Stampin’ Up! Leadership friend gifts

I made these cute little gifts for my friends at the Stampin’ Up! Leadership Conference.  Decorated clothespins and a little paper treat bag.  Cute and fun to make!

leadership-friend-swaps

This is a great project that uses recycled paper – it’s the paper we get in our Stampin’ Up! Order boxes but you could use other brown paper.   The paper is cut with the Petite Pocket Die and the Big Shot Die-cut Machine.

Here are some of the things I used to make this little treat –

  • stamp set – Flowering Flourishes – stamped in Summer Starfruit on the brown paper after it was cut
  • stamp set – Perfect Punches – stamped on Rich Razzleberry card stock
  • punch out with Curly Label punch
  • add a little Summer Starfruit flower punched with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack flower and a Silver Mini brad
  • cover the clothes pin with Sycamore Street Designer Series paper
  • add a button from the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button pack that has some Whisper White Baker’s Twine tied through it

Inside these sweet little pockets was a piece of chocolate.  I gave these to my friends as I found them at the Leadership conference.  I hope they all liked the sweet little treat.   The Sycamore Street items will be available for free during Sale-A-Bration starting Jan. 22nd.

If you would like to buy any of these products you can shop at my online store on my website – www.monika.stampinup.net

We heard lots of exciting things at the Leadership Conference about all kinds of fun things that Stampin’ Up! has planned for this year.  I’ll be sharing those throughout the week – some are already on my Facebook page – Stamping Together at Monika’s Place –  so be sure to go like my page and you can see some of them there.

Lacy & Lovely – Create with Connie & Mary

We are all back from convention – and it’s time for a new challenge at Create with Connie & Mary.  This weeks challenge CCMC211 is a sketch challenge.  I was prepping for a class on Monday and decided to use this sketch for that and get two things done with one card.  And then I added to my Card Maker’s club last night and it was very popular there too – now I’m almost out of So Saffron card stock – I better put that on my next order.  Here is the card for you –

Here is the sketch so you can see what I started with to get to that –

As you can see I turned the sketch on its side.  And really love how my card turned out.  I used the Lacy & Lovely stamp set which I got at convention in my I am Creative bonus class on Wednesday night.  It’s funny that I never really noticed this set in the catalog but I really like it and the fonts on the words are just lovely – I guess that is why they called it that.

All the supplies are listed below – come play along with us this week and try your hand at this sketch.  I can’t wait to see what you create.  Visit Create with Connie & Mary and submit your creation for this weeks challenge – each week 3 top creations are selected.  Each challenge is open for a week.  And then a new challenge will be issued.

Here are a few more details about my card.

Almost Artisan – Field Flowers Button card

I’m back today with another card from my Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team entry.  I saw this idea somewhere in my browsing – where the corner of the card front was folded up.  I thought this would be a perfect idea for our stamp set Petite Pairs – it has sentiments that are split into pairs.

These are very trendy colors right now – Basic Gray, Daffodil Delight and Whisper White.  I wanted it to be simple.  The base of the card is Basic Gray with a Whisper White layer on the front and on the inside.  I scored the front corner with my Simply Scored tool and folded it up and adhered it with glue.  Then I added the button with the Baker’s Twine in it.  The front has the Field Flowers stamp set and then the first part of the sentiment.  Then on the inside peeking out of the folded corner is the second part of the sentiment.  Here is a picture of the inside –

I think it is a winner – clean and simple with a little twist to it.  There isn’t anything I would change.  We will be making this tonight at stamp club.  I’ll be leaving for Salt Lake City in only 9 days – I’m going first to see my upline Wendy for a couple of days of stamping fun and then to convention for the rest of the week.  I can’t wait – it is going to be so fun.  I’m working on swaps and stuff for that.

I’m also working on the ribbon shares – the In-color ribbon is packaged and the 1/4″ ribbon is all cut and I’m working on packaging it.

Have a great day!

I’m back with the UDI Color Challenge

Hi everyone!  I’m back.  I took a few days off to spend some time with my sweetie!  Friday was our 22nd wedding anniversary – 22 years on July 22nd.  So we went away for a long weekend to a peaceful cabin in the mountains of Tennessee.  It was nice, quiet, and relaxing and now we are home and back to the real world.

So today is Tuesday and I did just get my card made for the Color Challenge this week – but it turned out really cute.  The inspiration picture for our colors was this one –

Tempting Turquoise, So Saffron, Old Olive and Whisper White and a beautiful floral sundress.  With these colors out on my desk I was trying to decide what to do.  I spent a few minutes looking through my convention photos and came across a project from the display area that Stampin’ Up! set up.  They were flowerpots that had the crochet flowers in them with buttons for the centers.  So I decided I wanted to recreate the flowers on a card.  And here is the result.

I used Inspired by Nature for the background – both the grass image and the flower image (but without the flowers – i only inked the stems and leaves).  Both are in Old Olive ink.  Then I sponged around the top with the Tempting Turquoise to create the sky and at the base with Old Olive to add to the grass.  The flowers are the Crochet Flowers in the catalog called Fleurette’s II.  I used the two smaller sizes – there is also one larger size.  I pulled a piece of White Baker’s Twine through the flower and then tied a button to the front and tied a bow.  The funny thing is that I tied such pretty little bows in each of my buttons and then didn’t realize until after I took the picture that I put all the flowers on either upside down or sideways – so just pretend my bows are blowing in the wind and it is a windy day!  Around the base I tied a piece of So Saffron Taffeta ribbon – so glad to see that we have So Saffron ribbon in the catalog – yeah!  I use this color a lot and really missed having matching ribbon lat year.  The little jewelry tag has “hello” from Tiny Tags on it.

And here is the photo from convention of the flowers that Stampin’ Up! created –

Family Reunion

Today is the Family Reunion – this is Greg’s family and extended family.  We get together each year on the weekend of 4th of July in the middle of a cow pasture next to a little pond.  It’s a fun day of visiting, eating Fried Catfish and hushpuppies, farm fresh corn and watermelon, playing games, row boat rides, fishing with cane poles, feeding the cows and even a visit to the dollar store.  So today I thought I would share this scrapbook page I made last month that is perfect for a family reunion, 4th of July event or other summertime celebration.

This sketch and layout idea came straight out of a scrapbook magazine.  I used all Stampin’ Up! products (the magazine did not).  I used similar colors and the measurements from the sketch that they had.  I finished the page and then went on a search through my old pictures and found these Family Reunion pictures from July 1998!  The boys were so little – look at Ryan only 2 years old and now he will be 15 in just two weeks and ready to start driving a car – oh my!

The colors on this layout are Real Read, Marina Mist, Pacific Point, So Saffron and Whisper White.  There are several products on this layout that just retired from the Stampin’ Up! catalog (darn those stars).  The jumbo wheel, the punches, the Go Go Boots Alphabet dies (for the title), the wide striped ribbon in Real Red, and the Sanded background stamp.  The upside is we do have a STAR die for the Big Shot and it has four different size stars on it that would be perfect for this layout.

Other things I used on this layout that are still in the catalog – Sweet Buttons Embosslit, Top Note die, Scallop Border punch, White Bakers Twine, Brads, Buttons, Circle punches, Jewelry Tag punch, and more.  It is really a fun layout.  I hope you like it!

Have a Happy 4th of July weekend!  We’ll spend the 4th with my family at the lake – I can’t wait!
