One more fun card from my Cards that Move class – a Telescoping Card. This idea was not from convention or from Shelli but from Julie Davison.
It’s a Halloween card and this is what it looks like closed. I used the Circle Framelits die set to create it. This is what it looks like open –
Each of the circles rotates to open up. The circles are connected with the silver mini brads. So when I made this card and was prepping for my class I just pulled out regular Very Vanilla envelopes. I never tried to put the card in the envelope and when I was having my morning class – guess what? The largest circle in the die set which is the base of this card is too big! Oops. Well guess what I have that Stampin’ Up! just started selling that came to my rescue????
The Envelope Punch Board!! Yes it did – I pulled it out along with the rest of my Witches Brew Designer Series paper and in just a couple of minutes we had custom made envelopes to fit our telescoping card!! Yipee!
I’m so glad I had that Envelope Punch Board to rescue me! And look how cute the matching envelope is. I measured my card by placing it on my grid paper to see how big I needed my envelope to be. Cut the Designer Paper to the size that it said. Placed it on the punch board at the correct score line – then punch, score, rotate – line it up with the little marker along the score line, then punch, score and rotate. Repeat for the other two sides. Corner round all the points. And then fold it up into an envelope. It just take a few minutes – how great is that!

My hands-on stamping class last week was “Cards that Move” – it was a lot of fun. We actually made 4 cards and 1 mini scrapbook. It took much longer than I anticipated and the morning class had to finish quickly because I was late getting Ryan to a doctor appointment – yikes! But we got there only a few minutes late. To speed up my evening class I did a lot of the Big Shot cutting ahead of time. I need to do a better planning job! Everyone really enjoyed the projects.
Most of my projects were “Shelli” projects – she did a presentation at Convention this summer featuring cards that move – so most of the projects were taken from that presentation – with minor changes.
This first card that moves features the Label Pop-‘n-cuts die and the coordinating Deco labels Framelits. Here is the inside:
Here are some notes on how I made it –
- I cut a Daffodil Delight card base – it’s actually a slightly smaller card – the finished size (when it is folded) is 5″ x 4-1/4″. That is so the decorative edge and slits for the Pop ‘n Cuts card base could be trimmed off on the inside layer and the corners rounded instead.
- The front of the card base was embossed with the Chevron Embossing Folder.
- On the front I added Washi Tape from the Gingham Garden collection, a flag that says “hello there” and a little flower.
- Cut Sahara Sand piece for the inside piece – the piece was 4″ wide and 9-1/4″ long and centered on the pop ‘n cuts die to cut the inside piece. Gently fold the cut piece so that the pieces bend into a “table” and then fold flat when the card is closed.
- TIP!! This tip will help you get this pop up card to fold nicely. First be sure the inside piece is “trained” to fold flat. Then put adhesive on ONE side of the inside piece and attach in to the inside of the same side on the card base. Again fold the inside piece flat. Then add adhesive to the second side and fold the card base over it as though you are closing the card. Close the card flat.
- Now open it up and add the decorations to the inside pop up piece. Cut a Deco Label framelit piece out of Whisper White card stock and stamp with the Chevron stamp – I used Tempting Turquoise – and trimmed one edge flat so I could place it up against the inside of the card covering the base.
- For the butterfly I used the Beautiful Butterflies die – the smallest image cut in white and the next smallest Melon Mambo. The white piece has some Washi tape on it. Adhere the butterflies together and tie Baker’s Twine around with a bow at the top.
- Layer on a mini brad – a Daffodil Delight flower, stamped Word Window punch, the butterflies, a flag of designer paper. Add to the center of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Be sure that the butterfly doesn’t interfere with the folding of the card.
It’s a really happy card to send to some one special!

What do you get when you combine the Bitty Butterfly punch, a Doily and some Washi Tape? A really cute card of course!
This cute card was part of a set and a cute little box (I’ll show the rest later – still need pictures of those) that we made over the summer. It was a project that my friend Cindy created for our retreat just before convention. I made this version for a some of my classes here at home. I used a different stamp set for the greeting (I didn’t have the one Cindy used). And I believe Cindy use card stock for the little butterfly and I used designer paper. Here are some details on how to put this card together.
- Punch a strip of Daffodil Delight card stock with the Scallop Border punch. Attach to a Whisper White card stock layer.
- Attach a piece of Designer Series paper – this one is from the Gingham Garden collection
- Attach the paper doily
- Add a piece of the Gingham Garden Washi tape (the floral pattern) – over the doily along the top of the deisgner paper. Trim at the edges of the Whisper White card stock.
- Attach the white later to a Melon Mambo card base.
- Create tag – stamp greeting and notch the ends. Add Baker’s Twine to the end and tie in a bow. Attach to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals
- punch butterfly using the Bitty Butterfly punch (it’s part of the bundle special this month) add to card front
- finish with the Rhinestones
I love that all of the Stampin’ Up! products coordinate together so well – the Gingham Garden collection includes the Designer paper and the Washi tape – it makes it easy to use together on a project.

