received this email on Friday morning:

I have Bingo!

I do … I really do!! Diagonally, starting in the lower left corner, or the upper right … whichever way you choose to review.

I have Bingo! I’m SO excited!

Carolyn

Congratulations Carolyn!  I confirmed the Bingo on her card and I will be sending out a prize to Carolyn next week.   The prize this round is a Melon Mambo Classic Ink Pad.

Thank you to all the Group 1 players for playing along.  I hope you had fun.  I will be emailing out Bingo Cards to the Group 2 players on Saturday – 8/28.  I’ll start calling pieces for Group 2 on Sunday 8/29.

Group 3 is now full and I’ll start taking names for Group 4 next.

Here are the rules for playing Monika’s Blog Bingo (I reserve the right to adjust the game if necessary):

First since I plan to mail a prize to the winner you need to live in the US (sorry if you don’t but the prizes are SU product in most cases).

Second: I created 16 cards so I’m going to have 16 people play in each round and I hope to do multiple rounds. ( I know I said 15 to begin with but I miscounted and starting with group 2 there will be 16 players).

Third: You need to email me at [email protected] with Monika’s Blog Bingo in the subject line and tell me you want to play.  I need your name and your mailing address (so if you win I can send you a prize).

Fourth: I will email you an image of your Bingo card – each card is unique and I will have them numbered so I know which one you have.

Fifth: After I have all 16 players I will post a Bingo Piece each day on my blog – so you have to keep coming back – it will likely be at the end of my regular post for the day – and if I don’t have a regular post it will just be by itself.

Sixth: I will post Bingo Pieces until someone has Bingo – you must have 5 in a row – across, down, diagonal – just like normal bingo and once you have Bingo You have to email me that you have – send the email to [email protected] – subject I have Bingo!.  I will check your card against the pieces that have been played to make sure you have Bingo.  And if per chance there is more than one on the same piece, I will pick the winner by the time stamp on the email – first one wins after verifying the Bingos.

Then I’ll mail the winner a prize!

A couple more things on how I am playing this game:  Only one group will play at a time.  If you are playing in a current group you cannot sign up for any other groups.  Once your group is finished and if you did not win you can sign up for another group and play again.

I hope you’ll play along with me!  Is everybody ready….

Let’s play Monika’s Blog Bingo!

Group 1: Winner Carolyn from NC

Group 2: cards will be sent 8/28, play begins on 8/29

Group 3: full

Group 4: full

Group 5: taking names – see rule 3 above.

Owl Notes

Hey everyone!  I hope you had a great weekend.  I had a fun stamping class on Friday and a quiet Saturday morning (I was home alone – all the boys were gone).  Sunday afternoon we went to Georgia Tech for the New Student Convocation – Kyle is an official Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket with his very own Rat Cap.  I know the Rat Cap is an old tradition but some how during the years that I was there I don’t think they gave one to every freshman like they do now – I don’t think I every had one and Greg doesn’t remember having one either and neither of us remember going to the Convocation Ceremony.   I’ll post a couple of pictures probably tomorrow.

On to a stamping project.  I saw this cute little project at the airport while we waited to find out about our canceled flight.  I didn’t actually get one of these but a demonstrator I met at the airport was nice enough to let me see hers and take pictures.  It was the cutest idea and I don’t know who made it.

It is a mini post-it note holder.  I made a few modifications from the original one that I saw but it is the same basic project.

The holder is cut from the Stampin’ Up! Two Tags die using the Big Shot Die-Cut machine.  This is the tag that folds over.  I also used the Big Shot to cut the letters for “notes” using the Billboard Alphabet Sizzlit Strip die.

The front is decorated using the new Owl Punch (can you tell I really like this punch) and also the Bird punch for the branch.

We made this in my class on Friday and in the morning class I told the girls that I didn’t like the little hole showing from the tag but I couldn’t decide what to do with it.  Someone suggested that we cover it with another leaf punch and that is exactly what we did.

I decided to add the post it notes on the inside with a hole so they could go on the ring – I was afraid they would fall out otherwise.  I know in my purse they would.  The swap that I saw just had them attached on the inside but not going through the ring.  I took a normal sized mini post-it note pad and split it into four pieces – so this is 1/4 of a pad.  The Crop-A-Dile will punch through it and the card stock tag with no problem.

I added some of the Peach Parfait Ribbon to the book ring.

It’s a cute little project don’t you think?

Are you ready for Monika’s Blog Bingo!  I heard yesterday that one person had all 4 pieces called so far but no Bingo yet.

I am continuing with Round 1 of Monika’s Blog Bingo.  Round 2 is full and I’m taking names for Round 3 right now  which is close to being full too.  See this POST for more details.

Here is piece #5 – the cupcake image from the Itty Bitty Bits stamp set (stamped in Poppy Parade.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Owl – Convention inspired

At my Stampin’ Up! Open House event on Saturday I had a few Make & Take projects for everyone.  One was this card using the new Owl Punch – I had already made all of the cupcake owls so I thought it would be fun to use one on a card too.

If you went to the Stampin’ Up! Convention this card may look a little bit familiar.  It is based on a card that Heather Summers Demonstrated on stage during one of our classes.  I used the In-Color Designer Series Paper for mine and she used various colors of card stock for hers.  A few minor differences but basically the same card that she created.  I think everyone liked this card.  I demoed the same card at Becky’s workshop on Sunday and everyone there loved it too.  This little owl punch is going to be very popular!

If you want to play BLOG BINGO with me – see this post for the details.  It will be fun so don’t miss out.  BINGO UPDATE: Round 1 is full so I’m taking names for the second round.

And for those of you that were at my Open House and saw Jennifer (9 months pregnant!) she had her baby on Monday, August 16th at 2:26 pm – Shelby Jean was 5-1/2 pounds and 18-3/4″.  Everyone is doing well.

Thanks for stopping by.
