Jul 22, 2009 | All in the Family, Chipboard, family, Scrapbook Pages, Stamps |
Yes – we are still happy together after 20 years. Today is our 20th wedding anniversary – can you believe it? I just really don’t feel like I have been married for 20 years – that sounds like such a long time but like they say time flies when you are having fun – and I must be having fun!
This is the card I made Greg for our anniversary.
I used the All in the Family set and the Family Phrases set – stamped on Whisper White with Black ink and colored in with Stampin’ Write Markers.
The ’20’ is chipboard from the On Board Lots of Letters set. I colored them with a sponge dauber and Old Olive craft ink.
“Anniversary” comes from the Fundamental Phrases stamp set and is punched with the Modern Label punch.
The Designer Series Paper is retired it was the Maine Blueberry paper from last year that I really liked. That gave me the colors that I used – Not Quite Navy, Bashful Blue and Old Olive.
Something that I didn’t think about was that 20 years ago we didn’t have digital cameras. I can’t think of when that started really but my digital pictures start in 2002 and we were
probably a few years behind the trend anyway. I wanted to share a picture of what I looked like on my wedding day 20 years ago. I found a scrapbook page that I made using some of my pictures that were taken at the wedding reception (the non-professional ones). This was an old Simply Scrappin’ Kit that Stampin’ Up! had several years ago.
My dress was what I call a Southern Belle dress with lots of ruffles on it – probably not what anyone would want to wear today. I made my hat – got the plain white hat and added trim and pearls and stuff to it. I even made the hoop that I needed for my dress (I didn’t bustle it but carried it instead). Our reception was in one of the historic homes in Roswell, GA.
So it’s 20 years later and we are still happily married. We went away over the weekend on an anniversary trip – no kids. I found a secluded mountain cabin in North Carolina – it was a really nice place to stay. They had everything you could want or need in that cabin. The only thing I didn’t like was the drive up the mountain to get there – gravel road, very steep and curvy! It was like being on a roller coaster – and I don’t like roller coasters. You had to go fast to get up but if you hadn’t already been up you didn’t know where the turns were. So when we first arrived it took us three tries to get up in our SUV. Now I wish we had the 4-wheel drive. Once we were up I wasn’t sure I wanted to leave until we went home. But Greg said it would be fine and we would get back up so we did end up going out during the day on Friday and Saturday. Aside from the ride up and down the mountain to actually get to the cabin everything else was perfect – an awesome view of the mountains and the sunset.
Saturday we found a little road that took us to the Appalachian Trail (if you aren’t from somewhere east that is the trail that you can hike from Georgia to Maine). We have been on short day hikes here and there. This time we took a 1-1/2 mile hike in (and up) to the top of the mountain where there was an observation tour . We climbed the tower (up 2 flights of stairs to get to the top) and had a 360 degree view of the mountains! It was quite amazing! Our picture is below with the mountains in the background. The view was like that all the way around the tower.
Have a great day!

Jul 21, 2009 | Designer Series Paper, Embellishments, SU Buttons, SU Ribbon |
Hopefully I haven’t already shown this project on my blog – I looked and couldn’t find it….
This was another project from the online class I took – Simply Babies – it was originally a baby project that I altered for a Christmas project using the new Hostess set called Christmas Punch.
It is a Level 2 Hostess set and has Christmas images that fit with our punches.
This project is just an open box on the bottom (Kraft card stock sponged with Whisper White craft ink) – wrapped with Old Olive card stock and Chocolate Chip Patterns Designer Paper. Each tag matches the box and then has a different image from the stamp set on the front. The top of each tag has a Jumbo Eyelet in it and then they are all tied with different ribbons and embellished with brads, buttons and linen thread. I just grabbed all the different Old Olive and Chocolate Chip ribbons that I had and got buttons and jumbo brads too.
I made 12 tags – 2 of each design. The snowflakes in the set fit perfectly in the Boho Blossom punch – so all three punch right out in a snap! The other images match punches too – including the tag punch, designer label, scallop square, scallop oval and wide oval. There is also a “to:/from:” stamp that you can add to the top or back of each tag.
I’ll be working on some more of the projects from the class as I get time.
Thanks for stopping by today!
I am headed to band camp as a volunteer this evening. Since they are sharing the football field with the football team the band has their practices starting at 1 and running until 8 at night.

Jul 19, 2009 | Big Shot, class, Designer Series Paper |
Last weekend I did a birthday party for Natalie. We had a fun all girls afternoon. Natalie had three friends come over for her party and her mom, Becky, and I. I showed the girls how to make their very own Paper Bag Scrapbook and then we made little purses using the Big Shot die-cut machine. Back in June when Becky was planning the birthday party she said that Natalie loved pink and green so we went through the catalog to find the perfect paper – it turned out to be the Raspberry Tart Designer Series paper and the girls all loved it. I used the same pack pf paper for their scrapbooks and their purses. The scrapbook was one I had designed a couple of years ago and uses an old Stampin’ Up! stamp set that I still think is perfect for this project. The paper bag scrapbook is full of pockets and the stamp set is about pockets and friends and how you can never have too many. Here are some pictures from this fun after noon and a close up of the two projects we made.

Paper Bag Scrapbook
It was so nice to hear the comments from the girls as they made their projects. They all said this was the best party they had ever been too.

Girls with Top Note purses
For the Top Note purse the girls got to use the Big Shot die-cut machine. They lined up and ran their paper through for the different dies – we used the Top Note and the Flower Daisies die. The girls thought it was so cool how their shapes popped right out after they rolled the paper through the machine.
Becky, Natalie’s mom, wants to do this for her own birthday next year.

Top Note purse
Making mini scrapbooks is a fun project and there are endless ideas out there. The paper bag scrapbook is just one and is perfect for little girls.
Have fun stamping with your friends! And if you want to have a birthday party let me know.

Jul 16, 2009 | Big Shot, Just Tennis |
The day before Ryan’s birthday was one of the tennis pro’s birthday. So I made her a card using the Just Tennis stamp set.
Supplies (for the outside of the card):
- Night of Navy card stock and ink
- Garden Green card stock and ink
- Summer Sun ink
- Whisper White card stock
- Just Tennis stamp set
- Birthday Wish stamp set (same one I used on Ryan’s card)
- 3/4″ circle punch
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Big Shot die-cut machine
- Stampin’ Up Perfect Details Texture Plate
It is actually a pop-up card on the inside. Additional supplies used on the inside are the 1-3/4″ circle punch, Vellum Card stock, and Mini glue dots. To create the pop-up you need to punch a 1-3/4″ circle from the vellum card stock. Then use your paper snips to cut around the circle to create a swirl. Then I attached the tail end to the bottom of the card – making sure the circle itself is lying in the center. It then got covered with the other piece of card stock. I put a mini glue dot on the center of the circle (on top) then shut the card so it sticks to the top. Then you open it and add your images to the swirl. I actually sandwhiched two tennis balls together on each side of the spiral so you see a tennis ball from either side.
It turned out to be a fun card and I will be making some more. Ryan’s tennis team is going to play in the State Tournament at the end of July. I hope they do well. But in any case I need to make a Thank You card for the team captain.
Have a great rest of your day!
