Jun 21, 2010 | Best Wishes & More, Cards, Retired List, SU Buttons |
This month my hands-on stamping featured items on the Stampin’ Up! Last Chance list. These stamp sets will no longer be available after the end of June. The retiring colors and accessories are available while supplies last through the end of June. If you see something you love make sure to get it before it is gone. Your best bet is to order online through my Stampin’ Up! store – the store will update you with what is available.
This card features the stamp set Best Wishes & More. I stamped the flowers and the leaves on a piece of Whisper White card stock and cut them out and layered them on the white square. The colors I used for this card are Ballet Blue (this one is retiring), Rose Red and Always Artichoke. I also used a piece of Rose Red Designer Series Paper from the Thoroughly Modern Designer Series paper pack (this one is retiring). And there is some Always Artichoke ribbon (this is retiring) on the side as an accent.
The flower centers have Fresh Favorites buttons that are also on the last chance list. A matching envelope coordinates with the card so you’ll be ready to put it in the mail to someone deserving.
Thanks for stopping in today!

Jun 20, 2010 | Big Shot, Designer Series Paper, My Digital Studio, Tags, Thank You Kindly |
One of the specialty Designer Series paper packs that Stampin’ Up! had in this catalog was the Write Stuff Specialty pack – it was one that I really liked the paper that was included but wasn’t always sure what I wanted to do with all the die-cut elements that were included. Well I finally figured out what to do with them. Look here…..
I made them into tags!
I cut a few of the bigger ones in half. I used the Thank You Kindly stamp set and stamped them. Then added some of the die cut butterflies and one of the larger ones has the two-step bird on it. These were actually left over die-cut pieces from another project.
I use these on my orders – tie them to the bag as a little thank you! I know everyone loves the tags that I add and they just make a really nice touch to each order. The Write Stuff Specialty Designer Series pa
per is on the retired list right now so if you want to order a pack go to my online store and order today. Or you have another option – download the digital set for My Digital Studio. Then you can print out what ever you need when you need and add the “Thank You” using My Digital Studio before you print. You’ll need to cut or punch out the shapes once you print it on your card stock. Here is an example of some I made real quick just now in MDS – it took just a couple of minutes – after they are printed then add the butterflies and punch the holes.
To order this digital kit – the item number is #120881 for $9.95. It includes all the papers and the die cut images from the real kit.
Have a great weekend!

Jun 18, 2010 | Almost Artisan, Baroque Motifs, Big Shot |
Well this post is my last project for the Artisan Award contest. I really loved how this turned out. It is based on the little Hugs & Kisses holder I created earlier this year – click here to see it – for that one I used the scallop square die and
the Big Shot. For this one I started with a 12×12 piece of card stock and if I remember correctly I had to trim it down to 11-3/4″ x 11-3/4″ so that I could use the Scallop Trim Corner and Edge punches to get an even scalloped edge on all four sides.
I know that there are several instructions and videos on how to use the corner and edge punches together. I have tried those and by the time I get to the fourth side I no longer have a square or rectangle so I had to come up with what worked for me. I punch all four corners first and then fill in between with the edge punch. In order for this to work though you need to start with a size that allows even scallops on each side.
Anyway I got the scallops even all the way around and added a little white gel pen dot on each of the little scallops. Then each side has a piece of So Saffron Designer Series Paper. I decorated each of the sides – here are some close up photos of those:
The base is stamped with the large swirl from Baroque Motifs on each side using Old Olive ink. This first side has a scalloped layered flower and butterflies. I used Ballet Blue and So Saffron as my colors. The center of the flower has an embossed button tied with linen thread. The large butterfly has a beaded body and it is layered with several butterflies from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit die.
The second side as a bluebird made from the two-step bird punch. I used sponges to add the colors – Ballet Blue and Really Rust to create the bird which was punched from the Naturals White card stock. Then some little flowers from the Trio Flower punch and the Little Leaves die was used for branches.
The third side is similar to the first just rearranged differently.
The fourth side is similar to the second side.
I think this would be a really pretty center piece on a table for a bridal shower, wedding or other spring/summer event. Or change the colors and decorations for whatever season you need.
Here is a view from the top looking down.
I filled the inside with some straw after tying up the centers with some of the Old Olive Satin Ribbon. This would have been pretty for Easter with an egg nestled in each section.
That is the last of my Artisan Award projects that I entered into the contest. Looking back now at my projects as compared to the retired list and colors – I think I used lots of retiring product – not that we knew any of that before our projects were mailed in. But I guess my work is not in the current style that they may have been looking for.
There is always next year……

