Now this is a FUN idea! I’m planning to make more of these. It is an idea that I got from Stampin’ Up! Make your own twist ties with Washi Tape! Since our Stampin’ Up! products coordinate you can now coordinate a twist for your treat bags to match your tags – fun!
Here is how you make the twist tie
- get a piece of floral wire – the one I used was 20 gauge
- cut the wire to the length you want for your twist tie
- get a piece of Washi tape just a little longer than your piece of wire
- lay the wire in the center of the Washi tape
- Put another piece of Washi tape on top of the first – sandwiching the wire in between
- finish the edges – I snipped mine into little flag points
- now twist it around your project
Here is a closer look at the twist tie from the back of the project.
I used a matching piece of Washi Tape (actually half a piece) on the front of the tag that I tied to the treat bag.
I think this is a really fun idea and I already have plans for some more twist ties using different washi tape. Oh the Washi tape that I used here is from the Season of Style pack.
That is project # 11 from my Washi Tape class – seriously I went overboard – and I’m still not done! I think I have 2 more projects. They are all pretty quick to make and so much fun.

I have a few more Washi Tape ideas for you – these are a little bit out there. This one you may have seen posted – it was idea that came from Stampin’ Up! Well that is where I saw it – I supposed they might have found it elsewhere.
Use Washi tape to make feathers!
Here’s some how to’s on making a feather:
- take a toothpick and put Washi tape on one side – over the tip and down the other side.
- trim into the shape of a feather
- snip the edges to create the feathered look
- attach to the card with some mini glue dots
The background on the card is the Tape It Stamp set. There is a little bit of bling – a Rhinestone and some Candy Dots. The Awesome Thanks comes from the Yippee-Skippee stamp set.

Remember that left over heart that we cut for the last card that I shared. Well I used it for the card I’m sharing today. Which is also another Artisan inspired card – this time from Cindy Schuster – she created a card similar to this for a retreat we attended just before convention.
check with this post to see where the heart came from- this time I used a note card for the card base
- a piece of Polka Dot parade designer series paper – use the 2-1/2″ Circle punch to punch a hole – add the paper to the note card with Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Add the heart to the center of the hole – also with Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Tie some Linen Thread through a small Vintage Faceted Button and use a glue dot to add to the heart
- Stamp a greeting on Whisper White and cut into a flag – add to the front of the note card.
That’s project #9 and you would think we would be done – but we are not – I really did go overboard creating with the Washi tape. I still have a few more to share so be sure to come back.
I hope you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend. I did – Saturday Kyle came home and we went out to dinner to celebrate Tyler’s 20th birthday. Sunday I spent the day with Cindy, Christine and Kim – stamping and creating ALL Day. Then Monday I was pretty darn lazy and didn’t do much except work on my Germany project in My Digital Studio. I wasn’t sure what to call this one – but it’s kind of like you are making designer paper using the Washi Tape. This card idea came from a swap I received at Convention from Connie Collins one of the Artisan Design team members.
This is how I made my card:
- To create the “paper” you need a piece of Whisper White card stock and you cover it with strips of Washi Tape. This time the tape is from Gingham Garden and from the Christmas tape – I believe it is called Season of Style – but I need to check.
- Next use the Big Shot and the Hearts Framelits to cut out a heart to make a window. Save the heart – we are using that on another card.
- Tie a piece of Linen Thread and a small Old Olive button around the piece.
- To add the ruffled edge – I cut a doily in half and then cut away the solid center part of each half. I add a strip of snail adhesive to the back of the washi paper piece. Ruffle up the strips of the doily and stick it to the adhesive to create the ruffle on the side.
- That piece was then layered on another piece of Whisper White using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Inside the window I stamped the greeting and then added a little punched heart (Red Glimmer paper and the Owl punch).
- The card base is Cherry Cobbler and then a piece of Daffodil Delight below the white.
This is a fun and pretty card and I love the ruffled doily edge on it! Thanks Connie for sharing this card with me. That was project #8 – but there’s more we have to use that little heart we cut out for something too.

Have you seen the new Witches’ Brew Washi Tape in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog? It’s a fun collection. This is another quick and easy Washi tape note card –
For this one the Washi Tape is overlapped on the note card and then I stamped directly on the tape with Black StazOn ink – the little “happy halloween” from Teeny Tiny Wishes. I also stamped in once above the tape too.
I added a tiny Pumpkin Pie button tied with some Linen Thread.
To seal the envelope I think the skull Washi Tape would be really fun to use. Really a very quick an easy card. That makes project #7 from my Washi Tape class – and yes there are still more to come!

I love this cute note card – I found the idea on Pinterest from a demonstrator in Germany. I changed it slightly by making a note card and eliminating some of the layers that she used on her full card. This is my version.
The Gingham Garden Washi tape is layered in the background on the card – the pieces are overlapped with each other. Here is how you make the cute little heart accent piece –
- first punch a small heart in Crumb Cake card stock
- now line the Artisan Label punch up so the spot where you punched out the heart is in the center.
- punch another Artisan Label from Melon Mambo card stock
- Layer them with little bits of Stampin’ Dimensional in between
- cut a piece of Linen Thread and just loop it around using some Snail Adhesive to attach to the back of the Artisan Punched piece
- attach the label with Stampin’ Dimensional to the front of the card
- finish by adding a tiny pearl and rhinestone to the label
