I can’t wait for mine to get here so I can play and show them to you in person.

And now to continue my San Francisco story from the other day.

Monday afternoon Kyle dropped us off at the San Jose airport – we got there several hours early so that he could get back to work for a meeting.  Even though our travel plans were messed up we were trying not to mess up his schedule too much.  The delay in leaving did allow us another visit and lunch at Facebook before we went to the airport.  Once there we settled in to wait on our flight.  This airport is small and quiet compared to what I am used to in Atlanta.  The boys played cards while we waited.

2013 Jul 08 039

In the evening we boarded a small plane to fly to LAX.  Everyone was still a bit uneasy about flying and when we heard a rattle in the overhead bin and the flight attendant couldn’t get it to stop all the people around me were just kind of looking at each other – still not sure what it was but the flight wasn’t too long and we finally landed at LAX and pulled up to the gate.  I watched out the window as the bridge was moved out to the plane – almost – then backed up – then to the plane – almost – then backed up – finally the pilot comes on and says the bridge isn’t working and they need to wait on maintenance to come out before we can get off the plane.  Finally the pilot comes on again and says its not the bridge but rather the plane is in the wrong place and needed to be moved – everything put away, everyone buckled in seats before we can move.  Finally that gets done, the bridge comes out and we get off the plane.

I wanted to stop at the help desk to check again on the direct flights – of course the same answer – they are full and overbooked just stick with the flight to Cincinnati.  So we walk from one terminal to another and find our gate.  Find some food and sit down to wait on the next flight which leaves just before 11 pm.  It is the red-eye – yuck.

After a while Tyler gets up to say he has to ask the Delta agent something.  I thought that was odd – I couldn’t think of what he would have to ask her that he wouldn’t ask mom or dad.  So we waited and he came back and sat back down.  Greg and I are looking at him wondering what he asked.  Well apparently all this time his head has been hurting – like its exploding – and he had already taken some ibuprofen after we landed and that didn’t help.  He asked her to call the EMTs because it hurt so bad.  OK then.  We sit and wait.  A short time later here come what look to be 3 fully decked out firemen – I guess they are the EMTs from the fire station that drive the ambulance – they have all their equipment and sit down with us.  Tyler gets hooked up and they talk to him and ask him questions about what is going on.

The options are to go to the ER – which will take all night since he would be low priority – not bleeding, breathing is normal, heart is good.  Or we can go to the emergency clinic nearby and probably see a doctor in a couple hours.  Problem – they can’t transport us there – it’s not part of their jurisdiction.  But one of them remembers that the clinic has an EMT on staff that runs a shuttle service and he can come get us – so they call him.  The EMT says one of us should go with Tyler and the other continue home with Ryan on our scheduled flight.  So we decide that I will go with Tyler and Greg and Ryan will continue home.  Now we all go talk to the Delta agent and wait for the other guy to arrive.  She interrupts travel for Tyler and I and then says she will put us on another flight – so i ask her to put us on a morning flight to Atlanta – the first one leaves at 5:45 am.  At first she starts to say she can’t do that since our flight isn’t direct – to which I pointed out that yes we in fact did have direct flight to begin with and should have been home already not here at this airport at all – so I expected her to get us on a direct flight – she said she needed supervisor approval and I said well you get that while we go to the emergency room.  As we left she assured me that she would take care of getting us on a morning flight direct to Atlanta.  Greg and Ryan and our luggage would continue on to Cinn. and then ATL.

Now the other EMT showed up so I luckily remember to give things to Greg – like the car keys!  the little tickets for the luggage and I even managed to remember the coupon for parking.  Gave them their boarding passes.  And then he gave me all his cash.  The first 3 EMTs left and we went with the 4th guy that showed up.  We walked out of the terminal and back towards the security area.  As we approached the security people made everyone stop – I mean they made everyone FREEZE – no moving, not even one step in the entire area.  Guess what – it was a security breach!

