Scrapbook Pages using the new SU Owl Punch

I created this scrapbook layout originally for the Utah Diva’s International contest this month and then I also used it for my scrapbook class.  It features the new Stampin’ Up! Owl Punch.  I love how these pages turned out.

There is a lot of punching going on for this layout.  First the Owls are punched using card stock and the Play Date Designer Series paper.

Then all the circles – these are the 1-3/4″ Circle punch and all the other punches are layered on these. They are either stamped or embossed with the Big Shot and one of the embossing folders.

Stars are punched and embossed and then layered on the large star die cut with the Big Shot.

Some punched 1-3/8″ DSP circles – one is the Play Date paper and the other is the new Birthday paper.

Colors are Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise, and So Saffron.  The stamp set I used is Extreme Elements.  Some of the photo layers are stamped and the chipboard title is stamped.  Almost everything is sponged with Chocolate Chip ink – the chipboard letters, the circles, the stars, the owls.

The Chipboard letters were cut with the Big Shot and the Simple Alphabet dies.  I used the outside edges left  from the chipboard books that Stampin’ Up! sold in some of the mini catalogs – for this one I had a bunch of the heart board book scraps left and they were perfect for these skinny letters.  I stamped directly on the chipboard in various colors.

These pictures are 10 years old – see I’m in no way caught up on my scrapbooking and I just work on stuff pretty randomly and scrap what I want when I want.  Kyle was starting 3rd grade then and now he is starting college.

Butterfly Prints

Butterfly Prints is one my favorite new stamp sets from the Stampin’ Up! Idea Book & Catalog.  It is a small set with three sets of butterfly wings, the body image and a quote about Love.  I used it for one of my convention swaps – the one I did for the Shoebox swap and I got back a swap from another demo that used that set too.  Swapping is a fun part of any Stampin’ Up! event.  And it gives us great ideas to bring back to use in our classes.  So that is exactly what I did.

I received this swap from Dianne Gill – I think it was one of the completed cards I received from the shoebox swap.  I really liked her card with the Butterfly Prints stamp set and the bright colors.  I decided to use it for my card club meeting last week.  I changed the greeting on the front (I don’t have the set that Dianne used) and simplified the inside for my club.

I played around with some different colors but ultimately decide to stick with the colors Dianne used.  Sometimes when something is just right it doesn’t need to be changed!

For my greeting I used the Three Little Words stamp set.  Then everyone at the club meeting could create the card for the occasion that they needed.  On the inside are the three little words and another butterfly image.  How about that three little words and three little butterflies – it kind works together don’t you think?

The colors are little hard to tell in this photo – the background looks lighter than it is.  The back is Pear Pizzazz, then Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie.  The words and butterfly bodies are stamped with Early Espresso.  The center butterfly is stamped on a second time on a piece of Whisper White card stock, punched out with the butterfly punch and popped up with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

I hope you are having fun playing along with Blog Bingo.  It’s time for the next piece to be called – are you ready?

My Digital Studio – Convention Awards Night

This is another page from my Convention Album that I created in Stampin’ Up!s My Digital Studio.  I have a few more things I want to fix up before I publish it.  When I’m done I hope to add it as a slide show to my blog – but I have to figure out how to do that still.  There is always something new to learn when it comes to this blog.  The page above has pictures from the Awards night which included entertainment from Charley Jenkins.

Notice the photo in the bottom right corner – that’s me and that guy is the drummer from the band.  He was the one they kept talking about being single.  That night happened to be my wedding anniversary and I was spending it at convention.  Becky thought it would be funny to get a picture of me with the drummer.  So she told him it was my anniversary and that she wanted to take a picture and I don’t know if she planned it or not but when she took the picture he gave me this big kiss!  Can you see by my face that I was surprised!

And now it’s time to continue with Monika’s Blog Bingo!

It’s BINGO TIME!  We are playing Round 2 of Monika’s Blog Bingo.  I filled group 4 and I opened up group 5.   See this POST for more details on how to join, how to play and the Round 1 winner.

