Stampers Club

Friday night was my Stamper’s Club meeting.  We made three projects.may-beaded-pen One was a beaded pen to go with the Good Friend Box.  This is our on going project – every month we add something else to the box that we made the first month.

The second was a new technique – this idea came from Patty Bennett – she called it her Brayered Rose Technique.  The card design is pretty much the same as one of Patty’s samples.may-roses-cardI added a matching stamped envelope.

The third project was a card I designed on Friday a few hours before the club meeting.  Sometimes creativity pops in just at the last minute – atleast that’s what happens to me alot.  Remember the pound puppy carrier I showed a couple of May---hardware-carddays ago?  I really liked the combination of the colors – and that was what inspired this card.  And I wanted to use the designer hardware eyelet pieces from Stampin’ Up! – I have had them for quite some time and haven’t even tried them.  So this card came out of that and turned into a heavy card with all the brads that I added.

My Stamper’s Club members get to come to a class like this every month and it is free.  Occasionally we have an extra small supply fee so we can make some WOW projects.  If you would like to join the Stamper’s Club please let me know and I can give you all the information.  We have a few months left in this group  and then we’ll start again.  Everyone has the opportunity to be the hostess one month and earn free hostess stamp sets and other products from the catalog.  The Stamper’s Club page on my blog is for members of the club.

I should have turned this card in to the Late Night Stampers challenge last week – it was about circles – now that I look at it there are a lot of circles on it.  This design would work as a masculine card – just change the flowers to different circle images.  That’s the LNS challenge for this week.  I may have to make this card again as a Masculine card and use the star brad instead of the flower.  Gears are turning in my head…..I seem to always come up with ideas late at night when I should be in bed asleep.

Update on Aspen – he seems to feel better with his meds.  I have had him on the leash to walk him in the yard since he did feel good enough that he wanted to run.  Several times Magnolia got him up when she barked at something out the front window or out back.  It is going to be a long 4 weeks trying to keep him calm…

Goodnight – I’ll talk to you all tomorrow.

Stamper’s Showcase

I was so excited this morning to see one of my cards on Stamper’s Showcase!

Stamper’s Showcase is a great resource for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators on the demonstrator website from Stampin’ Up!  Every day Stampin’ Up! posts ideas from demonstrators like me.  These are contest entries or swaps from Stampin’ Up! events.

I always hope that one day one of my cards will show up on there and finally I made it!

This was one of my swap cards that I made for the Leadership Conference in Orlando.  The colors made me think of Florida.  The idea came from a card I saw in a magazine and I adapted it to use all Stampin’ Up! products.

Here are the details:

Supplies:

  • Petal Pizzazz Stamp Set
  • Jumbo Outline Alphabet Stamp Set
  • Kraft card stock: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″
  • Tangerine Tango card stock: 5-1/4″ x 4″
  • Kiwi Kiss card stock:  4″ x 1/4″
  • Whisper White card stock: 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″
  • Tangerine Tango Designer Series paper Patterns: 4″ x 1/2″
  • Versa Marker
  • Tangerine Tango classic ink
  • Kiwi Kiss classic ink
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • 3/16″ corner rounder punch

Instructions:

  1. Fold Kraft card stock in half to form card base.  Corner round all four corners.
  2. Adhere Kiwi Kiss strip to Tangerine Tango card stock.
  3. Adhere Tangerine Tango Designer paper strip to Tangerine Tango card stock.
  4. Corner round all four corners of the Tangerine Tango card stock.
  5. Adhere to the front of the Kraft card.
  6. Stamp flower from Petal Pizzaz stamp set in Tangerine Tango ink on Whisper White card stock.  Stamp four  leaves and stem from Petal Pizzaz stamp set in Kiwi Kiss ink on Whisper White card stock.  Cut out all pieces with Paper snips.  I prefer to leave a little bit of white showing around my image.
  7. Adhere stem to the front of the Tangerine Tango card stock.  Stamp ‘HI’ with the Jumbo Outline Alphabet set.  Color in the letters with a VersaMarker.
  8. Adhere the flower to the end of the stem with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
  9. Adhere leaves tucked under the flower.  I put two flat with Snail and two raised on dimensionals.

This is a happy card so have a happy day!

Bird update for today – the bluebird nest – three eggs this morning.  The chickadee nest – I can just barely see one egg tucked down in a corner – there could be more in there.  The robin is spending alot more time sitting on her nest so she may be done laying her eggs.  The Towhee seems to be on her nest most of the day incubating her eggs.  Since I’m not sure how long it had been since she layed the third egg I’ll have to guess at how many days it will be until they hatch.  Incubation is between 12-13 days.  I found the nest on the 30th – so counting days by the end of next week they should start hatching.  I’ll let you know next week when it happens.

UPDATE: I just peeked in on the Towhee and she flew out of the nest so I checked on the eggs – guess what there is a fourth egg in there!  It is smaller than the other 3 – a runt egg – so it may not hatch.  So she wasn’t actually done laying her eggs until later – maybe yesterday because I thought I checked two days in a row and both times there were 3 eggs.  It might be after Easter before they hatch…

Thanks for visiting today!

Tea Party

tea-party-flower-card

Hi everyone!

It is a rainy Saturday in Georgia.  It seems we have had alot of rainy days but it is a really good thing because our lakes are so low from the lack of rain last year.  My parents and my brother all live up on Lake Lanier and it still needs lots of water to get to normal water levels.  So rain is good for the lakes, but bad for tennis matches and soccer games.  Luckily Ryan played his tennis match early – yesterday afternoon – he lost 8 games to 1 against a boy that was 13 years old and 6 feet tall!  Greg’s tennis was cancelled and Ryan’s soccer game is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.

I wanted to share this card with you.  It was the last project that we made at the STARZ meeting last weekend.  I really like this style of a card – especially to use it for invitations.  It is like a pocket and you pull out the inside panel where you can have all of your information.  This particular one is a thank you card.  The colors used here are Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, and Almost Amethyst.  The Designer Paper is called Tea Party.  The stamped flower is from Petal Pizzazz – but we ran the white cardstock through the Big Shot with a Texture plate first and then stamped the flower – which gives it a totally different look.  You may also notice a new accessory on there too.  Coming April 1st the new Occasions Mini includes new Designer Hardware – the center of the flower is a Basic Jumbo Grommet.  These will come in an assortment with Basic Black, Silver, Very Vanilla, and Whisper White.  The ribbon is the new Whisper White Organza Ribbon in the main catalog.

Enjoy your weekend!
