Dec 30, 2009 | Decor Elements, Designer Series Paper, Stamper's Club |
This is not the best picture of this project – sorry. The idea comes from the Stampin’ Up! Decor Elements catalog – on page 19 there is a Recipe Holder on the stove top. They have a better picture.
For mine – I used the From the Kitchen of stamp set to make a set of recipe cards and the two magnets. The images are stamped with Black StazOn ink and then colored in with Stampin’ Write Markers. I made a set of 6 cards to go with the holder. And there are 2 magnets – one has the ‘Yum Scale’ and the other has “From the Kitchen of” on it.
The ‘eat’ is the small Black one. The Designer Series Paper is from the Soft Suede Patterns collection. The ribbon is Basic Black Grosgrain.
A friend of mine made these and her husband cut the wood bases and the metal sheets. I had him make some for me and used this project as the December Club project. The club girls made some with other colors and I did take pictures but haven’t gotten them off my camera yet. I’ll do that and post their creations on another day.
This was a great gift for almost anyone. And a great guy gift. I gave one to my brother-in-law and he loved it.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Dec 13, 2009 | Christmas, family, Stamper's Club |
I made these little snowflake tins last week to give to the girls in my Stamp Club when we had our meeting Friday night.
I used small squares tins that have the window in the lid. The base of the tin was wrapped in a strip of the Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalog. The lid is wrapped with Very Vanilla Grosgrain ribbon. I used the Tombo Multipurpose adhesive – the liquid glue in the green bottle to attach both the paper and the ribbon to the tin. I added the little ribbon knot with a mini glue dot.
I used the Snowflake punch and punched three snowflakes – one in Very Vanilla, one in Chocolate Chip and one in Taken with Teal. I punched a hole in the center of each with the paper piercer and also in the center of the window. I used a silver brad through the center of all three snowflakes and then put that through the lid.
On the inside I used my Clear Scallop Square Bigz Die to cut pieces of wax paper to line the inside of the tin and then added my little holiday pretzel treats. When I made the treats I used red and green M&Ms because I originally planned to decorate the tin in red and green. But then switched to the browns and teals so I should have gotten a different color of M&Ms for my treats. Oh, well, this time they just won’t match.
The pretzel treats are really good – the right combination of sweet and salty and very easy to make. I use the square shaped waffle pretzels – lay them all out on a tray in a single layer. Turn the oven on to a low temp 160 or 170. Now put a Hershey’s Kiss on top of each pretzel (unwrapped from the foil). They used to sell unwrapped kisses during the holidays but I wasn’t able to find them anywhere this year. So I had to unwrap all the kisses – that takes the longest.
Set the tray in the oven for about 6 minutes. Take it out and press an M&M into the top of the Kiss. If you can’t press it down then stick the tray back in the oven for another minute or so until the kiss is soft but still has it’s shape. When you take them out then work quickly to press an M&M into the top of each kiss. Then I take the whole tray and set it in the fridge for them to cool and set up again. My kids love them and you can make them for any holiday by changing the color of the M&Ms on top.
For the late night stampers group – we have a challenge to post a project every day for 12 days – the 12 days of Christmas Challenge. We have to send the ideas to the group so this is my Day 3 project. For Day 1 it was the movie ticket holder I posted last week and for Day 2 the scallop square fabric bags that I posted earlier.
Thanks for stopping by. I started playing with some of my new stuff today and will hopefully have some creations to share next week.
Oh – one more thing – this is family related. I just found out last night from Kyle (my oldest son) that he has an interview today (that is where he is now) with MIT. It is part of the application process. He tells me this at 7 pm because I need to find him a blazer, dress pants and dress shoes to wear to the interview. A little more notice please would have been nice…so I remember the very helpful man that found a jacket for Tyler to wear to the Homecoming Dance and since I was short on time I checked to see how late that store was open. Luckily on Saturday night they were open until 9 and we headed down there. We got there just before 8 – luckily Kyle was able to wear a jacket off the rack with no alterations needed, and the seamstress was still there to hem/cuff his pants – they did that while we waited. They had shoes in his size too. I wasn’t planning on that expense right before Christmas but I did want him to look nice and now he’ll be set for awhile for anything else he may need to dress up for. I hope he does well!

