Convention Swap – Christmas Punch card

I did make a Christmas Card as one of my convention swaps.  This card uses the new Christmas Punch Level 2 Hostess set.  Christmas-Punch-card

You might recall I made a little box of Tags a while back when I first got this set – click here for that post.  Well this card is modeled after that box.  I think I may go back and add the snowflakes to the tag box because I love how they turned out on the Kraft card stock.

The strip is Old Olive card stock and then the Chocolate Chip Patterns Designer paper.  The stamp is stamped in Old Olive ink and fits the Wide Oval punch.  I punched a 1-3/4″ Old Olive circle to put behind it.  I added the little brown flower button from the Button Latte set – it has linen thread tied through the center.  This is actually a very quick Christmas card to make.

It is in the high 90s most of the week in Salt Lake City.  That is where I am for the Stampin’ Up! Convention. I’ll be home Sunday night with tons of new ideas to share!

Think Cool Thoughts!

Convention Swap – Envelope Card

At our STARZ meeting at convention we also had a swap with everyone – 30 of us – so I made this card for my last class and decided to use it as my swap card for the meeting.  envelope-card

This card is made out of a medium envelope.  You seal the envelope shut and then cut off one end – the small piece becomes the lid which I then scalloped the edge on – sponged and tied the ribbon around.  My colors are Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry.  This photo is a bit dark so it looks brighter in person.  The bottom portion becomes a pocket – stamp on it first then run it through the crimper.  This causes it to shrink up just enough that it fits into the lid.  I decorated the front with the butterfly from the Great Friend stamp set.  The grass is from Inspired by Nature.

Then inside my pocket I have a place for a note. envelope-card-open I did punch out a half circle from the top of the pocket so you can easily get out the insert.  This was also decorated with the Great Friend set and the grass.  I sponged all my white edges with the Rich Razzleberry ink.

I hope all the STARZ girls like this swap card.  There should be 30 of us at the meeting so I’ll have their swap cards to share with you after convention.

Happy Stampin’!

Convention Shoebox Swap – Pocket Card

On Tuesday night my roommates(Sue, Michele, Diane) and I participated in a Shoebox swap with a group of Demonstrators at one of the local hotels.  This is my first real Shoebox swap at convention and I’m excited to participate.  Basically this is how it works – there are in this case 42 people plus the hostess.  Everyone designs a full card and you cuts supplies for 42+1 for the hostess.  Half of them we make into finished cards and the other half stay as pieces.  When we get there we turn in our finished cards and take our shoebox to a spot at a table.  Inside the shoebox are the pieces for the other cards (individually bagged) plus all the supplies needed to make the card and a completed card.  Then we get divided into two groups.  Each group makes half of the 42 cards by rotating around the tables to all of the shoeboxes.  Then when we leave we pick up the other half of the cards that are already made for us.  The hostess sorts all the finished cards while we are making the non-finished ones.

Animal-Stories-Pocket-CardHere is my card for the Shoebox Swap – I hope everyone likes it – it is a Pocket card – I love pocket cards for invitations but birth announcements and even as a gift card holder it would work too.  This one just says “let’s celebrate” so it could be made into an invitation or just a birthday card.

The stamp set is Animal Stories and I used the Tall Tales Designer Series Paper.  The colors are Old Olive, So Saffron, Chocolate Chip and Brilliant Blue.

The picture shows two cards – one with the insert pulled out of the pocket and one with it tucked inside.

I hope everyone liked it.

This should be posting on Wed – and it is check-in day and our first glimpse at Memento Mall!

Happy Stampin’!

Convention swap card – Dog

Tuesday is the day I am leaving for convention – and if these work correctly this should be posting on Tuesday – so I’m probably on the plane right now!  It is so exciting every year!  This is my 4th convention and I hope to get to go to many more!  So while I’m gone I plan to share some of my swap cards and projects that I made for convention.

This card I created for my last class and also to take as a swap to convention.  dog-wags-cardI love dogs and this uses one of the new sets that is in the catalog called D is for Dog.  There is also a C is for Cat set so if you are a cat person instead of a dog person just substitute the other set since they were designed with the same basic pieces in them.

The little bone on the ribbon was Lisa’s idea.  Wasn’t it a great idea – it added just the perfect touch to this very quick and simple card.  The Chocolate Chip piece is stamped with the bone and paw images in Chocolate Chip ink.  Then we tied a piece of Old Olive wide Grosgrain ribbon around and attached it with dimensionals to the card front.  The dog is stamped in Chocolate Chip ink on Whisper White card stock and cut out.  He is also popped up on dimensionals.  The bone is stamped and cut out and tied to the ribbon with a piece of white crochet thread.  The little quote is “a dog wags its tail with its heart. – Martin Buxbaum”.

Very quick and minimal supplies for this one.

Have a great week!

Great Friend card

Here is another STARZ swap card.  This one was designed by Michelle Scileppi.  Another set that I really like – it must be the butterflies!starz-swap-4

Here is a list of supplies:

  • Dusty Durango card stock
  • Soft Suede card stock
  • Certainly Celery card stock
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Vellum card stock
  • Great Friend stamp set
  • Soft Suede classic ink
  • Certainly Celery classic ink
  • Whisper White craft ink
  • White Gel Pen
  • Distresser tool
  • Big Shot Die Cut machine
  • SU Little Leaves Sizzlet Die
  • 1-3/4″ circle punch

But this card has a surprise – it is a pop-up on the inside…. starz-swap-4bhow fun is that.

If you remember last week I posted a tennis card and this is the card I modeled it after.

We saw this kind of pop-up card at convention last year but I hadn’t tried to make one until I saw Michelle’s card.  Sometimes it is better to have an actual example in hand to work from that just a picture.  That’s why swap cards are so great.  I’m headed to convention next week and will be back with lots of swap cards.  I’m participating in a Shoebox swap on Tuesday night – I’ll tell you more about that later.  We have a STARZ meeting at convention and we’ll do a swap there as well as make some projects that various demos are sharing.  And then we’ll have Make-n-Takes during convention and general swapping with any demos we run into along the way – at the airport, at the hotel, walking the around Salt Lake City, in between classes, standing in line, …… you get the picture.

Have a great weekend!
