May 31, 2010 | Almost Artisan, Baroque Motifs, Cards, Embossing, Occasion Mini 2010, Sale-A-Bration 2010, Thank You |
It was really hard not sharing these projects earlier. Since we made them during the Sale-A-Bration and Occasions Mini Catalog sales period some of my projects use items from these. They were current at the time so they were eligible for the contest. Even though the judging occurred after they ended. I wonder if that had anything to do with the chosen winners. Between that and using what are now going to be retiring colors – that was announced after I sent my entry in and when you see one of my scrapbook pages it ended up with a bunch of retiring colors on it. Oh well…
So here is card #1 – I considered this to be my vintage card. I had actually created a scrapbook page with this idea and posted it on my blog earlier – click here to see it – and when I was creating for the Artisan contest I kept coming back to that page but knew I couldn’t enter it since it was already on my blog. My solution was to make a card using the same idea.
It is a very pretty card in person – I’m not sure the picture does it any justice. The card base is Basic Black and the stamping is done with Versamark and embossed with Clear Embossing powder. I love this look.
I used the Vintage Labels stamp set from Sale-A-Bration – too bad that one isn’t still available. The others are all still current – Charming, Tiny Tags, and Baroque Motifs.
The colors are Crushed Curry, Basic Black and Whisper White.
I had also decided to decorate the inside of each of my cards. I go in phases of doing this. And I usually always do it when the card base is dark like the Basic Black. The inside was pretty simple but matched with the front of the card.
So that is my first entry for the Artisan Award.
I hope you like it. And that you’ll come back to see the rest!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

May 27, 2010 | Flower for All Seasons, Inspired by Nature, Scrapbook Pages |
I am here. Only one more day of school for Ryan and Tyler – well not even a whole day just part of a day. And Kyle has been done. He had graduation practice this morning and tomorrow night is graduation. I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone by. I’ll need to do some more scrapbooking for him to finish his books. But for now I’ll be sharing some other things.
I had a fun scrapbook class on Wednesday and this is one of the 2-page layouts that we made.

I used the stamp sets Flower for All Seasons and Inspired by Nature – don’t you just love the grass you can use it for so many things. The original layout is from an earlier month of Wow Scrapbook Kits. It was originally made as a birthday page in pinks and blues. The Wow Scrapbook layouts are easy to adapt to other themes using different colors and stamp sets. Right now we have tutorials for sale and some completed pages. This is a joint venture between Wendy and I. Wendy is currently planning to move so we are doing some spring cleaning and selling completed Wow Scrapbook pages. Visit our blog – wowscrapbookkits.wordpress.com – to see what we have out there right now. And come back later as more gets added.
Have a wonderful day – I need to decide what pictures I want to add to this layout. I love the little frog and the butterflies. The colors are Ruby Red, Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip. The images were watercolored with an Aquapainter – I have a couple of close up pictures to show you.

I hope you like it – I thought it turned out to be a happy page and could be used for many different things.

Apr 28, 2010 | Big Shot, Cards, Create with Connie & Mary, Fifth Avenue Floral |

Wow! I had some amazing comments yesterday! I’m so glad everyone loved the Scrapbook in a Box. It is just a great project and easy to adapt to so many things. It would be cute decorated like a baby block full of baby pictures!
Thank you! Thank you! For all the wonderfully nice comments. I loved reading them all and I think I replied to everyone. If I missed you I’m sorry I had a lot! And some replies came back with errors so the email address didn’t work for some reason.
I was going through some scrapbook pages and found this card mixed in with them. I don’t think I have shared it on my blog. I thought I would share it with you today for a couple of reasons – one it used some of the colors that will be retiring and because the embossing folder matches the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set which is on sale through April 30th.
This card uses the Big Shot Die Cut Machine with the Manhattan Flower Embossing Folder. The roses are embossed onto Shimmery White card stock and then the debossed side is brayered to give the variation in color – I used Regal Rose (a light layer so roll some off onto your scratch paper first) and Summer Sun. Then cut out around the embossed roses before attaching to the card.
The card base is Regal Rose with a layer of Barely Banana. The greeting is from the Oval All stamp set. Since the embossing folder matches the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set I used the flower from the stamp set to decorate the envelope.
Summer Sun and Barely Banana are two of the colors that will be retiring. You could use So Saffron and the new Daffodil Delight in their place. I hope you like it!

Apr 22, 2010 | All in the Family, Baby, Cards, Summer Mini 2010 |
So it is way past Sunday but I just finished up my card for this challenge last night. You can find it HERE on Heather’s blog. She actually had a sketch and a color challenge and I just used the sketch – actually I pretty much made my card exactly like hers but used a different stamp set and changed the colors a bit. I needed a baby card for Ryan’s Spanish teacher. They are having a diaper shower for him at school tomorrow – the kids in each class are bringing a different size of diapers – they should be set for a long time – I hope they have room to store them all!
So this is my happy new baby card – a boy version in blue. The same thing in pink would be cute too. The small circles say “happy”, “new”, “baby” – I stamped it in Bashful Blue so it isn’t showing well in this picture – I should have used a darker color either the Chocolate or the Navy. The cute little border is made with the Curly Label punch and Heather has a video on her blog – just punch out and cut in half and glue them underneath the edge of the card stock.
My Stampin’ Up! Supplies are:
- Card stock: Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Night of Navy, Whisper White
- Ink: Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue and a Blush Blossom marker
- Stamps: All in the Family, Family Phrases, Extreme Elements and Well Scripted (the Congratulations on the inside)
- Punches: Curly Label, 1-3/8″ Circle, 1-1/4″ Circle, 1″ Circle, 3/4″ Circle and Itty Bitty Circle from the new Punch Pack (coming out May 1)
- Accessories: Soft Subtles brads, Bashful Blue Striped Ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Thanks for checking in today. I hope Ryan’s teacher likes the card and the diapers!

Apr 19, 2010 | Cards, Fifth Avenue Floral |
I found this card idea earlier last week – it is so simple but looks so nice! I used it for my class on Friday – as a quick and simple – Stampin’ 101 type of card. The idea is from Kristen Moore. I actually simplified my card a little bit more by just stamping the flowers – she actually embossed hers.
The shadowing on the flowers is created using a Versa Marker! It just makes the paper a shade darker where ever you add the marker – which is clear VersaMark ink. I used Rich Razzleberry ink and then added the ribbon on the top. The card base is Kraft card stock which will be called Crumb Cake in the new Color Collections. Or I could say this is Crumb Cake formerly known as Kraft!
I made mine into a Mother’s Day card so it fits the Late Night Stampers challenge for this week – which is to create something for Mother’s Day. This would also be pretty for weddings or a shower. I hope you like this quick and easy card.
And by the way Stampin’ Up! has this stamp set – Fifth Avenue Floral – and several others on sale this month. So if you have had your eye on it – be sure to get before the month is over. The other sets on sale are – Greenhouse Garden, Flower Fancy and Trendy Trees. All are 20% off.
