Just Tennis

I tried to post this earlier today – and my internet went out and was down most of the day – I was hoping my post got saved but it didn’t so I’m starting over.

I thought I would try a change of pace and post something that wasn’t related to the holidays.  Tennis season just ended for us – unless your team is in the playoffs and no one in our family fits that category this time.  Ryan’s junior tennis team has had the same husband and wife coach them for many years – they were doing it long before Ryan joined the team.  They are the nicest couple and so good with the kids – always encouraging to them and positive.  They are great with the parents too – keeping us well informed.  I appreciate that and know it is a lot of hard work.  So to thank them we bought a gift card and I made them a thank you card – so I wanted to share that with you today.  It is a quick simple card that could be made with any of the Just “sport” stamp sets or even other stamp sets with circles or flowers.

tennis-thank-youHere are the Stampin’ Up! supplies I used:

  • Garden Green card stock and ink
  • Basic Black card stock and ink
  • Whisper White card stock
  • Summer Sun ink
  • Just Tennis stamp set
  • Flight of the Butterfly stamp set (for the sentiment)
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • 3/4″ circle punch
  • slit punch (on the front under the black to hold the gift card on the inside)
  • Whisper White Medium envelope

And I just found my notes from Cari’s Congo Cookie recipe that I was supposed to share with my stamp club members.

Here it is:

CONGO COOKIES

  • 3-eggs
  • 1-1/2 stick butter
  • 2-3/4 cups flour
  • 1 box lt brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 12oz. bag of chocolate chips

Melt butter and mix with brown sugar.  let cool.  add beaten eggs.  add allother ingredients.  Bake in a greased 13 x 9 pan at 350 for 30-35 minutes.

Enjoy!

Sports Scrapbook Pages

Well I had planned to post this yesterday but the rest of the day got away from me.  Sorry about that…

I actually made these scrapbook pages last month – in September for my scrapbook class.   The two-page 12×12 layout was easy to adapt to any sport.  I made the Soccer layout for my class sample and then created the Tennis layout during the class.  At the class the ladies did a variety including baseball/softball layouts and football/cheer layout.   If you didn’t want sports at all you could have used  Circle Circus or other circles or flowers.  The layout itself was an old one from a magazine that has been in my stack of layouts to work with.  I also created the same layout using My Digital Studio – I was able to play around with the photos in the layout  before printing them.  My Digital Studio has the Sporting stamp set with all the words but not the individual Just sports sets.  But you could do a hybrid version and print the My Digital Studio version and then add the stamped sports images.  One cool thing about the My Digital Studio that didn’t really work with the traditional scrapbook page was putting the words directly on top of the picture.  In my traditional layout I cut my picture shorter and put the GO TEAM underneath it.    The tennis layout doesn’t have pictures on it yet – I’ll be adding those as soon as I get them printed.

Supplies used include:

– Sporting stamp set

– Just Soccer stamp set

– My Way Punch

– Circle Punches – several sizes

– Spiral Punch

– Big Shot & GoGo Boots Alphabet die

– Night of Navy, Real Red, Summer Sun card stock and ink

The one thing I couldn’t do in My Digital Studio was the Spiral Punch – I’ll have to look at that more and see if I can find that – if may have been there and I missed it.  So you see that here in my traditional layout.

The Tennis version uses the same supplies except the Just Tennis stamp set for all the accent pieces – here it is without pictures on it.

For the Tennis layout I may add some White Gel Pen lines by the tennis balls at the bottom of the page – I wanted them to look like they were bouncing and right now they look kind of out of place so I think I’ll add that when I put my pictures on.

So then the My Digital Studio version is done with the Soccer pictures – I’ll show you the Left page – it just has white circles where the soccer balls should have been.  I didn’t actually print the My Digital Studio version as a 12 x 12 but I was able to export it to a jpg file so I could share it here and I printed it just on paper to take to my craft room as my sample.  So the My Digital Studio software can be used for a design tool – where you can play around with elements and photos without cutting card stock or printing photos until you know what size and where you want everything.

I didn’t finish adding all the stamped words in there but wanted to have an idea for comparison. The font is different since the Big Shot dies aren’t actually in My Digital Studio – you can add text by using the fonts that you have loaded on your computer and you can change them to any of the Stampin’ Up! colors.

So what do you think?  How do they compare?

I have this month’s scrapbook pages ready to share later this week so come back again.

It’s a rainy day (again) and a good day to stay inside and stamp (no one really wants to clean house so go stamp instead).