Nov 16, 2009 | Baroque Motifs, Big Shot, Christmas, Contest Winner, Embossing, Stamper's Club |
This is the best project! So much fun to make and they will be awesome gifts for almost anyone. I have been wanting to make the tile coasters with the tumbled tiles for awhile now. I made them a couple of years ago using StazOn ink and Stampin’ Pastels but I’ve seen other people making them with craft ink. I had planned on the tiles being one of the projects for my Stamper’s Club this time since we were working on gift giving ideas. In the Simply Holidays class that Heather Summers had she showed us a tumbled tile project that included a box to hold the tiles – it was perfect! I made sure I had Craft Ink and Clear Embossing Powder and I went and bought the tiles and was ready to roll. I decided to use the Dasher stamp set on the tiles and was very happy with how they turned out.

Stampin’ Up! supplies include:
– Dasher stamp set
– Tree Trimmings stamp set
– Baroque Motifs stamp set
– Warm Words stamp set
– Winter Post stamp set (for the tag)
– Craft ink in Chocolate Chip, Old Olive and Real Red
– Clear Embossing Powder
– Chocolate Chip card stock for the box
– Kraft card stock for the tag
– Old Olive or Chocolate Chip 1-1/4″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon
– Big Shot and Stampin’ Up! Two Tags die
– Red hemp cord (retired SU product)
And non-SU are the Tumbled Tiles and the felt tabs for the bottom of the tiles.
I made up about 4 more sets the weekend after we had our club meeting and I do plan to make some more to have for gifts this Holiday season.
UPDATE: I have been getting some questions on these so here is an explanation of how they were made.
I stamped the images with Craft ink and then covered them with Clear Embossing Powder. Since I was making a bunch I put them all on a cookie sheet (lined with parchment paper) and put them in the oven – I think each oven varies so you may need to test the temp and time for yours. I started at 300 degrees and it was taking a very long time so I increased the temp to 350. It took about 8 minutes for each batch of tiles – I have large cookie sheets so I think I had at least 8 or 10 tiles on it. You do want them all to lie flat on the tray – I did one batch where I had one leaning up on the edge and it took much longer to heat the embossing powder. You can see the powder change from powdery to a shiny finish. If you leave them too long they start to bubble so you do need to keep an eye on them. Then I took them out of the oven and I had a large towel doubled on my counter – I used a spatula to take them off the tray and place on the towel to cool – they will be HOT – don’t touch them! After they cool completely add the little felt pads to the bottom so they don’t scratch the table when you use them. I bought my tumbled tiles at Home Depot and they were about $5 for a box of 9.
Happy Stampin’!

Nov 13, 2009 | Designer Series Paper, Holiday Mini Catalog 2009, Pocket Silhouettes, Punch Art, Stamper's Club |
This is one of the cards that we made at this months Stamper’s Club meeting. I’ve seen this idea on several other blogs – the Ornament Punch turned into a vase. I love when people think outside the box and come up with unusual ideas for something that seems to be so obviously suited for just one thing. There are many ideas floating round the blogs out there on different ways to use the ornament punch that is in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalog other than the obvious of using it as an ornament.
For this card the tip of the ornament was trimmed off to create the flat bottom on the vase. The edges are sponged in Basic Gray ink and then Champagne Shimmer Mist Paint is also dabbed on with a sponge. In real life it really looks like a shiny oriental vase – this photograph doesn’t show it very well.
The Designer Series Paper is Nouveau Chic with colors of Basic Black, Basic Gray, Sage Shadow and Apricot Appeal. I felt like I went outside of my color comfort zone on this one – the Sage and Apricot colors have not been used recently in anything that I’ve done. I was pleased with how the card turned out and it really was a quick card since the punch created the vase. I very lightly sponged the Basic Gray ink underneath and to the side of the vase to create shadows and it is actually popped up on a dimensional.
Today is a beautiful day in north Georgia. We are drying out again from lots of rain earlier this week (several creeks flooded again). It should be great for the high school football games tonight – it is the first night of playoffs and we did secure a spot. Go Etowah Eagles!
Thanks for stopping by!