Tropical Party Progressive Scrapbook

My friend Becky wanted to have a Stampin’ Up! workshop focused on scrapbooking.  So I wanted to accomplish a few different things.  I remembered a demonstration that Wendy Knowles did at convention 2 or 3 years ago.  For her scrapbook workshops she would design a 6×6 scrapbook page for the Make & Take project but she would use the same materials to create a card for those guests that didn’t scrapbook.  I always thought that was a great idea and finally had a chance to use it for a workshop.  I also wanted to show how to take the 6×6 scrapbook page and use that on an 8-1/2 x 11 page, which could then be used on a 12×12.

So this is what I came up with:

This is the 6×6 page – Chocolate Chip card stock, Old Olive card stock, Whisper White card stock.  I stamped on the Old Olive with the tropical leaves image.  On the white I used a stamp from the Word Play stamp set with the same tropical image beside it.  I decided after I made this that I should have used my Stampin’ Write Markers on the words – inked all the words in Chocolate Chip and the earth image in the Old Olive.  I did that at the workshop and it looked much better.  I used my Stampin’ Write marker to add some faux stitching and also sponged the edges.

On the side I used the Island Oasis Designer series paper – I punched a strip with the Scallop Border punch – and saved the little left over strip to layer on top of the Chocolate Chip piece.  I added my picture and finished the page with two palm trees that were cut out.

I demonstrated how to take the 6×6 and create an 8-1/2 x 11 page with it.  And this is the result:

I used a Tempting Turquoise 8-1/2 x 11 piece of card stock.  I put the same strip of designer series paper across the middle.  On the left I added the wide striped Old Olive ribbon. I stamped some of the flowers in Tempting Turquoise and cut those out.  I added Old Olive brads to the center of the ones at the base of the 6×6.  And a button to the center of the one tied around the ribbon – I tied it with the Linen Thread.

The picture on the 6×6 was of me and my three boys.  So I decided to add one of Greg and I at the bottom.  And finished with another cut out palm tree.

I didn’t actually create a 12×12 but my thought is to either use Chocolate Chip or Old Olive.  Put this 8-1/2 x 11 on one side and add some additional photos to the side.  And probably add additional flowers as well.

As part of the workshop I did use the supplies from the 6×6 page to also create a card.  Some of the guests chose this option.  Here is what it looks like.

For the card I just used a different stamp from the Word Play set so that the card could be a birthday card.

I hope  you like the ideas.  And hurry if you haven’t gotten the Tropical Party stamp set or Island Oasis Designer Series paper.  They are both in the Summer Mini catalog which is ending on August 31st!  You can order online through my website if you need to or send me an email.

It’s BINGO TIME!  We are playing Round 2 of Monika’s Blog Bingo.  I’m currently taking names for Round 4 – there is one spot left.   See this POST for more details on how to join, how to play and the Round 1 winner.

Owl Tags

I’m back with more Owls!  But I didn’t make these for this project.  These are my double duty owls.  They were originally on the picks on my cupcakes for the Open House I had earlier this month.  Read this post.

I told everyone to keep their owls off of their cupcakes and use them for another project.  So that was exactly what I did with the ones that were left.  I re-purposed them into tags.

The owls were done in the new Stampin’ Up! In-Colors so the tags of course are color coordinated with the owls.  I cut a piece of 3×3 card stock to match the owl.  I used the So Many Thanks stamp set up in the corner.  And added a strip of the matching In-Color Designer Series Paper at the bottom of the tag.

I used this batch of tags for a group of orders from a workshop I had recently.  And the hostess got a special gift from me – one of the Play Date shopping bags that we were able to buy at convention this year.

I have my tag on the plastic bag that contains her order and the shopping bags came with their own owl tags already on them.

I hope she likes it!

Today is Tyler’s birthday – he is 17.  We will be celebrating with dinner tonight.  Last night we drove down to GT to pick up Kyle so he could be home.  Greg will drive him back tonight after dinner.  So the whole family will be back together for at least a little while today.
