Create a Little Scrapbook Page

One of the problems with going away is that you loose track of the days and then it takes a few days to get back into a routine.  Luckily I checked my calendar Monday night or I would have missed my dentist appointment on Tuesday – I thought I still had another day before I had to go.  I still need to go look at all of last week’s creations – I haven’t caught back up since I was gone from Thursday through Sunday for the Getaway Trip.  And Monday and Tuesday I was gone to various appointments finally a couple of days at home so I can get myself back together – I don’t like being disorganized – but I really am right now.

On to better things – at least I did remember this!  It’s time for this weeks Create with Connie & Mary weekly challenge!  This week is a new sketch CCMC221 – and I think this is a good one.  I started thinking of lots of different things to do with this sketch but I didn’t have time to implement them all for this challenge.  I do plan to go back though and use this one again!

For now I decided to use this one for a 6×6 Halloween Scrapbook Page.  I think a My Digital Studio page would be cute too, or a card, or a framed piece, and more…..

Here is my little layout.  I actually want to add this to a 12×12 layout and include the rest of my photos but I haven’t had a chance to do that yet nor did I decide what the rest of the layout would look like.  I’m headed to a scrapbook crop on Saturday and I may let them do this as a Make ‘n Take project if they visit my table – what do you think?

I had to dig deep for a good Halloween photo – it has been a while since all the boys have dressed up – this may have been the last year that Kyle wore a costume – this is from 2005.  He isn’t actually in this group picture but I did get an individual picture of him – that’s part of the reason I want to include this on a larger layout so I can add the boys individual photos that I do have.

Did you see the news about Stampin’ Up! selling some of the stamps individually out of the stamp sets?  Well the Happy Halloween that I used on this layout is one of them that you can buy all by its little ol’ self.  I’m excited to hear what everyone thinks about the idea.  Stampin’ Up! is trying it out on three of the greeting stamp sets and I guess they will evaluate the results towards the end of the year to decide if they want to continue once January gets here.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • Stamps:  Seasonal Sayings
  • Ink: VersaMark

Have you been enjoying all the holiday creations at the online 2012 Create Class – the final week is here – but it’s not to late to join – there are some really fun projects!

Thank You Stampin’ Up!

Thank You Stampin’ Up! for a wonderfully relaxing Getaway Trip to Hilton Head Island, SC.  Greg and I really enjoyed the trip and the time away on no particular schedule.  I posted a few quick posts with some pictures why were there but I wanted to wrap it up with another post and a look at what we did during our few days away.

This post has some pictures and what we did on Thursday after we arrived.

This post has some pictures from Friday.

This was our pillow gift on the last night – Stampin’ supplies in a plastic case –

Here is what we got inside –

The Postage Due clear stamp set, Fan Fair Designer Series paper, Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette ink pads, Island Indigo Baker’s Twine and Ruffled Ribbon, Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake Seam Binding, and a package of the Designer Vintage Faceted buttons.  Everything this weekend has had the Polka Dot Fabric and cute beach themed tags tied around it.

I put together a couple of two-page spreads in My Digital Studio showing some of the pictures that I took over the weekend.

Here are pictures taken at the Westin Resort where we stayed – views looking out to the beach and ocean, views of the pools and statues through the resort.

And this last layout were pictures from two of the places we went to visit – on Saturday we drove down to Sea Pines Plantation and stopped at South Beach and then went to Harbour Town.  We climbed to the top of the Lighthouse, walked around the Marina and ate lunch at the Crazy Crab.  Then we stopped at the Baynard Plantation Ruins.  On Sunday as we left Hilton Head Island we stopped at the National Wildlife Refuge at Pinckey Island – I took pictures of the wildlife and scenery as we walked around – we probably did about a 2 mile walk.

And look at these birds that we saw in South Beach – Macaws  –  the blues ones are Kiwi and Cherokee, the scarlet one is Captain.

