Oct 6, 2009 | Big Shot, Christmas Punch, Holiday Mini Catalog 2009 |
One of the items that I made to sell at the Holiday Bazaar were packs of gift tags. I love making gift tags to go on all the gifts under our Christmas tree. I pulled out a variety of stamp sets both new and retired, my Big Shot, and my punches and got busy. They were quick and easy. I packaged up sets of them in cello bags, tied them with gold or silver cord and tied on one of the felt snowflakes from last year. Too bad we don’t have new snowflakes for this year.
For some I used my Big Shot and the Two Tags die to cut the tag bases out. I used Kraft card stock and then pulled the edges across my Whisper White Craft ink pad. I really like the way this looks. For this set – I used the folded tag from the die and then used the images from the Christmas Punch stamp set. This is a Level 2 hostess set and all the image fit into one of our punches. I was the first hostess set that I got.
The next set of tags uses the other tag on the Two Tags die – it has a scallop end on one side. It layers nicely with the Scallop circle punch. I used the snowflake image from the Sweet Seasons stamp set for this one. It is stamped in Night of Navy on Whisper White card stock. Punched out and adhered to the Kraft colored tag. I also stamped the to/from on there. These tags would be cute with a clear rhinestone brad in the center or each snowflake or even adding some dazzling diamonds glitter on them.
Another quick set for tags is the new Delightful Decorations stamp set paired with the Ornament Punch. I stamped a whole sheet of Whisper White card stock with the images and then punched them all out. I added some elastic cord to the top of each one and these were very quick to make.
One of them already has the to/from on the image and the others I just stamped it on the back.
Remember to stamp your image first then hole your punch upside down so you can see the image inside the punch. Adjust the image to fit in the opening and then punch. I always punch this way so I can see what I am doing.
Rain, rain go away, come again another day – like tomorrow is fine. The county band exhibition is tonight and all the marching bands in our county will be performing their shows. We need the rain to move out so they can get this done tonight. Our band is going to competition on Saturday and this performance will give them some feedback from an outside person on where they need to improve. Due to all the rain they have been short on practice time and still need to work on their closer. I hope they get it done. One last practice right after school today, then feed them, get into uniform, and head to the exhibition, get home late tonight —I guess homework will not get done or Tyler will be up late tonight.
Good Luck to the Etowah marching Eagles – have an awesome performance!

I made this card a few weeks ago for the STARZ meeting. It was my project demonstration and share.
I needed to show a project using the Sweet Treat cups from the Holiday Mini Catalog. I really like these little cups – I have many in progress projects with these little cups – ideas I have had and started on but they aren’t yet finished. But this one was finished for the STARZ meeting. It is mostly a copied idea from a Demonstrator named Mike – yes he is a man and there are quite a few male Stampin’ Up! demonstrators. Men are quite creative and Mike came up with this awesome idea that created a “trap door” (now I’m not sure that is what he called it) so that you can get out the candy without tearing up the card.
So notice on the front of the card the Basic Black card stock with the EEK circle that actually slides into a pocket created by the stamped image from the Sweet Centers stamp set and the Sweet Treat cup. To let the candy out you pull up the tag.
Here is a view of the inside of the card when the tag is pulled up. The circle is opened and the candy falls out!
Then you can refill it and close it back up. Isn’t it a clever idea?
The punch I used is the 1-3/4″ Circle punch which is exactly the right size for the Sweet Treat cups. For the front of my card I have several layers – the card base Pumpkin Pie, then Old Olive card stock, then the Cast-A-Spell Designer Series paper. The punch will only punch through one layer at a time. So I punch the card base first – slide the punch in as far as it will go. Then add the next layer line up your punch with the previous circle and punch again. Then do the next layer.
When adding the Sweet Treat cup you have two layers of card stock – one is Basic Black with the hole punched out of the center. Adhere the Sweet Treat cup to this one – remove the backing on the edge of the cup to reveal the adhesive. Then adhere the stamped Whisper White cards tock (again with the hole punched out of the center) over the sweet treat cup. The EEK is the piece that was punched from the center of this layer. When adhering the cup piece to the front of the card put adhesive only on the two sides and the bottom so you don’t close up the pocket.
This was a fun card to make!
Thanks for stopping by today!

This layout can be used to showcase your child playing a sport or for pictures of you and your family attending a game or event.
The second layout using the new Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Mini Catalog – I have it designed as an outdoor layout for hiking pictures, but it could be used for other things too.

