September Scrapbook Class

When: Wednesday, September 30th

Time: 6:30 pm

Come join me for my monthly scrapbook class.

We will be making two 2-page 12×12 spreads at this scrapbook class. You will be able to take your pages home and add your pictures.

This month’s pages include a sport themed layout – mine is created using the Just Soccer stamp set, I also have Just Tennis and an old sport set with a variety of choices.

If you want to bring your own set for a specific sport that is fine too or let me know ahead and I can try to borrow one for baseball or football.

This layout can be used to showcase your child playing a sport or for pictures of you and your family attending a game or event.

The second layout using the new Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Mini Catalog – I have it designed as an outdoor layout for hiking pictures, but it could be used for other things too.

Please bring scissors (paper snips) and adhesive, all other supplies will be provided.

Class fee is $20 and you will receive $10 off with a $50 product order.

Since this is going out late please let me know no later than Tuesday afternoon (9/29) if you plan to come so I can cut your kit.

I hope you can join me – we always have a great time!

My next scrapbook class will be October 21st.  This is a week early – I’m trading weeks with my hands on class so I can attend the Stampin’ Up! Regional Seminar on the 23rd.

Turkey Treat Holder

It’s the final project from my Treat Class and this one was one of the favorites from everyone that came.turkey-treat I’ll be making a flock of these for Thanksgiving this year to use on our table.  This project uses the Big Shot and some punches.

This idea originated from a demo that made Big Shot boxes for each month of the year and took them to a Stampin’ Up! event to share with everyone.  Stampin’ Up! liked the idea so much they posted it on our Demonstrator website for all of us to see and use.  I made a few slight changes from the original project.  She used the Bag w/scallops dies and has the full circle on the front and back of the box – so it is taller than my version.

My version has the Box #2 die as the inside of the container – the top flaps were cut off so it is an open box.  It is large enough to hold a cello bag filled with a cookie, or trail mix, or popcorn or an assortment of candy. Then I cut two Chocolate Chip Scallop Circles.  I placed these on my box so that where the bottom of the box was is covered all the way across by the scallop circle – here I marked and then scored in between the scallops.  Once you get one done then you can use it as a template to mark the rest.  The scallop circle is attached with sticky strip to the outside of the box – the scored flap is folded under and sticky strip holds it to the bottom.  This give the bottom of the box more support if yo were putting something heavier inside.  If you don’t like that then just cut the scallop circle off at the bottom of the box.

To make the tail feathers cut a Scallop Circle die on the Big Shot – one in Pumpkin Pie, one in More Mustard and one in Old Olive. Fold them in half and cut from the center of the circle out to in between the scallops.  You need two Pumpkin pie pieces that have four scallops, two More Mustard pieces with four scallops and one Old Olive piece with four scallops.  Then fold the Pumpkin Pie and More Mustard ones in half.  For the Old Olive fold in one scallop from each side.  I used the bone folder to crease them all good.  Then use snail and attach to the front of the box – lining them up with the Chocolate Chip scallops.  Start in the center with the Old Olive.  Then add More Mustard on each side – I have the fold on the outside.  Then add the Pumpkin Pie pieces on each side – again with the fold on the outside.

Since my Turkey box was smaller I made my turkey smaller than the original one was.  I used the 1-3/4″ circle punch for the body and a 1″ circle punch for the head.  Black eyes are punched with the Crop-A-Dile and highlighted with a white gel pen.  The feet are the large flower form the BoHo Blossoms punch – cut a piece with 3 petals for each foot.  The nose is also from the largest flower on the BoHo Blossoms punch – one petal.  The waddle is the smallest flower – cut away 3 petals on one side and then 2 on the other and it leaves you with the waddle shape.  I use my 2-way glue pen when I do punch art and usually a pair of fine tipped craft tweezers are the best thing – the kind with the reverse handle so when you aren’t holding it it holds the piece and when you press the handles together it let’s go.  I have found these to be very helpful when working with tiny pieces in punch art.  Once the turkey is all together I stuck him on the front of the box with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

