In Color Note Card set

I’ve been introducing the new Stampin’ Up! 2014-2016 In-Colors to my clubs and classes this month and wanted to share another project with you.  One of the benefits of being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is we get a magazine just for us!  Inside it there are lots of creative ideas so you don’t have to come up with your own ideas if you don’t want to.  In our last issue there was an article about the new In-Colors and some various project ideas.  For this project I used one of their ideas.

in-color-notecards

The whole set of note cards was put inside a cello bag and tied with a piece of ribbon and a tag – this makes a nice little gift for a hostess or friend.

For each note card they stamped a coordinating envelope.  The stamp set that we used was the Work Of Art set.  I have found it to be a very versatile set.  Here are all the individual cards….

It’s a great time to join Stampin’ Up! as a demonstrator.  The starter kit this month is $50!  Once you become a demo then you’ll also get the magazine and you’ll have access online to all the back issues too.  You won’t be lacking for creative ideas!  I’d love to have you be part of my team.  Learn more on my website or send me an email with any questions – Join the Fun!

Sea Street Birthday card

Here is a fun summer birthday card made with some brand new Stampin’ up! products.

sea-street-birthdayRed, White and Blue are fun summer colors and the new Sea Street stamp set is really cute – a fun smiling octopus.  I created this card for a swap group that I’m part of.  A group of us each create a card and then we swap with each other and get a whole bunch of ideas from the group.  Here are some details about this card –

  • Real Red card base stamped with the starfish image randomly across the bottom
  • Night of Navy die cut with the Starburst Framelits and the Big Shot then embossed with the Decorative Dots embossing folder – I think it looks like bubbles
  • A strip of Designer Paper from the new Maritime paper pack.
  • tied some Whisper White Bakers twine around the card front
  • 2-1/2″ Circle punch – a whisper white piece and stamp with the Octopus and the school of fish – add to the front with Stampin’ Dimesnionals
  • stamp “Happy Birthday” from the new Something to Say stamp set – punch out with the Word Window punch

Hey Man – May 2014 Paper Pumpkin Kit

Hey Man – did you get your May 2014 Paper Pumpkin kit?  It’s called Hey Man!  This kit was a card kit all ready to create cards for Father’s Day and masculine looking birthday.  I put mine together late one night when I was in my craft room – I wanted to make something but didn’t want to come up with any ideas.  So I pulled out my Paper Pumpkin kit and started by making the card following the instructions and then I went out on my own and started doing things a little different. I ended up with 7 cards total – the 6 that were in the kit plus I added some extra card stock to make one more with the extra pieces I had left.  Since I did some altering I was left with a few odds and ends and those were what I used on my extra card.

hey-man-PPThat’s a group picture and now let me show you each one individually.  Here is the one I started with – following the directions:

hey-man-8

and then here is the 3×3 card that I also made following the directions.  Well almost – on the little tag I used one of the candy dots instead of the little stamp.

hey-man-3

Oh and by the way can you see that I stamped on the envelopes too.  That arrow stamp isn’t from this Paper Pumpkin kit but it’s from an earlier one.  With all the arrows in this kit I thought that one was appropriate to coordinate.

I decided I wanted to make a horizontal card so I came up with this

hey-man-2

And then I used the extra piece of the blue/green plus the cut off banner piece from the first 3×3 card to make the other 3×3 card –

hey-man-4

And then here are two other of the regular cards –

hey-man-5

And then with the pieces I had left over I decided to make one more card.  I pulled out some Marina Mist and Wild Wasabi card stock and created this:

So what do you think?

I’ve been enjoying these kits each month.  I have a couple that I didn’t put together (well actually I think just 1).  I have been using a lot of the cards recently for Graduation – remember the Wahoo kit – those were great and also the one with the wood words that said Congrats – I think that one was called Glittered Greetings.  Greg even used one of the Thanks cards to give to someone at work.  He thought the wood words were pretty cool.

Gotta go – talk to you later…..

Happy Father’s Day

Father’s Day is quickly approaching and I’m not sure I shared this card previously so I better do it now.  This was one of the cards from my Good-Bye class as it uses mostly retired stamp sets.

fathers-day-card

It has some good masculine colors – Soft Suede and I used the Naturals white and some Crumb Cake ink too.  Stamp sets I used are:

  • Gorgeous Grunge (in the new catalog too)
  • Delightful Dozen ( for the happy Father’s day – but there was also one in the May Paper Pumpkin kit)
  • Off the Grid (so sad they retired this – I think it is a great background)
  • Clockworks

For the center of the clock I added a Vintage Trinkets brad.