It took me a few tries to figure out how to get this Valentine heart to work for me. This is the Sweet Centers stamp set in the new Holiday Mini Catalog. The picture from Stampin’ Up! has these cute little valentines made using the Sweet Treat cups. I wanted to make them so I stamped my hearts, cut them out and put my candy in the container and put it all together. It was very quick – but the plastic from the sweet treat cups hung over the edges and the bottom and top of my heart. I tried to trim it with my Craft & Rubber scissors but it really just made a mess – the plastic is a good thickness and then it has adhesive on it so my edges were not what I wanted them to be. So I had to experiment some with this one until it pleased me.
I know it is early to think of Valentine’s Day but I wanted to use all the different stamps in this set to showcase its versatility.
So the best way that I found to create this is as follows:
- Start with a piece of card stock (I used Whisper White) and stamp the heart image.
- Fill the Sweet treat Cup and remove the adhesive and adhere to the center of the heart image.
- Now trim out the heart being sure you leave a wide enough edge that the plastic from the cup stays covered.
- Stamp another heart image on another piece of card stock.
- Punch out the center with the 1-3/4″ circle punch.
- Adhere this over the top of the Sweet Centers Cup lining it up with the back heart and then trim to match the heart.
- I punched a hole in the top and added a tag. When I tried to tie it all the way around my thread kept slipping off. This way it uses less thread and you just tie it in the corner.
The cup showing on the edges wouldn’t be an issue if you just had this on a card front and covered it with a full piece of card stock that wasn’t trimmed right along the edges of the heart. You could just stamp the heart on a square piece of card stock and not trim it at all – I’m sure that would be cute too and faster to make since you won’t have all the cutting to do.
If you haven’t bought these little Sweet Treat cups they are fun to use and not too big. If you want to mail them we have padded envelopes just for that purpose. I’m waiting on my envelopes to come and I’ll mail one and let you know how much it costs.
Have a sweet day!

Sep 19, 2009 | Circle Scissor Plus, class, Holiday Mini Catalog 2009, Rock 'n Roll, SU Ribbon, Summer Fun Cookout, Tutorial |
My post yesterday was short because I was in a hurry in between various things I was doing. So I’m back today to elaborate more on the flower – I had several people ask how to make the flower. I think when you see the Sweet Centers stamp set in the Holiday Mini Catalog it isn’t completely clear what that stamp is supposed to be.
So here is my version of the flower – and I’m sure you can do it many different ways with different amounts and layers of petals. I tried a couple of different things before I settled on what was the easiest for me.
1. First I started with a 3″ x 3″ square of card stock. I used the 1-3/4″ circle punch to punch a circle out of the center. I laid it over one of the sweet treat cups.
2. I stamped 16 petals. In these pictures they are just stamped in So Saffron ink on Whisper White card stock. My finished example they are stamped in So Saffron and rolled in Close to Cocoa on the edges for each petal. I cut out all 16 petals with my paper snips. I tried to punch the petals with one of the oval punches but none of them fit exactly. Now that I think about it if you didn’t have the stamp set you could still make flowers – by punching out petals with an oval and then use a circle to add the curve against the cup….just a thought of something else to try (wouldn’t that be pretty with DSP….ok see now I’m on to more ideas – I better get back to my craft room once I finish this post).
3. I basically created 4 layers of petals. The first layer is 4 petals attached to the square with snail.

4. The next layer is 4 more petals attached in the spaces between the first four. Again using snail. You could stop with that and have a pretty flower – but I wanted more.

5. I added the next layer of 4 petals with Stampin’ Dimensionals again in between the petals I already put down – place them in every other space.
The leaves you can see in this photo are attached with snail in between the layers that were snailed down and the ones on dimensionals. I actually added them at the very end.
6. Then add the the last 4 petals in the remaining spaces using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
7. So to finish I trimmed the square in the back so that you couldn’t see it. You may ask why didn’t I start with a circle – I tried that but it was harder to punch the hole out of the center and harder to get the petals lined up. So for me I found it easier using the square and trimming it afterwards. I did cut a 3″ circle using my Circle Scissors – my finished photo shows a So Saffron piece – but for my class I used Chocolate Chip which I like better. This is the back of the flower. So take the Sweet Treat cup and fill it with the candy – my picture used M&Ms but my class used chocolate covered raisins (they are all brown colored). Fill the cup and adhere it to the Chocolate chip circle. Then set it down and adhere the flower over the top of the cup – I just used my snail.
Then I used tape to attach the skewer to the back – my skewers were the ones from the Country Living Summer cookout kit (they aren’t pointed).
I added Old Olive ribbon and then create a tag using the Oval Stamp set.
Here is the final project one more time.

I hope that all made sense. I have new example using the Valentine heart which was giving me trouble to begin with. I figure out what to do though – so check back for that one on another day.
Thanks for stopping by – it is again a Rainy Day in Georgia …..stay dry.