It is a fun little box and once you make one the rest going much faster.  Using a combination of various Big Shot boxes, other dies and punches you can create a box for every month of the year.  I love my Big Shot  – if you don’t have one make sure to put it on your wish list and let your family know to give me a call or send them to my website so they can order it for you.  And remember if you order it from me I’ll decorate your Big Shot for you too!   Here is a look at mine:

big-shotI decorated mine shortly after I got it more than a year ago.  And I personally decorated all the ones that I have sold so far.  I have been using various Rub-Ons so everyone has their very own unique Big Shot once it is decorated.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Valentine Sweet Treats

sweet-treat-valentinesIt took me a few tries to figure out how to get this Valentine heart to work for me.  This is the Sweet Centers stamp set in the new Holiday Mini Catalog.  The picture from Stampin’ Up! has these cute little valentines made using the Sweet Treat cups.  I wanted to make them so I stamped my hearts, cut them out and put my candy in the container and put it all together.  It was very quick – but the plastic from the sweet treat cups hung over the edges and the bottom and top of my heart.  I tried to trim it with my Craft & Rubber scissors but it really just made a mess – the plastic is a good thickness and then it has adhesive on it so my edges were not what I wanted them to be.  So I had to experiment some with this one until it pleased me.

I know it is early to think of Valentine’s Day but I wanted to use all the different stamps in this set to showcase its versatility.

So the best way that I found to create this is as follows:

  1. Start with a piece of card stock (I used Whisper White) and stamp the heart image.
  2. Fill the Sweet treat Cup and remove the adhesive and adhere to the center of the heart image.
  3. Now trim out the heart being sure you leave a wide enough edge that the plastic from the cup stays covered.
  4. Stamp another heart image on another piece of card stock.
  5. Punch out the center with the 1-3/4″ circle punch.
  6. Adhere this over the top of the Sweet Centers Cup lining it up with the back heart and then trim to match the heart.
  7. I punched a hole in the top and added a tag.  When I tried to tie it all the way around my thread kept slipping off.  This way it uses less thread and you just tie it in the corner.

The cup showing on the edges wouldn’t be an issue if you just had this on a card front and covered it with a full piece of card stock that wasn’t trimmed right along the edges of the heart.  You could just stamp the heart on a square piece of card stock and not trim it at all – I’m sure that would be cute too and faster to make since you won’t have all the cutting to do.

If you haven’t bought these little Sweet Treat cups they are fun to use and not too big.  If you want to mail them we have padded envelopes just for that purpose.  I’m waiting on my envelopes to come and I’ll mail one and let you know how much it costs.

Have a sweet day!

Stampin’ Up! Treat Boxes

One of the new items in the Stampin’ Up! catalog are TREAT BOXES.  These are on page 159.  They are coated and food-safe for gifts of all kinds of treats.  You get 5 in a package for $3.95.  They come flat and you just assemble. Add some ribbon and a tag and you have a really cute quick project.

SU-treat-box This was project #5 in my Treat class last week.  This was also one of our convention projects – well really two of our convention projects – I kind of combined two different things that we made at convention.

At convention we made the treat box and the tag that is in the front right side of my picture.  That was one of our Make-n-Take projects.  Then another one was the four tags using the new Stampin’ Up! Two Tags Bigz Die for the Big Shot.  We made four tags total.  For my class we used one of the fold up tags to hang on the treat bag.  These little fold up tags would be cute with a candy cane tuck inside – but I searched and searched for candy canes and just couldn’t find them yet.  Halloween candy is what is on the shelves right now.  So we made this quick project without the candy canes – those you can add later.

These boxes can be easily used for any holiday – change the ribbon, change the tag and your good to go.  They have a scalloped edge and a little punch out that creates a handle.  You don’t even need any adhesive for the box itself.

The little stamp set we used here is Sweet Season one of the new Holiday stamp sets.

In case you can’t read what it says – the image with the house says “From our house to yours”, and the one with lots of words says “gingerbread & sugared things – enjoy the sweets the season brings”.

This tag with the scallop on one side is the one I used on my 50/50 jar that I posted last week.  This is what it looks like just cut once with the tag portion left on it.   I plan to make up sets of tags to sell at the Holiday Bazaar that I will be taking part in on Oct. 3rd.  If you live near Woodstock, GA I hope you will come by.

Have a sweet day!
