Good Bye 2013-2015 In Colors

Last month I made these Curvy Keepsake boxes using the 2013-2015 In Colors.  These lovely colors are leaving our collection right now and will be replaced with 5 new ones.

curvy-keepsake-boxes---in-cI went to a scrapbook weekend with some of my crafty friends back in April and I wanted to make a little treat for everyone.  It was right after Easter and I found the little Lindt Chocolate Bunnies fit nicely inside.  I probably should have added just a little “grass” inside to hold them still since they all shifted a bit when I picked the boxes up.

Like every year the retiring In-Color products – especially ink refills and then card stock tend to be gone in a flash.  And this year was no different.  It looks like the Thick Baker’s Twine is still available, Baked Brown Sugar Card Stock, Ink pads for Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Strawberry Slush, the Markers and the Sequins are basically what is left in these colors.  I hope you got what you wanted.

Here is a closer look at my little box and tag –

curvy-keepsake-box2On the outside of each Curvy Keepsake box I stamped flowers from the Painted Petals stamp set.  I also punched a circle in one side so the bunny could peek out.

curvy-keepsake-boxThe tags were punched with the Note Tag punch and stamped with the saying from Painted Petals.  I used the little flower from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch pack to punch flowers.  These I pierced holes in the center and then pulled through a piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine that was tied in a little loop knot to create the center of each flower.   Each tag was tied to the box with White Baker’s Twine.  I mixed and matched all the In-Colors for one last project.

Good Bye – Baked Brown Sugar, Crisp Cantaloupe, Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana and Pistachio Pudding.  We will miss you all!

So Proud of You Cupcake

Every month since Ryan went away to college I’ve been sending him a care package in the mail.  At the same time I’ve been sending one out to Kyle in California and then giving one to Tyler who is still here at home.  This month school is ending and finals are now happening.  This month’s care package included some goodies to get through studying and finals.  It’s not really feasible to send a cupcake through the mail but I figured out a way to do it!  I baked a cupcake in a jar!  I used a half-pint canning jar and baked my cupcake right inside!

cupcake-jarThe cake and frosting are inside and I closed it up with the lid and wrapped it up good to send it in a box through the mail.  It made it up there with no problems!

Several of these products are retiring and unfortunately the Blendabilities are no longer available.  The Moonlight Designer Paper Stack (on sale), the Sweet Stuff Stamp set (wood set is on sale), and the In-color sequins (on sale) are all on the retiring list – so get them now before they are gone.

Here is a list of the supplies that I used:

Washi Tape meets Paper Pumpkin

I made this fun card using stamps from the February 2015 Paper Pumpkin kit and Washi Tape and the Beach House Washi Tape.

Paper-pumpkin-extra-washiI used a Crumb Cake Note Card and cut a piece of Whisper White card stock to layer on the front.  I took the colors from the Beach House Washi tape and stamped the bottom three rows – the top three rows are the washi tape.  Everything is angled.  I used the Crushed Curry Baker’s twine to go around the white layer and tied it in a bow and then put it on the front of the note card with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.  A super quick and easy card!

The Beach House Washi tape is on the retired list and it’s 40% off making it only $2.97.  If you are a Paper Pumpkin Subscriber you would have these stamps from your February 2015 kit.

You can see more ideas using Paper Pumpkin kits on my Pinterest Board – click here.

Happy Father’s Day

Father’s Day is quickly approaching and I’m not sure I shared this card previously so I better do it now.  This was one of the cards from my Good-Bye class as it uses mostly retired stamp sets.

fathers-day-card

It has some good masculine colors – Soft Suede and I used the Naturals white and some Crumb Cake ink too.  Stamp sets I used are:

  • Gorgeous Grunge (in the new catalog too)
  • Delightful Dozen ( for the happy Father’s day – but there was also one in the May Paper Pumpkin kit)
  • Off the Grid (so sad they retired this – I think it is a great background)
  • Clockworks

For the center of the clock I added a Vintage Trinkets brad.

I think you could probably use the Open Sea stamp set and create a similar feeling card for Father’s day.  And it is still in the new catalog.

Enjoy the day!

Washi Tape Vivid Vases

Today and tomorrow you can order from the old 2013-2014 Stampin’ Up! catalog and the NEW 2014-2015 Stampin’ Up! catalog at the same time.  There is an overlap of a couple of days.  Many of the retiring items are already sold out but those that aren’t can be ordered through tomorrow and Stampin’ Up! has even discounted some of the retiring items.  You can see the most current availability list by looking in my online store – SHOP HERE.

This card combines the Gingham Garden Washi tape (it’s retiring and on sale) with the Vivid Vases stamp set (from the Occasions catalog and now in the new catalog!).

vivd-vases-2

I wanted to make the vases look like a decoupage glass and decided the Washi tape would give me that look.  This card does take a little time to make.  I put the Washi Tape on a piece of Whisper White card stock and then stamped the vases on top of it with Black StazOn ink.  Then I cut out each of the vases with my paper snips – so yes it is some fussy cutting but the vases are fairly easy to cut out.

vivid-vases-4

This is how I completed the card:

  • Card base is Daffodil Delight
  • Front layer of Whisper White – stamp the Vivid Vases in Black StazOn ink.
  • Color in the flowers/leaves with Stampin’ Write markers – Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Melon Mambo, Island Indigo
  • add the cut out washi tape vases on top of the stamped vases
  • die cut a frame with the On Film Framelits and the Big Shot from Basic Black card stock
  • tie a Whisper White Baker’s Twine Bow (or the Island Indigo Baker’s Twine works too) on the edge of the frame
  • Attach the frame around the stamped image using Stampin’ Dimensionals – I cut little bits of dimensionals to attach the frame.

If you wanted different words you could cover the words with the bottom of the frame and add other words underneath.

I really love how it turned out.  I’m going to try another one with different colors of washi tape.

Petite Petals Note Card

Just a quick post to show you a quick little card.  The note cards & envelopes are great when you need something fast.  Add a stamp and a greeting, bring in some punched elements and you are good to go.

just-because-note-card

The flowers are the Petite Petals stamp set and punch with an added little center using the Itty Bitty Shapes flower punch (its retiring and one of my favorites!).  Here is a close up for you.