Nov 10, 2009 | Big Shot, Circle Scissor Plus, Designer Series Paper, Season of Friendship, Stamper's Club |
I didn’t forget about posting the rest of the seasonal plates (original post was on 10-17 – click here) it just took me a while to get an update picture of the change that I made during our Stamp Club meeting to the spring design. Here is the whole set:
The Fall and Winter designs were the ones I posted earlier. The Spring plate was the one I changed – in this photo the Rich Razzleberry card stock is just plain. While we were making these at the Stamp Club meeting I thought that I should have used the embossing folder on it just to give it some texture. And when the girls did theirs that way it looked great! But mine was still plain and I didn’t want to show it to you that way. So that is what took so long – I took mine apart and embossed the Rich Razzleberry card stock using the Stampin’ Up! Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder. Then I put it back together and took a photo so I could post it – here is the updated version:
We made the four circle pieces – one for each season and used Velcro to attach to the front of a glass plate. Then stand it up in a plate stand and switch it out as the seasons change. This would make a nice gift for someone.
The main Stampin’ Up! tools we used were the Big Shot with the Stampin’ Up! Top Note die and the Circle Scissor Plus to cut all the circles. The Season of Friendship stamp set was perfect for this project and I was so excited to see it in the new catalog.
The summer plate was the only one that didn’t use any Designer Series paper on it. The background is just stamped with the leaves and then there are flowers under the tree – some of the flowers are cut out and popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and so are some of the leaves on the tree.
On each plate the little bird was stamped and cut out and added somewhere in the design.
I really love how all of these turned out.
I have also seen where some people have done the plates with the design attached to the back so you can set it down and serve off of it. But then your design has to be flat – no buttons – so it is flat against the glass. But I like mine on the top with some dimension and use it a a decorative piece and not a serving piece.
Have a productive day! I got a lot done yesterday and hope to make good progress today too.

Nov 2, 2009 | Flight of the Butterfly, Just Tennis, Recipe, Stamper's Club |
I tried to post this earlier today – and my internet went out and was down most of the day – I was hoping my post got saved but it didn’t so I’m starting over.
I thought I would try a change of pace and post something that wasn’t related to the holidays. Tennis season just ended for us – unless your team is in the playoffs and no one in our family fits that category this time. Ryan’s junior tennis team has had the same husband and wife coach them for many years – they were doing it long before Ryan joined the team. They are the nicest couple and so good with the kids – always encouraging to them and positive. They are great with the parents too – keeping us well informed. I appreciate that and know it is a lot of hard work. So to thank them we bought a gift card and I made them a thank you card – so I wanted to share that with you today. It is a quick simple card that could be made with any of the Just “sport” stamp sets or even other stamp sets with circles or flowers.
Here are the Stampin’ Up! supplies I used:
- Garden Green card stock and ink
- Basic Black card stock and ink
- Whisper White card stock
- Summer Sun ink
- Just Tennis stamp set
- Flight of the Butterfly stamp set (for the sentiment)
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
- 3/4″ circle punch
- slit punch (on the front under the black to hold the gift card on the inside)
- Whisper White Medium envelope
And I just found my notes from Cari’s Congo Cookie recipe that I was supposed to share with my stamp club members.
Here it is:
CONGO COOKIES
- 3-eggs
- 1-1/2 stick butter
- 2-3/4 cups flour
- 1 box lt brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 12oz. bag of chocolate chips
Melt butter and mix with brown sugar. let cool. add beaten eggs. add allother ingredients. Bake in a greased 13 x 9 pan at 350 for 30-35 minutes.
Enjoy!
