Aug 27, 2020 | Cards, Masculine, Paper Pumpkin |
Are you ready for some alternate ideas with the August Paper Pumpkin Kit? It’s time for our monthly A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop. A blog hop filled with alternate ideas using contents from the monthly kit. This month our kit is – World’s Greatest. A kit with some fun cards to celebrate some everyday hero’s in our lives like teachers, coaches, kids and our friends.
This kit makes 3 different cards with fun matching envelopes – that’s always one of my favorites! One card style is a shaker card.
I decided to mix up the pieces and cut up the card bases for the two cards that were not the shaker card. By cutting each of those card bases into 4 pieces I can create 8 cards instead of just 2. Here are two new cards that I made.
Blue card
For this card I wanted a little bit more of a feminine feel to it. Cutting up the blue card base into four pieces allows me to make 4 new cards. Each piece is 2-3/4 x 4″. I added Thick White Whisper White card stock for a new card base. You’ll also want some more medium sized envelopes. The yellow water-colored rectangle was also cut in half and used on this card. I trimmed down one of the white rectangles to fit the words. For the little touch of ribbon use paper snips to cut a 3-1/2″ piece into small strips and then tie in a knot.
Supply List
The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:
- Card stock – Thick Whisper White
- Whisper White envelopes
- Paper Snips
Green card
For this second card I used the green card base and also cut it into 4 pieces. Trim one of the white rectangles to be 3/4″ wide and then I stamped the medal ribbon image twice so the end of it met in the middle – that part will be covered up. Use one of the vellum leaf pieces and cut it into two so one part can go on each side. To add a bit of contrast I did pull out a piece of Bumblebee card stock to layer behind that argyle piece.
Supply List
The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:
- Card stock – Thick Whisper White, Bumble Bee
- Whisper White envelopes
- Paper Snips
I hope you liked this alternate idea for the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.

Sep 17, 2019 | Cards, Masculine, Scrapbook Pages, Stamper's Club |
So I started writing this post way back in July! It was shortly after returning from the Incentive trip to Greece. But as you can see I never finished it and never posted it. Life happens. When we got back I was trying to spend as much time as I could with my son knowing that he would be leaving the country. So I let some things slide – like my blog. He left last week on Monday. He has been gone for 1 week now and I need to get my butt in gear and get back on track. So here we go…..
I have a scrapbook page and cards to share with you using the Come Sail Away Suite. I shared these on a Facebook Live video a while ago and you can see that here.
The left page of this two page layout was what my Stamp Club made for one of their projects back in July. And the right hand page was the one I added as part of my Facebook Live video. The bottom left corner is actually a card idea that I created for a swap and then decided that I wanted to base a scrapbook page on it.
Fun Fact: in case you didn’t know I grew up sailing. That was my sport from about 10 years old until I went to college. My dad and brother are sailors and my mom used to sail too. I grew up living in a sailing club on the lake. At that time there weren’t very many girls that were sailing. I always say that I grew up in a boys world and had to join Stampin’ Up! to find some girls to hang out with.
Supply List
- #147003 Neutrals 12×12 card stock
- #100730 Whisper White card stock
- #149481 Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper
- #151006 Sailing Home Bundle = Sailing Home Stamp Set + Smooth Sailing Dies
- #149483 Baker’s Twine
- #149482 Sail Away Trinkets
- #147110 Night of Navy Ink
- #147117 Sahara Sand Ink
Since not everyone in my stamp club is a scrapbooker I also give them the option to create two cards instead of the one scrapbook page. I utilize the same supplies. Here are the two cards from this layout.
The card on the left was the one I made for my swap card and that is the one that inspired the scrapbook page. You should be able to see where the second card is taken from the scrapbook page too. And you could also use that bottom right corner on the second page to create a card layout. I hope you like these ideas.

