Jun 14, 2011 | Baby, Big Shot, Cards, Retired List, UDI Color Challenge |
Wow! Did you visit during the Blog Hop this weekend? I hope you did and that you took the time to hop through – did you know that you went all the way to Australia and New Zealand on the blog hop!
Today we are back to the Utah Diva’s International Color Challenge. I hope you’ll visit the blog and see all the other designer projects too. It’s always interesting to see how different the projects are that we create with the same set of colors. We are on week #40 and the inspiration picture inspiration picture was a lovely bedding ensemble – there were just three colors for us this week – Early Espresso, Bashful Blue and Whisper White. I really wanted to add just one more color (Crumb Cake) but I didn’t – I followed the rules…

I looked again through my stack of retiring stamp sets to see what might inspire me with these colors. I came across one of the A La Carte stamps – Baby Steps – the cute stamp with the two elephants. When I was in school I collected elephants – so I always like things with elephants on them. I got this stamp set at the first of the year – but haven’t actually used it. And now it’s retiring so I thought I better hurry up and get some ink on it. It really is so cute and these colors this week would be perfect for a little baby boy card. So here is what I made –

Very simple and clean looking. The base is Early Espresso, the first layer is Bashful Blue that was embossed with Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. I wrapped some Early Espresso Satin Ribbon and tied it in a knot. I added two little tags (Jewelry Tag punch) one in white and one in blue – I stamped ‘baby’ from Tiny Tags and hand wrote ‘boy’ with a Stampin’ Write Marker.
I inked the Baby Steps stamp in Bashful Blue and then used the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker to color over the “congratulations” and then stamped it on the Whisper White. I stamped the image again on another piece of Whisper White so that I could cut out the big elephant and pop it up on top of the first one. I used the marker to darken the eyes. Layer the white on Early Espresso and added it to the front of the card with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. I hope you like it!

Jun 13, 2011 | Big Shot, Retired List, SU Ribbon |
It’s June and that means Stampin’ Up! is retiring stamp sets and accessories. So I’m trying to work my way through my retiring sets and accessories by creating projects to show you. I was sad to see that there is a list of Big Shot Die’s retiring – oh my! And many of them are even on sale! One of those on the list is the Basket’s & Blooms XL die – and it is 25% off. I decided to use it to make this cute holder for my last ribbon share.

The girls also made one in my Hands-On class on Friday – but it wasn’t full of ribbon.
I used Very Vanilla Textured card stock – 6″ x 12″ piece and cut it with the Big Shot and the Basket & Blooms XL die (it’s on the last chance list). I stamped on the two basket pieces with the Simply Said stamp set (also on the last chance list) – I used Old Olive ink. I also sponged along the bottom of the basket with Old Olive ink. The flowers were colored with Stampin’ Write markers in Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie. Assemble the basket using Multi purpose liquid glue – that is what I like to use.
Create a coordinating tag (the tag is also part of the die) and tie it to the handle with some taffeta ribbon – I used Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight (and you guessed it both of these are also on the Last chance list). The baskets for the ribbon share were filled with the wide striped grosgrain ribbon – much of it is also on the last chance list but not all the colors and we’ll be getting some new colors too – so that is exciting!
In July I’ll have another ribbon share with one of the new ribbon styles in the catalog. You are going to love it!
I hope you enjoyed the UStamp Blog Hop this weekend. I’ll be picking a winner later today for the blog candy. Talk to you in a bit…..

Stampin’ Up! started their Making a Difference Program in 2003 and partnered with the Ronald McDonald House Charities which continues today. Stampin’ Up! has partnered with various other organizations over the year in an effort to make a difference in the world around us.
Now here is my project which will surely inspire you….

I have had this luminary idea in my mind for several weeks and it came together just beautifully don’t you think?
It is soft and inspirational. I remember when I walked in the Relay for Life for my mom (she had Colon Cancer) we had luminaries surrounding the track as we walked. That has been a handful of years ago but I always think of those luminaries and they gave me the inspiration to make one with this stamp set. These would be beautiful on all the tables at a fundraiser event. Here is another view of the front –