After a few minutes the security agent asked the EMT if he had a patient – he said yes a patient and his mom – he showed his ID and we were allowed to leave the airport and go to his shuttle.  And he drove us to the Emergency Clinic.   Once he dropped us off though the shuttle service was done for the night so we would have to take a Taxi back to the airport and the clinic would give us a voucher for that later.  OK – I didn’t need to stress about getting back to the airport.  So now we waited at the clinic to see a doctor.

I’ll stop here for now.  So if you want to know how the story continues be sure to check back.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!  And I always enjoy the comments – including the ones about your travel troubles – glad to hear I wasn’t the only one.

I’m back from the Stampin’ Up! Convention

I’m home – actually got home Sunday evening.  After a full week of creative fun with friends from all over the country my body is exhausted and my brain is full of new inspiration and ideas.  I spent Monday doing not much – it was actually my anniversary – 24 years – and I made an anniversary card for Greg – I really love how it turned out.  He brought roses home for me – just not because he remembered our anniversary 🙁 – but just because he loves me :).  We went out to a nice dinner and that was all we did for our anniversary.  Now to plan the 25th and a trip to Alaska – that is the plan anyway – now that I know when Convention is – well at least what week it will be – I can plan that trip for next summer. Look at the beautiful roses –

And here is the Anniversary Card that I made for Greg –

seriously-love-you

Here are some quick notes about this card –

  • Cherry Cobbler for the card base
  • A piece of Marina Mist Designer paper from the Polka Dot Parade pack (don’t forget there is sale this month on designer paper)
  • The arrow strip is from the Modern Medley Designer Paper pack – I cut out just a strip of the arrows and then colored in between the arrows with Stampin’ Write Markers – Marina Mist and Cherry Cobbler
  • A strip of Silver Glimmer paper
  • A circle of Very Vanilla punched with the 2-1/2″ Circle punch, stamped and pierced – first stamp “Love you” from Seasonal Sayings stamp set in Marina Mist on Very Vanilla card stock – punch out; stamp again in Cherry Cobbler and cut out the “you” into a banner; and punch out the little heart with the little circle in the Cupcake Builder punch; use the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack, Pierce Mat, and Paper Piercing tool to pierce the circle.
  • Stamp “Seriously” in Cherry Cobbler ink on Very Vanilla card stock – the stamp is from one of the monthly Paper Pumpkin kits (there are some great stamps in these kits and a sign up special right now too – ask me about it); cut out with the Chalk Talk Framelit label and the Big Shot – line up on one side – cut and then line up the other side to make the shorter label when you cut a second time.
  • Attach everything to the card base – designer papers, glitter paper – flat with adhesive, the circle with dimensionals and the punched/cut pieces with dimensionals
  • Finish the card by adding the little heart clip (or an arrow which is current) tied with some Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine.

Greg didn’t remember it was our anniversary until he read the card which says – happy anniversary on the inside – but he did bring me flowers.

Happy Stamping!  I’ll be sharing convention pictures and more so be sure to come back again!

Swallowtail Note Card Set

I love how these turned out!  We made this Swallowtail Note Card set at my In-Color class last month.  I think this was one of my favorite projects and the perfect gift for someone.  I’m not sure why I waited so long to get the Swallowtail Stamp.  I know it is big and can be intimidating to use but it worked out so nicely for this project.

Swallowtail-notecards

The set includes 5 notecards with the envelopes packaged inside a clear bag, tied with ribbon and finished with a cute tag.  Here are some close ups for you to get a better look at everything.

swallowtailThe note cards are smaller than the regular cards we normally make and the big Swallowtail stamp is much bigger than the front of the card so I decided to wrap the stamp around the back.

  • Don’t fold the note card until after you do the stamping.
  • Stamp the Swallowtail image in Versamark Ink and cover with Clear Embossing Powder.  Heat set with the Heat Tool.
  • use a Stampin’ Sponge and ink to sponge around the embossed image – I start in the center where I want it to be darker and then sponge in a circular motion out to the edge.  Repeat until the whole butterfly is covered – it pops right off the card!
  • Stamp a greeting on the bottom of the card.
  • Stamp a matching envelope – I use the smaller swallowtail image from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set.

swallowtail-notesI made a card in each of the five new In-Colors – Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar, Strawberry Slush, Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe.

