Jul 11, 2009 | Colored Brads, Stamper's Club, Stamps, SU Ribbon, Techniques, Wanted |
I know 4th of July has passed but we can always use a fun Red, White and Blue card any time. And this could be easily changed to some other color and make a great birthday card. Actually this idea is from a birthday card that my sister-in-law, Stephanie, sent to Tyler for his birthday one year – he has an August birthday – I have been saving it because I liked the pinwheel on it.
I used Real Red and Night of Navy and added the star brad in the center. I have been trying to find a project for the star brads and this was the perfect one. While it isn’t in this picture – I actually took the brad and smooshed it into a craft ink pad (I had to use Ruby Red since I didn’t have Real Red) and got ink all into the grooves of the brad and then wiped it with a paper towel so that ink in the grooves stayed but the other ink wiped off. I’ll get a picture later today and add it to this post later.
The new modern label punch worked great with the Family Phrases set where the “let’s celebrate” is from. I always fall back to using my Itty Bitty Backgrounds splatter stamp when I think my project needs something and it finished this one off nicely – atleast I thought it did.
This was one of our club projects last night for my Stamper’s Club meeting. We have one more meeting for this round in August and then I’ll start a new group in September. If you are not in the club now and want to join please let me know and I’ll send you all the details.
Have a fun weekend!

Jun 12, 2009 | Chipboard, Designer Series Paper, Stamper's Club, SU Ribbon |
Last Friday was my Stamper’s Club meeting. I already shared a few things earlier this week. I had another project to share – this is a desk organizer. This idea came from my upline – Wendy. It was a project she submitted to one of the Stampin’ Up! contests a few month’s ago. If you are a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator you can find instructions for it on the demonstrator website under the Stamping Challenge Ideas – I believe hers was from the Sale-A-Bration challenge.
We used the Good Morning Sunshine Designer Series paper which is retiring this month. The Kiwi Kiss striped ribbon is also retiring this month. This was the chipboard that Bethany was able to color one-handed with the sponge daubers – see the post about her broken arm – it is the So Tweet chipboard.
Here are the views of the two sides which were also decorated.

I have mine on my craft table when I’m working and it hold all the little things I seem to lose. My bone folders, pens and pencils, my paper snips, my little ruler, my little tweezers, etc.
It is a happy little organizer that makes me want to smile when I see it!
Have a happy day and a great weekend!

The Wagon Full of Fun set from the Occasions Mini Catalog is a great set to use for Watercoloring. I recently made a card using the flower pot and posted it on here. I had it laying on my craft table and decided to use the same layout for a card for the Stamper’s Club meeting but I wanted to use a different image and colors that what I had originally done. I browsed my catalog for a color combination that I liked and came up with Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red and So Saffron with Kraft as the neutral – these were used on page 133 in the catalog. I used watercolor paper and stamped the image twice – so that I could create a 3-D effect by cutting just the part I wanted to pop-up out of the second image – in this case it was the frosting and candle on the cupcake. It is hard to see in the picture but it looks very 3-d in person. I made the same card using the little duck – but don’t have a picture yet.

My Thoughts & Prayers Emergency Card Kit class is this week – Wed night class is almost full (1 spot left) and I have a Thursday afternoon class with space left. If you would like to attend call be right away to reserve your spot.
Have a happy stampin’ day!

My Stamp Club meeting was last night and we made some fun projects!
We only had one problem…. Bethany came with a broken arm! How creative can you be with a broken arm?
Well it didn’t stop us – we found one-handed jobs for her to do – like coloring the chipboard with craft ink and sponge daubers. And then we got creative with Rub-ons……look at this great idea…..
I still had rub-ons left from Sale-A-Bration a couple of years ago, so I pulled those out and started working on making it the prettiest cast around! What do you think? Maybe we need to set up a rub-on station somewhere near a doctors office so everyone can stop in and get some decorations done!
Since I had the camera out – I took pictures of everyone working on their projects (except the few that weren’t at the meeting). Here are some of the Stamper’s Club girls hard at work – Lisa, Jamie, Yvonne, Cari and Bethay.

I’m off to finish up stuff for our Couples Pokeno party tonight. Have a great weekend!

Friday night was my Stamper’s Club meeting. We made three projects.
One was a beaded pen to go with the Good Friend Box. This is our on going project – every month we add something else to the box that we made the first month.
The second was a new technique – this idea came from Patty Bennett – she called it her Brayered Rose Technique. The card design is pretty much the same as one of Patty’s samples.
I added a matching stamped envelope.
The third project was a card I designed on Friday a few hours before the club meeting. Sometimes creativity pops in just at the last minute – atleast that’s what happens to me alot. Remember the pound puppy carrier I showed a couple of
days ago? I really liked the combination of the colors – and that was what inspired this card. And I wanted to use the designer hardware eyelet pieces from Stampin’ Up! – I have had them for quite some time and haven’t even tried them. So this card came out of that and turned into a heavy card with all the brads that I added.
My Stamper’s Club members get to come to a class like this every month and it is free. Occasionally we have an extra small supply fee so we can make some WOW projects. If you would like to join the Stamper’s Club please let me know and I can give you all the information. We have a few months left in this group and then we’ll start again. Everyone has the opportunity to be the hostess one month and earn free hostess stamp sets and other products from the catalog. The Stamper’s Club page on my blog is for members of the club.
I should have turned this card in to the Late Night Stampers challenge last week – it was about circles – now that I look at it there are a lot of circles on it. This design would work as a masculine card – just change the flowers to different circle images. That’s the LNS challenge for this week. I may have to make this card again as a Masculine card and use the star brad instead of the flower. Gears are turning in my head…..I seem to always come up with ideas late at night when I should be in bed asleep.
Update on Aspen – he seems to feel better with his meds. I have had him on the leash to walk him in the yard since he did feel good enough that he wanted to run. Several times Magnolia got him up when she barked at something out the front window or out back. It is going to be a long 4 weeks trying to keep him calm…
Goodnight – I’ll talk to you all tomorrow.

Happiness is a beautiful spring day!
This morning I spent some time outside planting flowers and watching the birds. I took some pictures but haven’t put them on the computer yet. I’ll do that tomorrow. All the babies are growing by next week some might be ready to leave the nest – the Robin babies are pretty big now and keep stretching their wings like they are ready to fly.
This afternoon I took Ryan to his tennis match he played the boys line 2 singles match for his team and won 8 games to 5. He had a good sports weekend so far – one more soccer game tomorrow afternoon. I took pictures of him playing tennis and want to work on some tennis scrapbook pages.
Tonight all of us went out to dinner as a family – we haven’t had the chance to do that in a while. It seems somebody always has something going on. And then we came home and sat outside on the porch for a little while enjoying the weather while Ryan and the dogs played in the backyard.
So a beautiful spring day reminded me of this card that we made in the Stamper’s Club back in March. The ladybug is a punch art project and the card itself is actually a slider card. The ladybug can slide around on the little track that is cut into the front of the card. We used one of the new jumbo brads to hold the ladybug in the track. It was a fun interactive card.
I worked in the craft room tonight – finishing up samples for the Blog Tour on Monday – I have all of mine completed now – my stamp set is the Sense of Time set. Come join the tour on Monday – all the links along the tour will be available from 8:00 am to Midnight.
I hope you will take some time to stop by and join me and others on the tour – traveling around the country visiting demonstrator blogs and seeing samples using products from the Occasion Mini Catalog. All the deomstrators are very excited!
I also finished one of the scrapbook pages for my Wednesday night class. I’ll show you a sneak peek tomorrow.