Jun 8, 2011 | Big Shot, Build-a-Bear, Designer Series Paper, Retired List, Scrapbook Pages |
I think it has been a while since I shared a scrapbook layout. This is one of my favorites so far this year. It uses the Create a Cupcake stamp set and Build a Cupcake Punch. I made this one as a birthday layout for myself. I just need to print the pictures to put on it.
I guess that means I’ve revealed my age – just don’t tell anyone else. I almost created this page with the traditional bold colors in the Celebrations Designer Series paper but then I decided I wanted to do something different and chose to use the Build-A-Bear Workshop Pawsitively Prints Designer Series paper. Both are retiring with this current catalog so be sure to order them now if you want them.
The Build-A-Bear paper is really cute with stripes, checks, dots, plaid, and some flowers. The colors are Poppy Parade, So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise, and Pear Pizzazz.
The cupcakes are a variety of stamped and punched pieces and a few are embossed with the Square Lattice Embossing folder. The big flower is several layers of the Paper Flowers that I colored with Poppy Parade ink to match. In the center is a Jumbo Pear Pizzazz button. I used the Big Shot die cut machine to cut the big circle(Clear Circle) and the numbers (Simple Numbers).
I saw the idea for this layout in a scrapbook magazine and adapted it to a two page 12×12 layout and made it an all SU layout. My scrapbook class liked this layout and I hope you do too.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Jun 2, 2011 | Big Shot, Birthday, Cards, Retired List, Sale-A-Bration 2011, Summer Mini 2011 |
So far I feel like I’ve had a productive day. Got up and showered, got Ryan up and off to drum line practice, went to the post office, stopped by the bank, picked up dry cleaning, checked my email and the SU website. Now I’m writing my blog post and its still before 10. Maybe that’s a good sign that I’ll get lots done today. I have to get my Stamper’s Club Projects ready. I finally decided on the last project about midnight last night and went to bed. So today I’ll cut everything and have it ready. Tomorrow I’ll be gone all day with Tyler – we are headed to KSU for his orientation and hopefully by the time we leave he’ll be registered for Fall classes, have his ID and parking pass – that would make him officially a college student. They sure do grow up fast!
So enough about that let me show you this super cute little birthday card I made.
It is a little party hat card made from the Petal Cone Big Shot die. You cut your card stock with the Petal Cone die and trim off the two scallops and the little flap on the side. That gives you the triangle shaped hat. I cut a piece of the Celebrations Designer Series paper (it’s on the Last Chance list) to get just one of the triangles – trim off any extra from the petal cone shape. Then I punched the edge of a strip of Real Red card stock with the Scallop Border punch and added it to the base of the hat – trim the sides to match the hat.
To decorate I cut a number ‘5’ (choose whatever number you need) using the Big Shot and the Simple Numbers die. I tied a piece of the White Bakers Twine (in the Summer mini) around it and attached it to the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. At the top of the hat I went with a Pacific Point button (from the Sale-A-Bration button set) – also tied with some White Baker’s Twine.
It is a cute little card. Do you want to make one? Then you should come to my Card Maker’s Club on June 29th. Everyone is welcome to come! We had a great time in May. There were 11 different card designs to choose from in May. For June I will be adding more and taking a couple of them away. You can choose to make the cards that you need out of what I have available. Your class fee of $15 includes 6 cards plus envelopes. I hope to see you there!
Have a great day and try to stay cool – we are supposed to be in the high 90s today.

May 26, 2011 | Big Shot, Cards, Pocket Silhouettes, Punch Art, Summer Mini 2011, Thank You |
More with the Blossom Bouquet Triple Punch…
Traditionally I don’t use a lot of the purples in my stamping projects – I don’t really know why. In fact when I was little I loved purple – my bedroom had wallpaper with a floral print in purple and brown and I had a canopy bed and it was all decked out in purple. I must have liked purple at some point in time. But a while back when I did an inventory of my ink and card stock the ones that were missing – were all shades of purple. But I have rediscovered Perfect Plum so you may start seeing more projects with some purple.
This card came from a card I saw on Heather Summers blog. Her’s was a big square card and I think she got the idea from someone else. These were the colors that she used and they really were pretty together – Perfect Plum, Certainly Celery, and Baja Breeze. I wanted a card that would fit in the open-ended envelopes and ended up with this creation.
I used Pocket Silhouettes to create the greenery. The “thanks so much” is the new hostess set in the Summer Mini Catalog called Swirls & Curls Verses. Then I punched out flowers with the Blossom Bouquet Triple Punch and layered the pieces and added some details.
flower 1 is Perfect Plum base, Certainly Celery for the middle and Baja Breeze for the top with a Certainly Celery brad in the center.
flower 2 is Certainly Celery base that has been cut in between the petals, the center is the Bitty Punch circle that was embossed with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder
flower 3 is a Baja Breeze base that was embossed with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder, the top is Perfect Plum and then a Bitty Button threaded with White Bakers Twine for the center.
Have a nice day – we are expecting rain and storms this afternoon/evening – ugh – hopefully no tornados.
