So Sorry for your loss

It seems these last few weeks I have had many family and friends that have experienced a loss of someone in their lives.  I have been trying to create some sympathy cards to send out and for some reason its just not easy to do.  I created this card for my hands-on class using some of the retiring products from Stampin’ Up!

field-flowers-sorry

This card uses the very pretty Field Flowers stamp set and I paired it with the So Sorry stamp set – both are on the retired list.  Since the card base is so dark – Chocolate Chip – I added a Whisper White layer on the inside of the card for writing a short note.  The Gumball Green and Primrose Petals are two of the retiring In-Colors.  And the Dahlia’s are retiring too – they make a cute little flower accent.

Here are all the products I used.  The So Sorry stamp set is already sold out.  And the Banner Punch will be available in the new catalog June 2nd.

Oh Hello! I’m still here….

Oh Hello!  Really I’m still here….I just had a super busy week and weekend!  It was the weekend of the Stamp, Scrap & Create Retreat at my house.  Last week I was finishing up the preparations, shopping and cleaning up before everyone arrived.  It was a fun long weekend of time with friends stamping and scrapping and hanging out.  The retreat started Thursday evening and we finished up in the early afternoon on Sunday.  Let me tell you that I was tired and went to bed early last night and slept for 11 hours!!  You can see pictures from the retreat on my Facebook Business page – and I’ll be posting more here on my blog – the Make&Take projects and the “pillow gifts” for everyone that attended.

For today I have a card to share from my last hands-on class featuring retiring stamps and products.

oh-hello-card-2Here are some details:

  • So Saffron Card Base – stamp with the So Saffron ink

  • Cut oval image and flower with the Oval Framelits, Cut the Oh Hello with the Banner Framelits
  • Two tea lace doilies glue together in the center with some snail adhesive and then attached to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Bright Blossoms note card and Bluebirds

Look at this cute little note card that we made in my Saying Good-bye Hands On class.

bright-blossoms-notecard

As I was creating for my Saying Good-bye class I had a sheet of stamped flowers on my craft table left over from the mini scrapbook project we made during Stamper’s Club.  And I thought – oh I should just turn that into a quick little note card.  So that is what I did.  Here are the details:

  • Note Cards & Envelopes (these were listed on the retired list but there are also some in the new catalog)
  • Gingham Garden Washi Tape (retired list)
  • Bright Blossoms stamp set (retired list)
  • Sweet Essentials stamp set (retired list)
  • Island Indigo Baker’s Twine (retired list)
  • Large Oval punch
  • Scallop Oval punch
  • Basic Rhinestones
  • Island Indigo & Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Marker
  • Daffodil Delight ink pad

And an update on the Bluebirds for you.  The babies hatched on Mother’s Day!  Now wasn’t that appropriate!  She is going to be a busy mom with 6 babies – glad she has help from dad and her other babies.  I did go buy some meal worms yesterday afternoon so it would be a little easier for them to find some food for all those babies.

in the morning on Mother's day - 4 have hatched - 2 eggs

later on mother's day - I thought all 6 had hatched but there is a faint hint of blue so there may still be one egg under the pile here

Bright Blossoms Mini Scrapbook

We made this adorable mini scrapbook in my May Stampers Club.  I love how it turned out.  We used the Bright Blossoms stamp set that is on the retired list – it’s a cute little set that you can make various combinations of flowers with.

envie-scrapbook I like the fact that this one will stand up by itself.  It’s perfect for adding photos and journaling and then setting out on a table or desk as a display item.  It would make a sweet gift.   envie-scrapbook-open

Here is some more on how I made it:

  • I used 4 of the Crumb Cake note card envelopes (on the retired list), I tucked the flaps into the inside but you could choose to leave them out or even cut them off.  Tucking them in gives some added stability.  Inside each envelope I would slide a photo or journal a story or note that you might want to stay hidden instead of having it on the page.
  • Place two envelopes end to end and connect them with Washi Tape – I used the Gingham Garden Washi tape which is also on the Retired List.  Then add another envelope on either side – connecting with Washi tape.  So you end up with a “book” of envelopes.
  • I added another piece of Washi tape around the outside spine and then the extra flower piece as a decoration on the front.  envie-scrapbook-back
  • Then decorate the front and the pages of the mini scrapbook.  For the front I added a frame from the On Film framelits cut from Island Indigo card stock – with a piece of Island Indigo Baker’s Twine (on the retired list).  Attach it with bits of dimensionals at the top and bottom and then you can slide in a photo from the side later.  Stamp a vase of flowers and punch with the Decorative Label punch.  Punch a second one from Melon Mambo card stock – cut it in half and layer it behind the stamped one.  Add to the front with dimensionals.  Finish with a little designer button.
  • For pages 1 & 2 –   I used Daffodil Delight and the On Film Framelits – cut a frame and a camera.  Add a Rhinestone to the camera.  Stamp a flower – cut with the oval punch and then layer with the scallop oval punch.envie-scrapbook-pg1-2
  • For pages 3 & 4 –  This page has a Pear Pizzazz frame, Island Indigo Baker’s Twine and another stamped flower punched with the Oval punch and a scalloped oval punch frame.  envie-scrapbook-pg3-4
  • For pages 5 & 6 – For the last two pages there are frames in Island Indigo and Daffodil Delight.  A Melon Mambo Camera.  Another flower punched with the 1-1/4 ” circle punch and a 1-3/8″ Melon Mambo punch.  Finish with some twine and Rhinestones.envie-scrapbook-pg5-6

On each page I added the frames with Dimensionals only along the top and bottom so I could go back and slide some photos underneath.  On the blank pages I’ll plan to add journaling.  Inside the pockets – larger photos.  You could also use the pockets to hold a ticket stub or something else that goes along with the photos.

envie-scrapbook2A really pretty project.  I hope you like it!

Mother’s Day – Take Two

I made a second version of this card that is perfect for Mother’s Day.

mothers-day-card-front

For this one I wanted to use the Watercolor Wonder Designer Paper.  I switched my neutral to Whisper White to coordinate with the paper and changed the card base to Smoky Slate.

For the Baker’s Twine – I actually decided there were several options –

  • use Whisper White – as is
  • use Whisper White – dye it Gumball Green – use a Stampin’ Sponge to hold the twine in the ink pad as you pull it across, repeat until the twine is the color you want it.  Let dry.
  • use the Island Indigo Baker’s Twine.

mothers-day-card

Don’t need a Mother’s Day card – then switch out the greeting to be a birthday card or thank you or whatever you might need.  Remember these items are on the retiring list or going away at the end of the Occasions catalog at the end of May –

  • Watercolor Wonder Designer Paper
  • Island Indigo Baker’s Twine
  • Itty Bitty Punch pack – that’s the center of the flowers
  • Gumball Green in-color
