Fall Foliage Core’dinations

Just a quick post for today showing this pretty fall card using the French Foliage stamp set and the new Core’dinations card stock.

This card was not my idea – but right this minute I can’t find where I got it from.  I’m pretty sure I copied it pretty close to the original one that I saw.  I thought Pinterest would help me find where I get ideas from but this one I didn’t see on my boards so I’m not sure where it came from now.  The card base is Crumb Cake and then a layer of the new Core’dinations card stock in Early Espresso – it was embossed with the new Woodgrain Embossing folder!  And then I sanded it just a bit more – it really looks like wood!  The stamped piece used French Foliage and I used the Rock ‘n’ Roll technique on the leaves – so ink in one color and then roll the edges in another – so on here I have More Mustard with Cherry Cobbler, and then Cherry Cobbler with Early Espresso.

Lots to do today – tonight Cindy and I are having an intro class for My Digital Studio 2!  It’s going to be fun.  I’m making little cupcakes and picks to go in them like I had at my Getaway Party.  Oh speaking of which I got a UPS notice that I have a package coming from the company that organizes the Stampin’ Up! incentive trips.  That must mean something is coming for the Getaway Trip that I get to go at the end of this month!  Now to patiently wait until UPS delivers it on Monday!  I wonder what it will be?  And if you happen to know – don’t tell me I want to be surprised!

Create with Connie & Mary CCMC213 – sketch challenge

Yep it’s time for a new challenge at Create with Connie & Mary.  This week we have a sketch challenge for you.   The great thing about a sketch is you could apply it to more than just cards – it could be a scrapbook page, or the front of a box or journal.  When I see a sketch I always think about the different things I could do with it.  This week I was actually working on some Thank you notes to send out to customers and friends for helping me with my June goal to get 50 orders of $50 and earn the Stampin’ Up! Getaway trip.  Well we did it and I owe not only thank yous, but gift certificates to a class and invitations to a celebration party.  I wanted to include all of this in one package.  I have the gift certificates made (I used My Digital Studio for that) and the party invitations but wanted a cute little thank you to include as well. So I thought I could use the sketch for my design for the thank you.  Here is the card I ended up with –

And here is what the sketch looked like
So this is actually a 4×4 card.  But what I’m going to do is seal the bottom and left and it will become a pouch with a side opening.  I have long envelopes for these to go in.  Then in the side I will insert the class gift certificate and the party invitation.  Here is what it looks like as a pouch with the other things inside –

All the supplies are listed below – come play along with us this week and lets see what you can do with this sketch – surprise me.  I can’t wait to see what you create.  Visit Create with Connie & Mary and submit your creation for this weeks challenge – each week 3 top creations are selected.  Each challenge is open for a week.  And then a new challenge will be issued.

Lacy & Lovely – Create with Connie & Mary

We are all back from convention – and it’s time for a new challenge at Create with Connie & Mary.  This weeks challenge CCMC211 is a sketch challenge.  I was prepping for a class on Monday and decided to use this sketch for that and get two things done with one card.  And then I added to my Card Maker’s club last night and it was very popular there too – now I’m almost out of So Saffron card stock – I better put that on my next order.  Here is the card for you –

Here is the sketch so you can see what I started with to get to that –

As you can see I turned the sketch on its side.  And really love how my card turned out.  I used the Lacy & Lovely stamp set which I got at convention in my I am Creative bonus class on Wednesday night.  It’s funny that I never really noticed this set in the catalog but I really like it and the fonts on the words are just lovely – I guess that is why they called it that.

All the supplies are listed below – come play along with us this week and try your hand at this sketch.  I can’t wait to see what you create.  Visit Create with Connie & Mary and submit your creation for this weeks challenge – each week 3 top creations are selected.  Each challenge is open for a week.  And then a new challenge will be issued.

Almost Artisan – Summer Smooches Card

This should be card number 5 from my Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team entry.  And it was literally the very last thing I made before I mailed my entry in.  In fact I had a different card ready to go and then when I was preparing for my scrapbook class that week this idea crept in and I made it in the morning right before mailing in my entry.  My creative juices sometimes flow better at the last minute….

I like how this card turned out fun and bright.  This one is 6×3 that I submitted to the contest.  I made some more of these as 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 cards for my Starz team swap today.  There are 3 columns of squares on those instead of 2 columns like this one.

I came up with the cross-stitch idea one night while working on a scrapbook page – I realized the ribbon border punch made the perfect base to pull the Baker’s Twine through for a cross-stitch effect.  The colors are bright in the Summer Smooch Designer Paper – Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo – there are a few more in there but those were the main ones that I used.  Here is a view of the inside of the card.

I hope you like it!

Almost Artisan – Bobble Head Card

The thermometer is nearly at the top!  Yeah!  Thank you to Dana, Merri, Stacey, Lana and Bethany.

Today’s card is a fun one.  It was my second card for the Artisan Design Team contest.  It is a Bobble-Head card.  I came up with the bobble-head card a few years ago – my first one was a dog card.  So this time I decided to try a frog and fly.

The frog’s head and the fly both bobble around when you move the card.  Here is another view.

This is punch art with the head attached to a brad that is put through a hole and left loose so it will wobble.  The card is layered with dimensionals so the brad can wiggle around underneath the top layer.  Here is a view from the side –

The top layer is stacked on double high dimensionals to give it space.  There is lots of sponging, punching and piercing to put this card together but it sure is fun.  To create the woodgrain look of the fence background – drag the ink pad across the card stock – starting and stopping in different places.  Then add little “nails” with the Stampin’ Write marker.

I figure no one else had made anything like this and that it was a unique idea.  Moveable cards are fun aren’t they?

Have a great day!

Domestic Goddess Floral Fusion

So here is one more card for you for today – this one is a card idea from Mary Brown – that would be Mary from Create with Connie & Mary – I was on their design team a while back for some of their online classes.  The link should be in my side bar on my blog.  I know they are doing weekly challenges and I need to try to do some of those.  This was one of Mary’s cards for one of the challenges and I thought it was so cute.  I have just now started using the Domestic Goddess Designer Series paper and there is only one more day that you can order it from the catalog.  Why did I wait so long? Well I guess I should show you the card –

I always forget about the little Floral Fushion sizzlit die – and for a few dies I thought it was on the retiring list – but its not – phew….. but of course some of the other supplies used for this card are on the list – you have the rest of today and tomorrow to place an order from this catalog.  Then on Friday June 1st will be the transition to the new catalog – we can start ordering at 2 pm our time.