Jun 15, 2010 | Charming, Tags |
One of the items that Stampin’ Up! is renovating is the Color Coach – that would make sense since they are doing a complete Color Renovation. I was so excited when I heard about the new Color Coach – it sounded so much better than the wheel we had before. As a demonstrator Stampin’ Up! lets us pre-order a selection of products from the new catalog and guess what – the Color Coach was one of them and I LOVE IT!! It is 100 times better than what we had before.
I used it this weekend when I was making thank you gifts for my Opportunity Night event. I decided to make tags for my cello bags that had little stamps inside for everyone. And I wanted to use the new colors that are being added to the core colors. So I pulled out the color coach to look at the color combination’s on the back. Without even thinking about it I just used what SU suggested and I loved every one of them when I was done!
So here is my basket of Thank You gifts – everyone that came to my Opportunity Night got to pick one.

And here is a close up of each tag – I used the same design for each one and just changed the colors –
This one is Cajun Craze – part of the new Regals Collection
And this combo is Cajun Craze, Old Olive and Baja Breeze.
Next is Cherry Cobbler – also part of the new Regals Collection.
The combo for this one is Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight and Early Expresso.
This pretty new yellow is Daffodil Delight and it belongs in the Brights Collection.
The color combo is Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy and Old Olive. This one is one of the Getting Started Collection combos.
Then we have Early Expresso a new darker brown that is in the Neutrals Collection. A very simple combo of Early Expresso, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White.
This last one is Marina Mist which is a new blue in the Subtles Collection.
The color combo here was Marina Mist, Real Red and Old Olive.
The stamp sets I used for the tags are the Charming stamp set and Tiny Tags stamp sets – little images in these make perfect tags. And the new larger scallop circle punch is awesome! It is a great size and layers with our scallop circle punch that we already have.
I hope you like all these great color combos as much as I did. There are lots more on the new color coach. I can’t wait to play some more with the color coach and the combos.
Thanks for visiting today. I’ll be posting the rest of my Artisan Award project entries this week – I think I have one of each type left – a card, a scrapbook page and a 3D.

Jun 10, 2010 | Almost Artisan, Animal Stories, Big Shot, Build-a-Bear, Rock 'n Roll |
I’m back with another project that I submitted for the Stampin’ Up! Artisan Award Contest. This is one of the two 3D projects that I created.

I actually made this box originally as a project for Create with Connie & Julie and it was a birthday theme – click here to see that one. I recreated it for the contest and made a new baby theme. One of my friends, Jenn, said she thought the box would be perfect for a baby gift and I agree. I needed something to go inside so I bought cloth diapers and cut Build-a-Bears with pajamas on them and put those on the diapers and added the ribbon trim. I thought they would be cute burp cloths.
The box has 6 burp cloths inside – 3 in So Saffron and 3 in Old Olive. I rolled them up and tied them with the Striped Ribbon.
The box is made from the Fancy Favor box – actually two of them. On each side of the box I have two Build-a-Bears and they are all “holding hands” all the way around the box. I made a boy and a girl on each side. I added the animals in between. The paper is the Tall Tales Designer Series paper.
I was really happy with the little hanging tag once I figured out what I wanted to do. The giraffe is cute with the Rock-N-Roll technique – inked in So Saffron and rolled in Chocolate Chip. The tag is two sided since you could see both sides of the project and I didn’t want an “ugly” side. So the back of each animal is colored to match the front. You can just barely see the back of the other giraffe – it is So Saffron.
I hope you like it. It was fun to make. Although I don’t see myself making any more little bear burp cloths. The material of those cloth diapers was just hard to work with because the edges were pretty thin. Oh well. All in all a cute project.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Jun 1, 2010 | Almost Artisan, Cards, Occasion Mini 2010, Pocket Silhouettes |
I hope you like my first card from my Artisan Award entries that I showed yesterday – it was one of my favorite ones. But I also really like this one
even though I don’t normally make such bright cards. This one is on a Melon Mambo Textured card stock base. I used Basic Black, Crushed Curry and Old Olive with it. The focal piece is a 3×3 square and could be used on its own for a tag or small card.
Lately I seem to enjoy adding the doodles on my projects – this time I used the black journaler to add the doodles and then also added the splatter from Itty Bitty Backgrounds – I know that stamp set has been around forever and I sure do hope it doesn’t retire. I use it a lot.
Here is a look at the inside. It is stamped and doodles to match the front. And I added a thin Basic Black strip and the Crushed Curry scallop trim edge on one side.
Thanks for checking in today and looking at my work. This was my second card out of 5 for the Artisan Award Contest.
