Sale-A-Bration – Elementary Elegance

This card uses the Elementary Elegance stamp set that is one of the Free sets you can get during Sale-a-Bration.  The inside of the frame is the perfect fit for the Curly Label punch.  This card idea is from Shelli – the head of Stampin’ Up! (there is a link to her blog in the side-bar).

First Edition Designer Series Paper, the Beautiful Wings Embosslit (one of my favorite) and some Lucky Limeade Baker’s Twine all finish off this card.

The front panel is cut short and punched with the scallop border punch.  The First Edition Designer paper is attached to the front behind the scallop.  Here is a little trick that I do so that it is lined up with the back of the card.  Put adhesive on the inside of the card front right where the scallops are punched.  Lay the First Edition designer paper on the inside of the card back and line it up with the right edge and top and bottom.  Now close the front of the card and the adhesive will stick to the designer paper and it will be in exactly the right place.

Busy, busy today and for the weekend.

My Digital Studio – Son of a Sailor

More My Digital Studio for you today.  This was the Day 3 layout for Heather’s MDS class.

I titled it “son of a son of a sailor” – and in the picture is my brother, my nephew and my dad.  My nephew started learning how to sail this past summer so they officially fit the title now.  We grew up sailing and listening to Jimmy Buffet and his songs.  My brother and I started sailing when we were about 9 years old – I mean on a boat by ourselves – we were on a boat much earlier than that.  In fact my mom was on the boat with my dad when she was pregnant with me.  So I’ve been sailing since a very young age!  But around 9 was when we got our own little boats and went to junior sailing camp to learn how to sail by ourselves.

My brother stuck with it – me not so much – it was mostly boys that sailed and I was around them all the time.  Maybe that’s why God gave me 3 boys he figured I was already used to being with boys all the time.  So now my dad still sails, my brother sails and my  nephew is just learning – but he started at 6 a little bit younger than we did.

What did you do when you were growing up and did you stick with it into adulthood?  Just curious……

My Digital Studio – My Guy

Here is my day 2 layout for Heather’s MDS online class.

This is My GUY – its Greg in December when we were on vacation.  He has on his sporty red sunglasses when we were on the roof by the pool.  We stayed in a house where the pool was on the roof – that was a first for us.

These papers are from Noteworthy Designer paper.  Colors – So Saffron, Pool Party, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler.  The colors worked out since Greg had on a yellow shirt and his red glasses.

Just a quick post for you.

My Digital Studio – Leadership March

Hey!  I have been busy playing with My Digital Studio.  Cindy and I held our first My Digital Studio Club meeting this month and it was so much fun.  We are planning a demo retreat for my next downline meeting in March – we have some fun new projects planned for that.  And then I decided to take Heather Summer’s Online class to try to learn some of the tips and tricks she uses to create her awesome projects.  I also thought I would challenge myself to create each day using the project that was shared in the class.  So far so good – it’s been 8 days now and I have 8 layouts done and I’m happy with each and every one.  I have a link to Heather’s blog on the right side bar of my blog.

So far I’m pretty much using the layouts as they were designed for the class but usually changing up the colors, designer papers, stamp sets because I don’t always have the same downloads that she uses.

Day 1 – this is the Leadership March this year at the Stampin’ Up! Leadership conference.  That’s me on stage – I’m not sue what I was doing with my arms out like that but one of my friends got a picture.  I guess it was a “hey look at me I’m on stage”.  Its always exciting to get to be on my stage for something and since I haven’t done it very often I don’t quite know what to do.  My first walk across stage was at convention last summer.

The designer paper I used here comes from the Sale-A-Bration My Digital Studio CD.  I stuck with the Pool Party, Poppy Parade and Soft Suede colors because the pictures showed the blue and red of the stage decorations. I also added brads from the same CD – I love that little butterfly brad.

Soon it will be time for the bird to build nests in the yard.  The last two days I’ve seen bluebirds checking out the houses – we’ll see which house they pick this year – they seem two go back and forth between two and the chick-a-dees usually take the one they don’t.  I’ve also had a red-bellied woodpecker spending a lot of time looking in the woodpecker house we mounted more than a year ago. Oh and the Cedar Waxwings came through this weekend – they always come in a big flock and pass through – I happened to see them as they made a brief stop in the yard (seemed like most just stopped to rest and “relieve themselves” – big mess).  I tried to take some pictures but they were way up in the tops of the trees – I’ll download them soon they are on my big camera.  So I’ve rambled enough – time to move on.  Have a great day!

A Little Note… You’re My Type

I have to tell you that I didn’t think much of this stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini catalog when I first saw it.  It is called You’re My Type and includes the type-writer and 6 different sets of words to go with it.  But then I saw what other demonstrators were doing with and thought I probably need to get this set – it is actually very versatile and works great for a masculine or gender neutral card.  But you can dress it up and bling it up and change the colors and you can even use the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set with it and other too.  Now the possibilities are really growing.  And I really wanted it – lucky me that I got it free at Leadership!

So this is a quick and easy card (idea from the Stampin’ Success magazine – Feb 2012 issue).  I didn’t want to cut out the typewriter so the card front has a Very Vanilla panel and the typewriter is stamped on it using Early Espresso ink.  At the bottom of the panel is an Early Espresso strip and then a piece of First Edition Designer Series paper punch with the Scallop Border.

Tie a piece of Early Espresso Baker’s Twine around it.  Stamp “a little note…” on Sahara Sand card stock strip and cut to create a banner.  I also stamped the words on the paper part of the typewriter image without reinking – so it is just a faint hint of typing.  Attach the banner with a brad and then add the whole panel to the front of an Old Olive card.

Happy Stamping!
