Happy Birthday Cupcake!

I wanted to share with you another little treat that I gave to all by stampers at the Stamp, Scrap & Create Retreat earlier this month.  It was a birthday theme so everything was birthday related.  And cupcakes are the perfect little birthday treat and all dressed up Stampin’ Up! style makes them even better!

cupcake-birthdayI baked the cupcakes in a jar!  I posted a cupcake in a jar a couple of weeks ago – those were when I was practicing to see if I could bake them in the jar and have them turn out.  I add frosting, sprinkles and little edible flower decorations on the inside.  I forgot to take a picture with the jar open.  Here is a closer look at the front.

cupcake-frontI made a banner using the Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series paper (in the Occasions catalog) and the Petite Pennants Builder Punch (on the Retirement list and on sale).  I strung the banners on some Bermuda Bay Baker’s Twine.  I tied that around the jar with a knot and then added some of the Calypso Coral Pom Pom trim (already sold out – so sad) plus a candle and tucked a little wooden spoon behind.  Then tied a bow with the twine.

cupcake-topA closer look at the top you can see more Birthday Bash Designer Paper and then I stamped the Sketched Birthday stamp set (on the retired list).  I used Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay and my punches.

Everyone enjoyed their little birthday treats at the retreat.  It was a really fun weekend and I can’t wait to do it again.

Blooming with Kindness

Blooming with Kindness is a wonderful stamp set in the catalog and sadly it is retiring.  The wood mount set is even 25% off right now.  I decided to pull this one out for my Card Maker’s class last week.

blooming-w-kindness3I had pieces and parts left from another card and decided to use those to create a card with this stamp set.  It’s a challenge at times to use things already cut for something else.  But if I have leftovers that I’ve cut and don’t need I hate to waste them especially when there is already a decent quantity of all the parts ready.  I find myself doing this every other month or so – grabbing a stack of left overs from an earlier card and using a different stamp set resulting in something totally new.

blooming-w-kindnessPerhaps I should try to find the post for the card that these parts were originally for.  I’ll add that back in at the end if I can.

The colors here are Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla.  A soft card.  I love the softness that Very Vanilla brings to a card.  Whisper White is always bright and the Very Vanilla just softens things for me.  Here is a closer look at the butterfly on the card.

blooming-w-kindness2I punched from a piece that was stamped with the Dahlia flower from the set – I think it gives the look of butterfly wings.  I then went around the edge of the punch out with the edge of my Stampin’ Write marker so that it would be more defined.  I finished by tying some Linen Thread around it.  Linen Thread is my favorite!!  I always worry that it will be on the retired list but it’s in the catalog for another year.

Here is the supply list for you –

So I couldn’t find the post with the other card and I looked back through my photos and it must have been in those that I lost when our external drive crashed earlier this year (which might be why it didn’t get posted).  I’m not home to look for the actual card and take another photo of it but I’ll try to remember to do that when I get back.

Thanks for visiting me today.  I hope you will be back and feel free to leave comments.

Only one more week

That’s right there is only one more week left to order from the 2014-2015 Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalog and the 2015 Occasions Catalog.  One more week to get the deals on the retired list. So it’s almost time to say our goodbyes including a big good bye to My Digital Studio – at least to new downloads, software support and the print service through Stampin’ Up!.  You can still use your program, add digital content from other sources and print through other services.

CM3073BJune 2nd is the last day for ordering physical product from the catalogs.  Additionally here is some information about My Digital Studio:

New Dates
We have extended the availability date for MyDigitalStudio.net, the digital download manager, and our MDS YouTube, Facebook, and Pinterest pages through midnight, June 9, 2015. Demonstrators and customers may call Demonstrator Support for assistance with MDS until Demonstrator Support closes at 7:00 PM (MT) on Tuesday, June 9.

A few things to note regarding the change in catalogs – on June 2, 2015 you will be able to order from the old catalogs and the new catalogs – for just one day!  If an item is a different price in the new catalog on June 2nd the old pricing will apply and on June 3rd the new pricing will apply.  The new catalog will go to an Even-Dollar pricing structure – so things that were *.95 will be a nickel more in the new catalog in most cases.  There are a few items with a little more change –

  • Embossing Folders are going down in price in the new catalog from 7.95 to 7.50
  • The Standard Crease Pad and Cutting Pads for the Big Shot are going from 8.95 to 11
  • The Big Shot is going from 99.95 to 110
  • The XL punches are going from 16.95 to 18
  • The Project Life grid cards are going down from 3.95 to 3.50
  • Ink Pads are going from 5.95 to 6.50
  • Ink Refills are going from 2.95 to 3.25
  • Mini Glue dots going from 4.95 to 5.25
  • Craft White ink pad and refill are going up a little 7.50 to 8 and 4.25 to 4.50
  • Background stamps are going from 17.95 Wood & 13.95 Clear to 20 Wood & 15 for Clear

Those are most of the changes that I found when comparing the catalogs today.

Now on to something crafty…..

tape-it-stripHere is a card that features one of the retiring stamp sets – Tape It.  The stamps all look like different pieces of washi tape.  The great thing is you can stamp them in any color ink that you want.  So now you have “washi tape” in all our our Stampin’ Up! colors!

tape-it-cardI used the And Many More stamp set to add a greeting to this card which could be used for just about anything.  Stamp what you need on a strip of white card stock and staple it to the front of the card.