It was a nice weekend and I’m slowing getting back in the groove here at home.  I’m working on prepping for a vendor table at an all day scrapbook crop on Saturday and then a scrapbook and stamping consignment sale next week.

Alright – time to get off the computer…..

The Story of the Tufted Titmouse

I posted this My Digital Studio scrapbook page on MyDigitalStudio.net today.  It is an older page that I made quite some time ago.  I’m posting it again because Stampin’ Up! now has a weekly contest and this weeks challenge was to create a project that used 10 or more photos – and guess what this one fits the challenge!  So I’m asking you to do me a favor – go visit the site and LIKE my page – http://mydigitalstudio.net/photo/tufted-titmouse – and if you want leave me a comment too.

This is the story of the Tufted Titmouse that raised their family in my backyard.  I thought it would be neat to do this page as a calendar and insert the pictures that I took on the days that I took them so it would show the progress from choosing a bird house, building a nest, laying the eggs, feeding and raising the babies and then when the finally fledged.  I wish I had been there on that last day to take a picture but its hard to be there right on the exact day.

So vote for me and if I win I get a free My Digital Studio digital download next week.  Every Tuesday Stampin’ Up! has new downloads available.  And the My Digital Studio 2 is awesome – I love all the new features.  If you live locally to me – Cindy and I are having My Digital Studio Digi Crop nights on Tuesdays starting next week on Sept. 25th.  Visit my Facebook business page for the event details – you can rsvp there and while you are at LIKE my page – I just hit 100 likes today!

Thanks!!

Rainbow of Thoughts Scrapbook Layout

I have another scrapbook layout for you today.  This was the other layout from the July class.

I was in a rainbow phase back at the end of July – I made several cards with this rainbow of colors and this scrapbook layout – and really some of my swaps for convention too.  I have been using the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper for my rainbow projects.  It’s the perfect pack of paper!  Remember from school – ROY G BIV – that’s the rainbow – and it keeps running through my head.  So my Stampin’ Up! rainbow converts to this –

R= Real Red

O= Pumpkin Pie

Y= Daffodil Delight

G= Old Olive

B= Marina Mist

IV= Rich Razzleberry

The layout used pieces of every color of the designer paper and then I punched flowers in the same colors and layered on top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  For the large flowers first punch the center hole – then punch the flower around it with the Blossom punch.  For the smaller flowers I cut them with the Floral Fusion Sizzlet and my Big Shot and then punched the center holes afterwards.  I used the punched holes along with some extras to decorate the top colors of the layout.

Underneath I used the Loving Thoughts stamp set and stamped various words underneath.  Now to find some pictures to put on this layout.  Yes in case you wonder I scrap in an odd way – I make pages that I like and then try to find pictures to put on them. Sometimes I do have pictures in mind before I start a layout but not necessarily.  And I scrap very randomly too – not in any particular order – just whatever I want.  I’m doing it “MY WAY”!

Have fun with this idea!  Maybe I’ll translate this into a set of cards – how fun would that be!

The Best Day Scrapbook Layout

I haven’t shared any of my scrapbook layouts from the past couple of months so I thought I better catch up on that.  We made this layout in my July class.  It uses the Patio Party Designer Series paper and the color palette from that.

I used Bakers Twine to create little banners with punched circles and a pennant.  The In-Colors Dahlia’s add a fun little element to the banners.  The title letters are cut out of Chipboard and “painted” with the ink pads.  I used the Midnight Muse and Summer Starfruit colors – just lay the chipboard letter face down in the ink pad and press it into the pad – cover it with a scrap piece of card stock or wear some gloves to keep your fingers from getting inky.  Let the letters dry.

Have a fun weekend!  I’m hoping to post more layouts this weekend and also record a couple of videos.  Plus work on swaps and finish the ribbon and paper shares – all the ribbon is cut just need to package it up.  But tonight we will be going to the football game to watch Ryan and the band (and I guess we will watch the football game too).  I think it will be a nice night for high school football!
