What do you do when you have to run out of town and still have a project that you need to create? Since you can’t grab the craft room and stamp in the car – you grab your laptop and create with My Digital Studio in the car! With my Create with Connie & Mary sketch and My Digital Studio 2 I was able to create this scrapbook page in the car.

Here is the CCMC215 sketch so you can see what I started with –

I just added the shapes from the sketch using photo boxes and a punch. I wanted to keep the rounded corners. And with My Digital Studio 2 it is super easy to added them to your photo boxes – there is a new feature to round corners and you pick which corner you want rounded.
Another new feature is being able to re-color embellishments – so the antique brad in the center of my flower was recolored to be Wisteria Wonder. It’s very subtle but its there. This picture is in front of the Stampin’ Up! corporate office in Riverton, Utah. We were able to take a bus out there on Wed of convention week. It was such a fun trip. I know I still owe a video from last weeks challenge card – I’m hoping to get to that next week – being gone for two days has thrown me way behind.
All the supplies are listed below – using another new MDS2 feature – the supply list. Have you tried creating with My Digital Studio? Did you know there is a free 30 day trial? I’d love to see what you can do with it. Visit Create with Connie & Mary and submit your creation for this weeks challenge – each week 3 top creations are selected. Each challenge is open for a week. And then a new challenge will be issued.

I created this page using My Digital Studio2 for our beloved Uncle Lamar – Greg’s uncle. Just a quick post today.
Supply list (a new option in MDS2) – I started with a template Thoughtful Overlays 11×8-1/2. And then changed it. I used the color match feature to match the blue in his shirt. This picture of Uncle Lamar is from 2010 at the family reunion at his farm.

My third scrapbook page for the Stampin’ Up! Design Team contest entry is my Snail page.
I created some punch art snails last year for a card project and I really wanted to put them on a scrapbook page. And this was what I ended up with. The pictures are Aspen and Magnolia checking out a snail that I found in the backyard.

I’m also participating in a Punch Art Swap at convention and mine is this snail. I made 50 swaps – that is a lot of pieces.
I love this Well Worn Designer Series paper that was in the last catalog and the Extreme Elements sets. They both suited this scrapbook page.
Convention check-in starts tomorrow. Today I am at the Starz team retreat and we have been stamping projects for 2 days!

Jul 8, 2012 | Big Shot, My Digital Studio, Scrapbook Pages |

Look at this fun summer scrapbook layout! It’s bright and has lots of fun elements. We made this at my June Scrapbook class. The colors are Tempting Turquoise, Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo and Whisper White. The Designer Paper that I used is the Summer Smooches Designer Series paper. The sun is made by cutting a circle on the Big Shot and then punching with the Pennant punch and attaching them all the way around the circle. To create the waves I used a few different things – the bottom layer of paper was cut with the small scallop Adorning Accents Edgelit, the middle white layer was punched with the 1″ circle punch and then sponged with Island Indigo ink, the top layer is cut with the Large Scallop Edgelit die. I also looked for a stamp to use for the splash of the waves and finally ended up using the Everything Eleanor stamp set. Who would have thought of using that set for a summer beach page!
Then I used an idea from a scrapbook magazine to add the quilling to make the waves more dimensional. I cut thin strips with my Tabletop Paper Cutter. And then curled them around a skewer to create the curled waves. I used my multipurpose liquid glue to attach them to the layout. To finish the page I wanted to add the fish jumping in the waves. I searched my stamps for fish – nothing in my current collection has a fish in it. So now what. My Digital Studio to the rescue! I searched the Stampin’ Up! Digital Downloads and found one called Summer Splash. I quickly purchased it online, downloaded it and installed it and open My Digital Studio. I added the fish stamp and changed the colors to match my page – I printed out 6 fish on Whisper White card stock on my home printer – cut them out and added them to my page with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Ta-da! They are just perfect.

Now to add some fun summer pictures. But I’m going to have to find a new place to get them printed – the Wolf Camera near my house is going out of business – darn. I guess it’s time to try out some new places to see who I like.
I’m headed back to the craft room to work on convention swaps. I’ll be leaving in one week – this time next week I should be sitting on the plane getting ready to take off!

Jul 4, 2012 | Scrapbook Pages |
Have a Happy 4th of July! I have a scrapbook layout to share today. We made this layout in my scrapbook class last week. I’m actually going to put pictures from Memorial Day on it. We went to Stone Mountain and watched the Laser Show and Fireworks there and I have pictures from that. But this layout works for lots of summer events from Memorial Day to Labor Day. So take you pick on what you want to use the ideas for.

I started with a layout idea from a scrapbook magazine. I started with a Crumb Cake background and then used Real Red, Marina Mist and Whisper White to decorate the page. There are pieces of Designers Series paper cut into little flags and then laid out to form a banner. I cut them different lengths and then added some different little elements to the tops. I used paper clips tied with bits of ribbon, some buttons tied with Whisper White Baker’s Twine and brads with little punched circles – the mini silver brads and some of the Marina Mist brads.
The bottom was wheeled with the So Many Stars Builder Wheel in Read Red. On the right side page I added some fireworks – I searched the internet and found a template that I liked and used the new Paper Piercing Tool and Piercing mat to add the design to my page. I put added rhinestones to make it sparkle. Here is a close-up.

The title is cut with the Big Shot and I wheeled the letters with the So Many Stars Builder wheel too. I think it turned out to be a fun layout and I’m excited to get my pictures on it. Right now they are on my phone – I hope they are good enough to print.
Enjoy the 4th. I’m going to go see my parents and spend the day with them.