There is also a Paper Pumpkin Special right now through JUNE 10th –

blog_header_su_5-2015Offer Details: Use the code SAVE50 to join Paper Pumpkin before June 10, 2015, and get 50% off the first two months! After that, keep the creativity coming for only $19.95 + tax per month (shipping included). It’s for new subscribers on a month-to-month subscription.  Click here for more info and to join.

Come back tomorrow for an alternate idea using the stamp set from the May Paper Pumpkin kit.

Thanks for visiting.

Best Dad Ever

Do you need the perfect card for Father’s Day?  Did you see these “parts” that I shared on my Instagram account?

dad-partsEveryone loved the colors – Soft Sky, Soft Suede and Very Vanilla – together they made a perfect father’s day card.

open-sea-dadI used the Open Sea stamp set along with Gorgeous Grunge (it makes everything better) and the And Many More stamp set for the greeting.  You can easily switch out the “BEST DAD EVER” for something else.  I used two retiring items on this card the Distressing tool to distress the Soft Suede layer under the sailboat and then the Baked Brown Sugar Thick Baker’s Twine.  All the rest is carrying over to the new catalog including all the stamp sets I used – yeah!

This card will be one of the choices in my Card Maker’s Class this week – Friday May 22nd.  Join me for a morning or evening class – RSVP here.

You can never have too much happy

It’s true right –  you can never have too much happy!

rainbow-happy-card2

I’d love to be able to make everyone happy all the time.  This past weekend was my Stamp, Scrap & Create retreat at my house and it seemed to me everyone was very happy for the whole weekend.  We had so much fun creating and getting to know each other better.  I loved having everyone here.  There were 13 of us this time – a full house!  We had a birthday theme for the retreat and everything was bright and colorful – a rainbow of goodie bags and balloons, bright Make&Take projects, good food, and birthday presents for everyone.  I can’t wait to do it again.

With happy and rainbow and bright colors on my mind I thought I would share this fun happy card that my stamper’s club made earlier this month.  It’s not as hard as it looks and I even wrote a step-by-step tutorial for how I made it.  Look for it at the end of my post.

rainbow-happy-card

(I actually wrote a post for this card over the weekend but couldn’t find it in my drafts folder in order to finish and post it so I had to start over.)

To make this card you need the Bright Collection of ink pads and a bunch of the sponge daubers to make the rainbow – Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry, and Melon Mambo.  The scallops are from the Striped Scallops Thinlits die – I cut it out in black.  I did use the Transfer Adhesive Sheets – they are on the retired list!  So get them now they make this project so quick and easy and my tutorial shows you how I used them.

Other retiring products on this card are the Label Collection Framelits, the Festive Paper piercing pack, the Yippee Skippy stamp set and the Painted Petals cotton twine is in the Occasions catalog which is ending June 2nd also.

Enjoy!  Thanks for stopping by today.

Trio of Tag-a-bag Gift Boxes

My Stamper’s Club met at the beginning of the month before Mother’s Day and I wanted to have them make a project that could be used for Mother’s day if they wanted but didn’t have to be.  This is what I ended up with.

tag-a-bag-boxesI used three of the Tag a Bag Gift Boxes – assemble the boxes and then use Sticky Strip (on the retired list and on the weekly deals this week) to attach the plastic sleeves together.  Then you have a stack of three.  You can still slide the boxes out of the plastic sleeves.  The boxes in this photo are empty except I laid a doily inside a couple of them.  There are all kinds of things that fit in these and they are food safe so bake cookies, muffins, make candies, any number of yummy things.  Or fill with pretty things – lotions and bath salts, and stuff like that.  Or maybe gardening supplies – little seed pods or seed packets, garden gloves – hmm I like that idea the best.

The colors I used are Tempting Turquoise and Hello Honey and a peek of Old Olive.  The belly band is made from a strip of Hello Honey from the In-color Designer Series Paper Stack.  Now this color isn’t retiring but the paper stack is – so get it now.  I used 3″ strips and you need two 12″ long strips (well really 11″ long) to go around the box and wrap nicely.  I glue the overlapping ends together but didn’t actually glue it to the boxes – that way if you needed too you could slide it off.

I tied a piece of the 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon around and tied in a bow.  So sad that this is retiring I love using this ribbon.  I cut one of the doilies in half and tucked one half under each side of the belly band – use a little adhesive to hold then to the back of the belly band.

For the flowers I used Bloom For You stamp – this one is a single stamp.  And it coordinates with the Fun Flower punch and the 7/8″ Scallop Circle punch.  I stamped 4 Tempting Turquoise flowers and punched those out and then 2 Hello Honey and punched out the centers. Use a bone folder to gently curl the petals.  I pierced a hole through the centers of all and then put them on silver mini brads – a Hello Honey center and 2 Turquoise flowers.  Add those to the front of the box.

I punched some leaves using the two-step bird punch and Old Olive card stock – tuck those in under the flowers.  And the final little touch is just a smattering of pearls around the flowers.

I hope you like this project.  Thanks for visiting today.