After sliding all the card inside the bag.  Tie it shut with a piece of the Ruffled Ribbon and add a tag from the Chalk Talk set.

Chalk-Talk-tagLove that set with the matching framelits!  I added a little flower to dress up the tag.

A cute gift don’t you think!

We all scream for Ice Cream

I scream, you scream.  We all scream for Ice Cream!!  And the new Stampin’ Up! In-Colors scream Ice Cream – don’t you think?  I do.  So one of the things on my list for the In-Color hands-on class that I had this month was to make an ice cream cone card.  Before I had a chance to make mine my friend Cindy created one – great minds think alike!  So I took her inspiration and created a card for my class.

ice-cream-cone

  • I used the Cupcake Builder punch to make the ice cream scoops – a scoop of Strawberry Slush, a scoop of Pistachio Pudding and a scoop of Crisp Cantaloup.  Each scoop was sponged with the same color of ink.
  • I used the Pennant Duo punch to make the ice cream cone – Baked Brown Sugar cone.  Embossed with the Big Shot and the Square Lattice Embossing folder. Then sponged with Baked Brown Sugar ink.
  • I glued the scoops on top of the cone.  To the top add a cherry – punched from the Cupcake Builder punch from the Strawberry Slush card stock and use the Baked Brown Sugar marker to color the stem.  If you would like – carefully sponge one side of the cherry.
  • cone-close-upThe card base is Strawberry Slush card stock – punched on the front edge with the Scallop Border punch – then I used the Paper Piercer and piercing mat to pierce a whole in the center of each scallop.  On the inside of the card I glued a piece of Pistachio Pudding card stock.  Its a little hard to see in the photo.
  • Stamp greeting on the front – lower right hand corner with Baked Brown Sugar ink – I used “SMILE” from the Happy Day stamp set.
  • On the front glue a half piece of a paper doily and then a strip of the Quatrefancy Specialty Designer paper – the Strawberry Slush print.
  • Tie Whisper White Baker’s Twine around the front of the card – tie in a bow.
  • Add the ice cream cone with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Sent it to someone special!

Products are available to order in my online store.

Thanks for stopping by!

Mosaic Madness – Fast Friends

Well apparently I took a few days off from posting to my blog.  I didn’t actually mean to do that.

So this week I thought I would share some Mosaic Madness with you.  The Mosaic Madness stamp set and the Mosaic punch are becoming fast friends when it comes to making these cards – they fit perfectly together.  And in case you missed it in the catalog – these two are offered as a Bundle and that means you get to save 15% when you order them together.  There are lots of bundles through out the catalog – so keep your eyes out for them.

It does become a bit of a problem though when you go to do a class at someone’s house and you forget to bring the punch!  Yikes!  I didn’t mean to do that either.  But we made do.  The stamp set is equally good friends with the Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder!

in-color-mosiac-madness

Here is the card featuring all the new In-Colors.

  • The base is Baked Brown Sugar.
  • A layer of Whisper White embossed with the Big Shot and the Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder.
  • The stamped images are Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Baked Brown Sugar.  All from Mosaic Madness and punched with the Mosaic punch.  The are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The greeting is from Petite Pairs – which is on sale 25% off this month!!
  • I tied some Linen Thread around to finish it off.

I was really happy with the way this card turned out and that I was able to include all of the new In-Colors on it.  I attached the punched out pieces to the embossed layer and then trimmed those that hung over the edge prior to attaching it to the card base.

So in case your wondering what we did without the punch – we stamped the images directly on the embossed layer.  Not quite the same dimension but still a great card.  I didn’t keep one to show you though.

I have more to share using these Mosaic Madness items so be sure to come back throughout the week.