Yep – I have another one. Another Washi Tape note card to share. It wasn’t part of the Washi Tape class though.
This one is really easy
- start with one of the note cards (envelopes are included)
- stamp a greeting near the bottom of the card – I used Island Indigo ink and the A Dozen Thoughts stamp set
- Add some Washi tape – I used the Gingham Garden collection
- Punch butterflies from Daffodil Delight card stock – I used the Elegant Butterfly punch and the Bitty Butterfly punch
- Finish with a candy dot in the middle of the layered butterfly

I have one final card for you from my Washi Tape class. And when you see this card you might ask – Where’s the Washi Tape?
Well there isn’t actually any Washi Tape on the card itself but I did use Washi Tape to make the card.
So here is what you do –
- get a piece of Washi Tape – I seem to have one roll out of my pack that I don’t use much so that is the one I used for this project
- get out your ink – I’m using Daffodil Delight in these samples
- Put the Washi Tape in the ink
- Then pull it up
- Put the inked Washi tape on your card stock
- Then pull it back up
- Repeat with another piece of tape and a new color – Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz are on my card.
After you create the back ground then stamp over with the image – I used Black StazOn for mine.
I did the same on the corner of the envelope to make it match. And if you get a smudge on your card (like I did) just add another stripe of color over the smudge – you’ll never see it after that.
We actually made one more thing in my Washi Tape class – we decorated one of the Tag-a-Bag Boxes to hold all the Washi Tape. It holds all 12 rolls that Stampin’ Up! has – 4 sets with 3 designs in each set. But I must not have taken a picture of it so I can’t show that one right now.

Q&A – GLITTER
|  Q&AQ: I love glitter but I’m not always certain of the different ways to use it. What do you suggest?A: Glitter is a stamping girl’s best friend! There are many ways to apply glitter to your project. Liquid adhesives, Heat & Stick Powder, Sticky Strip, Shaker Frames, and Adhesive Sheets are some of my favorites. Read on to find out more about using each! Liquid Adhesives
  
Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Crystal Effects, and the 2-Way Glue Pen are the go-to methods of adding glitter highlights and details to your projects. They are all great for our ultra-fine Stampin’ Glitters like Dazzling Details (#102023). Crystal Effects gives the extra hold needed for chunky glitter like our Glass Stampin’ Glitter (#120997 Champagne, #120995 Silver). You simply apply the adhesive in the form you want and then sprinkle the glitter on top. Let dry before you tap off the excess. Heat & Stick Powder
 
This ingenious adhesive masquerades as embossing powder. You’ll want to use Heat & Stick Powder (#100625) when you want to make a glittery stamped image. Simply stamp the image with VersaMark Ink, apply Heat & Stick Powder and heat set like you would if you were heat embossing. Cover the Heat & Stick Powder with glitter while it is still hot and sticky. Tap off the excess and heat again to set the glitter in the Heat & Stick. Sticky Strip
   When you want to add a nice, even strip of glitter, Sticky Strip (#104294) is the answer. Place Sticky Strip across your project, around the rim of a jar, or a picture frame. Press it down firmly and then pull off the red backing. Cover with glitter – even Glass Stampin’ Glitter works well. Continue to cover with the glitter until no more will stick. Use a scrap piece of paper to press the glitter firmly onto the tape. Glass Stampin’ Glitter is glass so be careful when pressing. Tap off excess and you are done! I’ve seen wonderful rainbows of
color using this technique. You simply remove one row of tape and apply glitter before moving on to the next row
to add a different shade of glitter. Shaker Frames
When you want a real “wow”, add glitter to a Shaker Frame (#124155) to create a sparkly effect inside a 3-Dimensional window. Adhere a Shaker Frame around a stamped image then add glitter. Remove the backing from the Shaker Frame and cover with a piece of Window Sheet (#114323). Your image will peek out from the sparkly window. Shaker Frames and glitter create a snow-like effect and are also fun for special occasions like birthdays and weddings. Adhesive Sheets
Think of Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets (#120805) as really big, double-sided tape with protective backing on both sides. You can apply a piece of Adhesive Sheet to Designer Series Paper or cardstock, and then die-cut it into an assortment of shapes with the Big Shot. Basically, you’ve created a shaped sticker in the
colors of your choice. Peel off the backing and cover with glitter. Press in the glitter and tap off excess and you have a beautiful, sparkly embellishment for your project. Never Enough Bling
 If you still need more sparkle, you’ll also love Glimmer Paper and Dazzling Details glitter adhesive, both available in an assortment of
colors. This home décor project is full of inspiration. The heart was embossed with VersaMark ink and Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on the Silver Glimmer Paper. Add Sparkle
