Come back later today for the UStamp Blog Hop!

And the Winner Is…..

Sorry this post is so late… I have been working most of the morning on my Monthly Newsletter and also on a newsletter for my PAWS downline group.  I was trying to use some new features that Stampin’ Up! released with an upgrade to our business websites.  With everything new there is a learning curve to figure out the little tricks and things to get it to do what you want when you want it.  Let’s just say I need a little more time – when I was finally done with my PAWS letter I went to save it and nothing happened – apparently I took too long and my session timed out so all was lost!  Save often is maybe a good thing to keep in mind.  Instead of tackling my monthly newsletter with new features I decided to stick with what I was already doing since I am two days behind anyway.

But I’m sure you are much more interested in the title than all of that.  The winner I am referring to is my 50/50 jar winner. I had Kyle pull the winning ticket this morning and here it is:

Oh but wait… you want to see what name is inside – don’t you?  But first let me show you who visited my yard this morning:

A little bitty turtle – of course Aspen found him – but he doesn’t think turtle are very fun – they don’t run like chipmunks do.  So have I stalled enough – you really want to know who won?  How about I tell you what the winner gets?

$50 in Free Stampin’ Up! product from me!  How fun is that?  I love free stuff.  We got several free things during convention including some items from the new Holiday mini catalog that will be starting Sept. 1st.  Make sure to visit my Open House on August 14th if you want to see some sneak peeks from the Holiday Mini – I can’t show you here until later.

Oh – I almost forgot about the winner – but that Holiday mini – is oh so exciting too – you really do want to come see it.

I guess I’m in a weird mood – sorry about that – but OK – now the winner of the 50/50 jar is…..

Make sure you send me an email with your choices!! Congratulations!

Have a fun day!

Dasher Tile Coasters

This is the best project!  So much fun to make and they will be awesome gifts for almost anyone.   I have been wanting to make the tile coasters with the tumbled tiles for awhile now.  I made them a couple of years ago using StazOn ink and Stampin’ Pastels but I’ve seen other people making them with craft ink.  I had planned on the tiles being one of the projects for my Stamper’s Club this time since we were working on gift giving ideas.  In the Simply Holidays class that Heather Summers had she showed us a tumbled tile project that included a box to hold the tiles – it was perfect!  I made sure I had Craft Ink and Clear Embossing Powder and I went and bought the tiles and was ready to roll.  I decided to use the Dasher stamp set on the tiles and was very happy with how they turned out.

Stampin’ Up! supplies include:

– Dasher stamp set

– Tree Trimmings stamp set

– Baroque Motifs stamp set

– Warm Words stamp set

– Winter Post stamp set (for the tag)

– Craft ink in Chocolate Chip, Old Olive and Real Red

– Clear Embossing Powder

– Chocolate Chip card stock for the box

– Kraft card stock for the tag

– Old Olive or Chocolate Chip 1-1/4″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon

– Big Shot and Stampin’ Up! Two Tags die

– Red hemp cord (retired SU product)

And non-SU are the Tumbled Tiles and the felt tabs for the bottom of the tiles.

I made up about 4 more sets the weekend after we had our club meeting and I do plan to make some more to have for gifts this Holiday season.

UPDATE: I have been getting some questions on these so here is an explanation of how they were made.

I stamped the images with Craft ink and then covered them with Clear Embossing Powder.  Since I was making a bunch I put them all on a cookie sheet (lined with parchment paper) and put them in the oven – I think each oven varies so you may need to test the temp and time for yours.  I started at 300 degrees and it was taking a very long time so I increased the temp to 350.  It took about 8 minutes for each batch of tiles – I have large cookie sheets so I think I had at least 8 or 10 tiles on it.  You do want them all to lie flat on the tray – I did one batch where I had one leaning up on the edge and it took much longer to heat the embossing powder.  You can see the powder change from powdery to a shiny finish.  If you leave them too long they start to bubble so you do need to keep an eye on them.  Then I took them out of the oven and I had a large towel doubled on my counter – I used a spatula to take them off the tray and place on the towel to cool – they will be HOT – don’t touch them!  After they cool completely add the little felt pads to the bottom so they don’t scratch the table when you use them.   I bought my tumbled tiles at Home Depot and they were about $5 for a box of 9.

Happy Stampin’!

Build-a-Bear Color Match Game

Today is the day that the December issue of the Stampin’ Success magazine will be online and begin mailing.  I can’t wait to see it – why?  Because I should be in it! If you are a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator you will receive the magazine so look for me!  I can only think of one other time I was in a publication and it was our Annual Report for the company that I last worked for – but my picture showed the back of my head because the photographer liked my hair – so you couldn’t even tell it was me…anyway…..

I sent in my Build-a-Bear idea for thecmg-bears October contest (so I think I sent in actually in September) and it is getting published in the December issue as the winning entry for the Kidding Around contest.  I took my sleeping bag idea and turnecmg-instructionsd it into a Color Match Game for kids.  I made a sleeping bag using each of the colors in the Pawsitively Prints Designer Series Paper – “Green”, “Orange”, “Pink”, “Blue”, and “Yellow”.  Then I made a Build-a-Bear with matching pajamas for each sleeping bag.  I decorated one of the skinny tins that Stampin’ Up! has for sale in the clearance section of the online store.  The sleeping bags and bears fit inside.  I used My Digital Studio to create the instruction sheet that I attached inside the lid.   I don’t know what photos they will have in the magazine but here are the ones I took before I mailed it away.

I’m working on writing the instructions for the project.  So I’ll post that when I have those ready.  It was very exciting to win the contest and then have a phone interview.  I was very nervous and I think I babbled on about who knows what.  I’ll try to post the article here…

Ok I think I figured out how to get it copied out of the magazine so I can include here.

Here is the little article:

And in the same issue is a write-up on my upline Wendy Randall – a full page article!   And we got our first peek at the new Occasions Mini catalog – with NEW products!! And the new Sale-A-Bration catalog – you’ll want them all! And new Decor Elements too!  Oh my goodness I can’t believe they keep coming up with all these new things that I just have to have.

The dates for the Occasions Mini catalog are Jan 5, 2010 – April 30, 2010 and Sale-A-Bration will be Jan 5, 2010 – March 31, 2010.

Thanks for stopping by today – this is so exciting!

So Shelli Challenge Winner

What a way to start the day…..  I was up early getting the boys out the door to school and checked my email.   I had an email that said this:

Congratulations! Shelli has chosen you as one of the winners for her SoShelli.com Happy Birthday Creative Challenge! Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with us!

I had to read it more than once and then see who sent it because I couldn’t believe it.  WOW!  I was excited!  What an honor to have Shelli personally choose one of my projects – I just can’t believe it!  kaleidoscope-card

Thanks for all the support and encouragement I get from everyone!

Several people have asked which stamp set I selected as my free set – I decided to get For All You Do – I saw so many beautiful projects made with the set while I was at convention that I fell in love with it.

Now that I am back from convention I am working on my August Class Kit to Go so it should be ready soon.

I had two orders come yesterday with my ribbon for the ribbon share and DSP for the paper share so I’ll be getting that ready too.

Have a wonderful rest of the day!
