Sep 13, 2010 | Bingo, Birthday, Cards, Charming, Designer Series Paper, In Colors, Inspired by Nature, Punch Art |
Today’s card uses the Owl Punch – I just love that Owl punch! – and the Word Play stamp set. I created another card earlier using the same to items and basically the same colors – you can see it here. I needed another card using the Owl punch from Stampin’ Up! but didn’t want to use the same one so I came up with another one. Here it is:
We made this one in my card clubs the last couple of weeks. The colors are the Stampin’ Up! In Colors – Pear Pizzazz and Peach Parfait.
I wanted a matching envelope but since the card was basically all punched I wasn’t sure what to do to decorate the envelope. I finally decided to use the grass from Inspired by Nature and then added the little butterfly from Charming – it gave it an outdoor look to go along with my owl.
Stampin’ Up! Supplies:
- Card stock: Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip,Whisper White
- Ink: Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, Chocolate Chip
- Stamp sets: Word Play, Inspired by Nature, Charming
- In Color Patterns Pack Designer Series Paper
- Owl Punch, 2-step Bird Punch, 1-3/4″ Circle Punch
- Stampin’ Sponges, 2-way glue pen

Sep 12, 2010 | Big Shot, Bingo, Cards, Holiday Mini Catalog 2010, Thank You |
Last night I had a demonstrator meeting and we had a great time. There were nine of us and we had fun sharing and stamping and learning from one another. I’ll share more about our projects and swaps later this week after I take pictures of everything.
Now I have another card to share using the Just Believe stamp set again. I created this one to show a group of my stampers how to use a Brayer to add ink to one of our Embossing Folders.
For this card I used the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Folder. Using a brayer and the Old Olive ink I added ink to the inside of the folder on one side – I put the ink on the side where the pluses are raised. Then put a piece of Crumb Cake card stock inside the folder and run it through the Big Shot Die-Cut machine. When you do this ink gets pressed into the depressions that are created by the embossing folder.
To finish the card I sponged the edges of the embossed piece with Early Espresso ink and tied a piece of Satin Ribbon around it. That gets layered on the front of the card base.
The leaf image is stamped in Old Olive on Whisper White card stock and punched out with the new Decorative Label punch from the Holiday Mini catalog. This piece was sponged a little bit. I punched another piece out of Old Olive and cut it in half lengthwise. You’ll need to trim the little tips off and then you can layer it on the back of the white on each side. It gives the illusion of a larger layered punch. Add the finished piece to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I stamped a matching envelope and also stamped on the inside of the card to match.

Sep 11, 2010 | Big Shot, Bingo, Cards, Catalogs, Stampin' Up! Convention |
I just love this new Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Just Believe (pg.109) and I was very excited to know we were getting it in our Convention Bags this year. I have seen tons of beautiful projects with this stamp set. There is a card in the catalog on page 71 that pops out at me when I look through the catalog – but I don’t have that particular stamp set so I decided instead to use the layout and colors with the Just Believe stamp set and here is the result:

I was happy with how it turned out. This was the first time I have used my Scallop Oval Frame die – I did figure out that there is a difference between each end of the oval so for this card I had to make sure the scallop frame was in the same direction as the white inside so they matched up perfectly. I used a technique with this set that I’m not sure what to call it – it probably has a name. Basically you ink the entire image with the Wild Wasabi ink pad and then use a Blender Pen to remove the ink from the flowers. Then add color back to the flowers with a marker.
Stampin’ Up! Supplies:
- Card stock: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade,Whisper White
- Ink: Wild Wasabi ink pad and Poppy Parade Stampin’ Write Marker
- Stamp sets: Just Believe
- Big Shot Die-Cut Machine, Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder, Oval Scallop Frame Die
- Modern Label punch
- Bold Brights Brads, Basic Pearls
- White Gel Pen, Stampin’ Sponges, Blender Pens, paper piercer

Sep 10, 2010 | Big Shot, Bingo, Cards, Holiday Mini Catalog 2010, Techniques, Thumping |
Paisley Prints in the new Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini Catalog was one of the stamp sets we received in our Convention bags this year. I took one of the projects that we created at convention and made a few modifications to it and I have been using it in my card classes this month.
I used a technique on the leaves called “Thumping”. At least that is what I call it – perhaps it has other names as well. For my card we stamped the leaf several times with this technique – once on the Whisper White piece on the card, two more times on scratch Whisper White and cut those out, once on the envelope and I even stamped one on the inside of the card.
To do the Thumping technique on these leaves first ink up the leaf image using Pumpkin Pie ink. Now use your Stampin’ Write Markers – the fat tip end – I used three colors – Cajun Craze, Tangerine Tango and Early Expresso – take the marker and thump it on the inked image randomly. Repeat with each of the markers. Then stamp your image on your card stock. You get a multi-colored looking image. This set really works well with this technique.
For my card the base is Old Olive and the bottom was wheeled with the new Paisley wheel that matches the stamp set. Then the white piece has the stamped leaf and the greeting on it. Use a strip of Pumpkin Pie cards stock and add texture with the Big Shot and the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. Put that under the white piece.
For the two cut out leaves – I tied the stems together with a piece of Linen Thread. Then I spread them apart a little bit and attach with Stampin’ Dimensionals over the stamped leaf. The hardest part with this card is just cutting out the leaves – otherwise it is easy as can be – you just can’t do the thumping wrong and every leaf comes out unique.
And it is now time to start Monika’s Blog Bingo – Round 3! Let’s get started……
It’s BINGO TIME! We are playing Round 3 of Monika’s Blog Bingo. I’m currently taking names for Round 5. See this POST for more details on how to join, how to play and the Round 1 and 2 winners.

Look for an email from me with your Bingo card later today. I will start calling pieces beginning on Friday 9/10.
Here are the rules for playing Monika’s Blog Bingo (I reserve the right to adjust the game if necessary):
First since I plan to mail a prize to the winner you need to live in the US (sorry if you don’t but the prizes are SU product in most cases).
Second: I created 16 cards so I’m going to have 16 people play in each round and I hope to do multiple rounds. ( I know I said 15 to begin with but I miscounted and starting with group 2 there will be 16 players).
Third: You need to email me at [email protected] with Monika’s Blog Bingo in the subject line and tell me you want to play. I need your name and your mailing address (so if you win I can send you a prize).
Fourth: I will email you an image of your Bingo card – each card is unique and I will have them numbered so I know which one you have.
Fifth: After I have all 16 players I will post a Bingo Piece each day on my blog – so you have to keep coming back – it will likely be at the end of my regular post for the day – and if I don’t have a regular post it will just be by itself.
Sixth: I will post Bingo Pieces until someone has Bingo – you must have 5 in a row – across, down, diagonal – just like normal bingo and once you have Bingo You have to email me that you have – send the email to [email protected] – subject I have Bingo!. I will check your card against the pieces that have been played to make sure you have Bingo. And if per chance there is more than one on the same piece, I will pick the winner by the time stamp on the email – first one wins after verifying the Bingos.
Then I’ll mail the winner a prize!
A couple more things on how I am playing this game: Only one group will play at a time. If you are playing in a current group you cannot sign up for any other groups. Once your group is finished and if you did not win you can sign up for another group and play again.
I hope you’ll play along with me! Is everybody ready….

Group 3: cards will be sent 9/9, play begins on 9/10