I think you could probably use the Open Sea stamp set and create a similar feeling card for Father’s day.  And it is still in the new catalog.

Enjoy the day!

Retreat Project – Birthday Card Kit

This was our third Make&Take project at the Stamp, Scrap & Create Retreat.  A Birthday card kit that included a birthday cards for a variety of people – a kids card, a teen card, a feminine card and a masculine card.  I wanted to accomplish a few things for this project and set of cards.  While designing it the plan was to use a consistent color scheme – so the whole set coordinates, and I wanted to use the same layout for each of the cards – to show that changing just the stamp set could make it a completely different card.  I was able to use items from my pre-order for the new Stampin’ Up! catalog along with items from the Occasions catalog that continued on into the new annual catalog.

retreat-card-set

I decided to use the new Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack for this project so the color scheme is Sahara Sand, Basic Gray, Whisper White and two brand new colors – Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon.  I’m not sure if you have noticed this before but with the paper stacks if you look at one side you have one set of colors and if you flip over and look at the other side you have a slightly different set of colors.  For this moonlight stack one side includes the Lost Lagoon (that’s what I used for this project) while the other side included the Blackberry Bliss.

Here is a closer look at each piece of this project.

retreat-card-boxThe box that holds the 4 cards and envelopes was made with the Envelope Punch Board.  The front decorated with the Starburst Sayings and Starburst Framelits.

retreat-card-sea-streetThe kids card uses the new Sea Street stamp set and the “happy birthday” is from a new set called Something to Say.  A strip of the Moonlight paper stack – that looks like waves and the Starburst die cut is embossed with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder – to look like bubbles.  Does that embossing folder look familiar?  It was one of the Sale-A-Bration free choices a few months ago.

retreat-card-geometricalThe teen card uses the Geometrical stamp set and the Triangle punch.  For this one the greeting is on the circle and then the punched triangles were added around the front of the card giving a little different look to the same card layout.

retreat-card-so-happyHere is the feminine card – it uses the new So Very Happy stamp set.  While this wasn’t part of our pre-order it was a set that I received during the Leadership conference back in January.  The flower in the set coordinates with the Blossom Punch.

retreat-card-timelessAnd finally the masculine card – it uses the set called Timeless Talk.  This isn’t a new set it was actually in last years catalog too.  But sometimes you don’t notice a set until its presented in a different way.  For the center of the dial on the phone I added a little Basic Gray candy dot.

For all the cards I used the Hardwood Background stamp.  And they each have the large starburst that is embossed, the strip of Moonlight Designer Paper and the 2-1/2″ circle punch with an image plus the punched greeting.

Washi Tape Vivid Vases

Today and tomorrow you can order from the old 2013-2014 Stampin’ Up! catalog and the NEW 2014-2015 Stampin’ Up! catalog at the same time.  There is an overlap of a couple of days.  Many of the retiring items are already sold out but those that aren’t can be ordered through tomorrow and Stampin’ Up! has even discounted some of the retiring items.  You can see the most current availability list by looking in my online store – SHOP HERE.

This card combines the Gingham Garden Washi tape (it’s retiring and on sale) with the Vivid Vases stamp set (from the Occasions catalog and now in the new catalog!).

vivd-vases-2

I wanted to make the vases look like a decoupage glass and decided the Washi tape would give me that look.  This card does take a little time to make.  I put the Washi Tape on a piece of Whisper White card stock and then stamped the vases on top of it with Black StazOn ink.  Then I cut out each of the vases with my paper snips – so yes it is some fussy cutting but the vases are fairly easy to cut out.

vivid-vases-4

This is how I completed the card:

  • Card base is Daffodil Delight
  • Front layer of Whisper White – stamp the Vivid Vases in Black StazOn ink.
  • Color in the flowers/leaves with Stampin’ Write markers – Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Melon Mambo, Island Indigo
  • add the cut out washi tape vases on top of the stamped vases
  • die cut a frame with the On Film Framelits and the Big Shot from Basic Black card stock
  • tie a Whisper White Baker’s Twine Bow (or the Island Indigo Baker’s Twine works too) on the edge of the frame
  • Attach the frame around the stamped image using Stampin’ Dimensionals – I cut little bits of dimensionals to attach the frame.

vivid-vases3

If you wanted different words you could cover the words with the bottom of the frame and add other words underneath.

I really love how it turned out.  I’m going to try another one with different colors of washi tape.