Seasonal Plate Project

At the Stamper’s Club meeting last Friday we made another gift project.  This time it was a Seasonal Decorative Plate.  This idea was presented at convention I think 2 years ago as a monthly idea.  Using a glass plate the presenter made a circle that fit in the center of the plate for each month of the year.  Since that time I have seen many variations on this idea some with the decorated circles behind the plate and others on the front.  A few months ago Stampin’ Up! had one of their stamping challenges and a plate project was submitted by Mary Beth Brown – it didn’t win the challenge but it was shown on the demonstrator website.  It was a seasonal plate using the Season of Friendship stamp set which is one of my favorites.  So I put together this project for my club using Mary Beth’s idea with current Designer Series Papers.  I loved how it turned out.

fall-plateToday I’ll share the fall and winter inserts and when I get home I’ll share the others.  It is such a dreary day here – raining and COLD.  The news said tonight there could be snow flurries mixed with the rain.  I’m in VA and I think the weather in Georgia is very similar.

The fall plate insert uses the Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper.  The colors are Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Really Rust, Taken with Teal and Very Vanilla.  This paper is so much prettier in person than it is in the mini catalog.

winter-plateThe Winter plate uses the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper – the piece with the Chocolate Chip snowflakes.  The other colors I used are Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Ruby Red, and Very Vanilla.

I will say though that my feet are nice and warm since we just got back from getting a pedicure.  Girl time sure is fun!

Tonight is Homecoming at Etowah where my boys go to school and Tyler is going to the dance – with a girl – and I’m not there… I think he is glad about that so I can’t fuss over him.  I had most things taken care of before I left – got a new jacket, had it altered, had a new shirt, got it dry-cleaned, got a new tie, had the shoes and pants, ordered the corsage.  Today Greg had to take care of picking up the flowers, and being the chauffeur and taking pictures – I hope he takes pictures!  And I hope he calls me with all the scoop…

Stay dry and warm – thanks for stopping by today.

More Halloween

from-the-crypt This Halloween card was another swap card from convention.  When I get home I’ll update with the creator – I don’t have that with me right now.  This is a gate fold card that opens in the middle.  The Skull image is on a piece that is attached only to the right side of the card. And tucks under the spider to hold it shut.

The stamp set is From the Crypt and the skull is embossed with Black.  You could create the white part of the skull with a white gel pen, or use a bleaching technique.  You could probably even “paint” on white craft ink.  The little spide accent was also embossed in black.

Inside the card are the Spooky Treats rub-ons.

It is a really dreary day here in VA.  But we stayed inside at the Craftsman Classic Arts & Crafts Fair.  we walked around through all the vendor booths and did a little bit of shopping.  We came home and stamped a little and now we are headed to dinner at the Melting Pot – I’ve never been there before so I’m looking forward to it.  Have a great rest of the day!

On the Trail – Scrapbook layout

Today I wanted to share a scrapbook layout from last month’s class.  This was actually a layout I made at least a year or more ago – but I updated it to use the new Autumn Meadows Designer Series paper and colors and changed the accent pieces, stamp sets, etc.  So it looks completely different.

 On-The-Trail-left On-the-trail-right

The left page has the pockets with the tags that pull out for hidden journaling or extra photos.  You could add more if you needed.

I doodled around the edges with a chocolate chip marker and did alot of sponging.  The stamp set is Lovely as a Tree – it is good for so many things.  I plan to add my hiking pictures from our fall break mini vacation to Red Top Mtn.

It looks like the rain followed me from Georgia to Virginia.  But it is cold here and I didn’t bring that along – it was at least warm at home.  Time to go to the craft room and start stamping!

Have a great day!

Halloween Frights

I’m going to share a few Halloween cards this week – these are not cards that I created but cards form the swaps at convention.  I am out of town and I uploaded the pictures to my blog so that I can share them with you  while I’m away from my computer but I forgot to write down who the creator was.  I’ll have to come back and add that when I get back home.  Or if you know who it is then leave a comment.

Halloween-frights-cardThe first one is the Halloween Frights card.  This was a card that we made at the Shoebox swap that I particpated in at convention this year.

The stamp set is Halloween Frights on page 24 in the Idea Book & Catalog.  It is a stamp set with a variety of small stamps – you could mix and match them to suit your needs.  This is a fun card – I’m not sure what to call it – but I think of it as a peek-a-boo card.  The cat image is actually attached on the inside of the card and peeks through the hole punched in the front.  The 1-3/4″ punch was used to punch the hole.  The other elements are on 1-1/4″ circles, framed in 1-3/8″ circles and scallop circles.

The colors used here are Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black.  The picture I took isn’t very good because it was raining again in Georgia when I took them.  We were close to flooding again on Monday and more rain was supposed to come today – but I’m away from home (in Virginia) – so I don’t know if it is actually raining or not.

Today is an exciting day – first I’ll have my phone interview with Stampin’ Up! for the December issue of Stampin’ Success magazine.  Then tonight I am going to Christina Crawford’s Stamp Camp.  She was #32 Demonstrator of the Year this year.  It should be fun! And today and the rest of the week I get to spend with my sister-in-law, Stephanie, stamping in her craft room.  What fun!

Have a wonderful day!
