Halloween Class this weekend

Over the Labor Day holiday weekend I took some time to work on projects for my Halloween class.  I have had ideas in my head for a while but just hadn’t actually made them.  Once I got started it was hard to stop!

So this weekend is my Halloween class and it is jam packed with fun stamping projects.  Here is a look at some – and the picture doesn’t look nearly as good as the real life projects.

We will be making a BOO hanging decoration, a variety of treat holder ideas and some cards.  Fun stuff with some of the new Halloween products from Stampin’ Up!  Halloween is third biggest party event in North America.  Come make some projects to decorate your home and treats to share with your friends and family.

Here are the class details:

Did you feel the Fall Weather?

Did you feel the fall weather where you live over the Labor Day weekend?  There was just a hint of it here at my house!  Just perfect for my Fall themed projects that we made at Stamper’s Club Friday night.  Overnight Saturday into Sunday I think the temperature dropped below 60 – we have been in the 90s during the day it seems like forever.  Saturday was nice and was probably not as hot as it has been.  We had a nice day Saturday – Greg and Ryan went to play golf and Tyler and I went shopping and out to lunch.  Oh – as we were leaving Kroger we could smell smoke and tried to figure out where it was coming from.  Finally saw it coming from under the hood of a parked car.  It kept getting worse and since we were parked only a few spaces away on the same aisle – I told Tyler we need to hurry and get our car moved.  So we did that real quick as the smoke got worse.  I parked the car at the far end of the lot and Tyler got out to go back to the front of the store – I called 911, they already had people on the way.  By that time flames were coming out from the bottom of the car and from under the hood.  Finally the police and fire truck got there and they put the fire out and ended up using a saw to get the hood of the car open.  It even melted the front of the car parked across from it.  How awful for those people!

Sorry to get sidetracked it was just one of those things you never expect to see.  Greg and Tyler put together a new grill this weekend which we used on Sunday night to cook a delicious dinner.  And Sunday I went to go see Kyle for lunch.  Today I spent the afternoon making Halloween projects!! I have some cute stuff planned for my class this weekend – you’ll need to plan to attend.

Now that I’ve rambled on enough – let me show you one of my Fall projects.

It is a small wooden box that we decorated.  Around the outside I glued 4 pieces of Chocolate Chip card stock – cut to the size of each side of the box.  Then I wrapped a piece of the 1-1/4″ Striped Old Olive ribbon around the box and overlapped it on the front.  I used a piece of Linen Thread to tie around it and hold it tight.

Using the Big Shot Die Cut machine and the Leaves #2 die to cut a piece of the Autumn Spice Specialty Designer Series paper that you can find in the new Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalog.  After the leaves were cut I sponged the edges with ink and then used the Color Spritzer and the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker to spritz the leaves.  Each leaf was then tied to the front of the box using the linen thread.  I tied a knot around the stem for each one individually.  Finally I added a large Old Olive button and then tied the Linen Thread in a bow.

I adjusted the leaves to position where I wanted and put Stampin’ Dimensionals behind them to hold them in place.  I added another piece of the Designer Paper to the inside of the box.

I was thinking about setting it on my kitchen table and putting my salt and pepper shakers in there.  You could fill it with candy and set it on your desk.  Or maybe get some nuts and a nutcracker and put those in there.  A small pot of fall flowers would work too.  It all depends on the size of your box as to what you can put inside.

On the Green

Did you notice all of the a la carte stamps in the front of the Stampin’ Up! 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog?  They are on pages 18 – 20 and are all individual stamps covering a variety of occasions and the are all under $10!

One that stood out to me in this new catalog is called On the Green.  It is a golf themed stamp.  My husband Greg has played a little bit of golf here and there over the years but this year he has really gotten into it.  Now that seems to be his main hobby and he is playing a lot.  Ryan (my 14 year old) is also learning to play golf and he is good enough that he goes with Greg and the other men to play on the weekends.  So because of all the golf I wanted to get this stamp.

At Convention I met KatyZamer from TN and she had the perfect swap card using the On the Green stamp.  I decided to use her idea for one of my club projects.  I made only one change –  I layered it on a Crumb Cake card base and only created a half panel of the Wild Wasabi textured piece.  Katy’s card had the whole front of the card as textured Wild Wasabi.  I also gave the girls the option to use the So Many Thanks stamp instead if they didn’t need a golf themed card.  I can’t find my sample right now so I don’t have a picture of it – but when I find it I’ll post it.  Yep my craft room is a huge mess right now and I need to spend some time cleaning and also creating.  And I need to get my newsletter out – I’m behind on that too!

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

Mary Kay Pink

Think Pink….. Mary Kay Pink.

One of my friends is a Mary Kay consultant and she just bought a Stampin’ Up! Big Shot Die-Cut machine.   She asked me if I could help her come up with some ideas for her MK business.

This was my favorite one.  It is a Medium Cello bag filled with MK samples and then I created a topper.  The topper is the Top Note die – cut one from Blushing Bride card stock – score in half “hot dog” style – the long way.  Then cut a top note from Basic Black card stock – and trim off the stitched edging.  Score in half and glue on top of the pink one.  Staple the topper to the top of the bag.  Add a piece of Blushing Bride Poly-twill ribbon – if you position the staples well you can cover them with the ribbon.

I hand wrote “Mary Kay” with a white gel pen.

I also tried a couple of box ideas using the Box #2 Die but I didn’t like them as much as the cello bag idea.

We played Bingo at my Stamper’s Club meeting last night – the girls had fun – I gave away one prize and then they wanted to play some more just for fun.  So here we go for today –