Jun 14, 2019 | Cards, Graduation, Masculine |
Here is a quick and easy card idea that would work for a masculine card or for a graduation. Just choose the colors that you need or want. It’s also a perfect way to use up scraps of designer paper strips. Sometimes when cutting layers I end up with skinny little strips of paper or card stock left over. This is the perfect way to use those up.
This particular card used strips from the retired Classic Garage designer series paper. The colors are Crushed Curry, Basic Black, Tranquil Tide, and Basic Gray. You could replace the designer paper with strips of card stock or a different designer paper. The stripes ont he envelope where done with the Stampin’ Write Markers and a ruler. You could easily switch this out for school colors and add a happy graduation greeting.
Supply List
- #151331 Itty Bitty Greetings
- #131202 Smoky Slate Color card stock
- #100730 Whisper White card stock
- Card stock or Designer Series Paper strips of your choice
- Stampin’ Write Markers to match
- #107301 Whisper White Medium Envelopes
- #132708 Memento ink pad Tuxedo Black
Thanks for stopping by today. This card was included in a Facebook Live video last month. You can view them here on my Facebook Page – click here.

Jun 12, 2019 | Cards, Designer Series Paper, Masculine |
I shared several masculine card ideas in a Facebook Live video last month. You can view them here on my Facebook Page – click here. Not all the products are available to order anymore but these ideas are easily adaptable to things you may already have.
So let’s take a look at them.
I used the Geared Up Garage Designer Series Paper for these but you could choose a different patterned paper with masculine colors and patterns or in some cases use solid colors of card stock. For this one I cut strips of paper and arranged them on a layer of card stock. I used the Happy Birthday die cut over the top of them all. There’s not even any stamping on this one. And for the inside just add a matching layer.
For this set I cut 3″ strips of the designer paper and added them to a layer of card stock. I stamped on a small rectangle of white a greeting. Tie some black cord around and use a knot instead of a bow for a more masculine feel.
This set again uses the designer paper and this time I cut out the cars from the paper. I stamped a greeting on a strip of whisper white card stock. It’s the piece that was left over from cutting the layer for the inside of the card. If you have the Geared Up Garage stamp set you could stamp and cut out the car with the die cut.
I think these ideas would also work to switch out the paper to the Come Sail Away paper. Maybe I’ll try that later.
Thanks for stopping by today.

May 10, 2019 | Big Shot, Cards, Designer Series Paper, Graduation, Masculine |
It’s graduation season! We have what I think is our last graduation happening today. Ryan’s is graduating with a Master’s degree from Purdue University. And we are so very proud of him. Today’s card is perfect for this occasion.
It’s easy to get a masculine feel with the Wood Textures Designer series paper. We’ve had this great stack of 6×6 papers in our catalog for the past two years. But now it is time to say good bye! If you love it be sure to order another pack before its gone for good. The Friendly Expression Stamp set is also on the retiring list. It has some nice big greetings in it and I’ve used it throughout the whole year for different things. I’ve been in a splattering phase lately – I use my Stampin’ Write Markers to get the splatter effect – sometimes you just need to add a little something and splatter can be just the right thing.

- #146673 Friendly Expressions stamp set

Jul 6, 2018 | Birthday, Cards, Designer Series Paper, Masculine |
I have a quick card for you today using the Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper. It is one of the paper packs in the July sale. Last week I shared ideas using the Rooted In Nature bundle and those ideas also used this same pack of paper. It’s perfect for masculine, fall, and nature projects.
I used the Better Together stamp set for the greeting this time. When you are highlighting the Designer paper pair them up with greeting stamp sets for lots of options. The greeting was punched with the Everyday Label punch. Punch an extra label from Cajun Craze card stock and cut it half – attach each half to the back of the stamped label. The label is attached over some of the Mint Macaron Nature’s Twine.
Supply List
- Nature’s Poem Designer Series paper (part of July paper sale)
- Better Together stamp set
- Cajun Craze card stock
- Whisper White card stock
- Cajun Craze ink
- Nature’s Twine
- Everyday Label Punch
Have a great weekend!
