Jul 5, 2018 | Cards, Designer Series Paper, Masculine, sympathy |
I hope you had a grand 4th of July celebration with family and friends. Ours was quiet except for the fireworks outside from our neighbors. The dogs are so stressed by them that we stay home. This year I tried some new anxiety meds for them. It seemed to work well for Aspen, he just laid right next to me the whole night. But Magnolia was still stressed and Greg and I took turns trying to hold her to make her feel safe.
For my card today I’m featuring the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper. This one is a 6×6″ stack of paper with a large variety of different types of wood on each side of the sheet. It’s a very popular paper pack and was the only one that carried over from our last annual catalog.

I used two stamp sets on this one – Waterfront for the trees and the Itty Bitty Greetings for the words. The words are stamped and the punched out with the Classic Label punch. To get the flagged ends use the same punch but stick each end back in from the side to create the banner.

Supply List
- Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack (part of the July sale)
- Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set

Quick & Easy cards are favorites for many people. I often look at ideas in the Stampin’ Up! catalog and then make a few changes to the colors and/or stamp set and ta-da I have a new quick & easy card. If you look throughout the catalog there are ideas marked “Quick & Easy” and some include You Can Make It supply lists so you know exactly what was used.
I found the Quick & Easy card on page 41 in the annual catalog. It however used a stamp set that I didn’t have. So I switched it for a different one and created this.

I kept the colors the same – Emerald Envy, Very Vanilla, Delightful Dijon, Early Espresso.
I used the same layout – but flipped it to be landscape instead of portrait.
I used the same washi tape – Moroccan Designer Washi Tape.
I used the same punch – Petite Petals Punch.
I even used the same technique on the flower – scrunch it up to break down the fibers in the card stock giving it some dimension.
I used a different stamp set. For my card I used the Rose Wonder stamp set.
And I left off the Bakers Twine.
What do you think? Can you use that card from the catalog and create another version for yourself? It’s Quick & Easy!
Thanks for stopping by!

Have you picked out a favorite from the new Stampin’ Up! In-Colors? I have two favorites right now – Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon. This card features the new Lost Lagoon In-Color.

I used two stamp sets for this card – Blooming with Kindness and Thoughts & Prayers. At one of my card classes this month I had a request for sympathy cards. I designed it as a sympathy card but with the greetings in the Blooming with Kindness stamp set those that didn’t need a sympathy card could easily make a birthday or thank you card by using a different greeting.

May 20, 2014 | Cards, In Colors, Retired List, sympathy |
It seems these last few weeks I have had many family and friends that have experienced a loss of someone in their lives. I have been trying to create some sympathy cards to send out and for some reason its just not easy to do. I created this card for my hands-on class using some of the retiring products from Stampin’ Up!

This card uses the very pretty Field Flowers stamp set and I paired it with the So Sorry stamp set – both are on the retired list. Since the card base is so dark – Chocolate Chip – I added a Whisper White layer on the inside of the card for writing a short note. The Gumball Green and Primrose Petals are two of the retiring In-Colors. And the Dahlia’s are retiring too – they make a cute little flower accent.
Here are all the products I used. The So Sorry stamp set is already sold out. And the Banner Punch will be available in the new catalog June 2nd.
I took some new bluebird pictures today – I still need to download them to the computer so I can share them with you. Have a great day!

Are you ready for Spring? I am!
In a normal winter I think we have a handful of days that we get below freezing, let alone in the teens or lower. It seems like this winter that has been the norm. What is up with this weather? I’m afraid all my plants are going to be frozen and dead I guess I’ll find out in a few months. I did notice the Bluebirds are starting to house hunt. They have been going in and out of the bird houses trying to choose the one they want this year. Normally they always take the same one but we shall see what they decide on this year. I’d like to put a little sign on each – Welcome Blue Birds, Welcome Chick-a-dees, Welcome Titmouse – and then they would know which house is theirs – but I don’t think they would care.
Anyway this little card idea that I found on Pinterest (by Claire Daly) has a beautiful bird image on it from the Stampin’ Up! Hostess set – Simply Sketched. It’s a set you may have missed seeing in the catalog – since the hostess sets are now in the very back I think they aren’t noticed quite so much. I know I keep forgetting I have it.
Here is what I used on mine:
- Soft Suede card base
- StazOn Jet Black ink, Soft Suede & Pool Party Classic ink for watercoloring
- Ovals Collection Framelits
- Large Oval punch
- Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Paper (the Pool Party strip), Modern Medley Deisgner paper (the music strip), Neutrals Collection Designer Paper Stack (the Soft Suede strip)
- Naturals White card stock – what the bird image is stamped on
There are three greetings in the stamp set – I chose to use the sympathy one, but there is also a birthday and a thanks. It makes this a very versatile set.
It’s going to be a good one to use with the new Blendabilities Markers that will be coming out some time this quarter from Stampin’ Up! They are our new alcohol based marker sets. There will be 12 colors ( I think to begin with so I believe more will be added later) coming in sets of 3 markers – each set has a Dark, Medium and Light version of the color. If you click on the photo below you should be able to read the colors on the larger version.

There will also be a color lifter and skin tone colors. These are in production here in the US and will be available sometime this quarter. I’ll let you know when Stampin’ Up! gives us more information.
Thanks for stopping by today.
