Build-a-Bear Color Match Game

Today is the day that the December issue of the Stampin’ Success magazine will be online and begin mailing.  I can’t wait to see it – why?  Because I should be in it! If you are a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator you will receive the magazine so look for me!  I can only think of one other time I was in a publication and it was our Annual Report for the company that I last worked for – but my picture showed the back of my head because the photographer liked my hair – so you couldn’t even tell it was me…anyway…..

I sent in my Build-a-Bear idea for thecmg-bears October contest (so I think I sent in actually in September) and it is getting published in the December issue as the winning entry for the Kidding Around contest.  I took my sleeping bag idea and turnecmg-instructionsd it into a Color Match Game for kids.  I made a sleeping bag using each of the colors in the Pawsitively Prints Designer Series Paper – “Green”, “Orange”, “Pink”, “Blue”, and “Yellow”.  Then I made a Build-a-Bear with matching pajamas for each sleeping bag.  I decorated one of the skinny tins that Stampin’ Up! has for sale in the clearance section of the online store.  The sleeping bags and bears fit inside.  I used My Digital Studio to create the instruction sheet that I attached inside the lid.   I don’t know what photos they will have in the magazine but here are the ones I took before I mailed it away.

I’m working on writing the instructions for the project.  So I’ll post that when I have those ready.  It was very exciting to win the contest and then have a phone interview.  I was very nervous and I think I babbled on about who knows what.  I’ll try to post the article here…

Ok I think I figured out how to get it copied out of the magazine so I can include here.

Here is the little article:

And in the same issue is a write-up on my upline Wendy Randall – a full page article!   And we got our first peek at the new Occasions Mini catalog – with NEW products!! And the new Sale-A-Bration catalog – you’ll want them all! And new Decor Elements too!  Oh my goodness I can’t believe they keep coming up with all these new things that I just have to have.

The dates for the Occasions Mini catalog are Jan 5, 2010 – April 30, 2010 and Sale-A-Bration will be Jan 5, 2010 – March 31, 2010.

Thanks for stopping by today – this is so exciting!

Decor Elements sample book

Last week I had a workshop featuring the Definitely Decorative catalog and Decor Elements – I did not showcase any stamping for this one.  As I prepared for my workshop I decided to create a sample book using pictures that I had taken of the samples at convention/leadership, pictures shared by other demos, pictures from the demo website and pictures from my own home.  I was just going to print them and put them in an album but I decided to do it more creatively so that the guests could see some other Stampin’ Up! items in use.

DE-sample-bookSo I pulled out my Big Shot Die Cut machine and the Top Note die – what did we ever do without them.  I cut a bunch of Chocolate Chip card stock (it is quickly disappearing again).  I also cut up an old Decor Elements brochure to make the cover.

On each page is a photo example of the Decor Elements being used.  The guests at the workshop found it helpful to flip through this little book and see other examples besides the ones in the catalog itself.  de-sample-book2

I also cut out the “step by step” instructions that are shown in the catalog – there are 3 little photos for applying the Decor Elements and also 3 little photos on using thestencils.  I added these to the front and back of my sample book.

I used my Crop-A-Dile to add a hole so that I could put them all on a ring.  Then tied a piece of our Double-Stitched Chocolate Grosgrain ribbon on it.

It seemed to be a helpful little tool and I have it stored in my box to use for next time.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I’m off by myself to Virginia for some girl time.  I plan to post from there throughout the week.

Definitely Decorative Party

I’m having a Stampin’ Up! Definitely Decorative Party for my friend Laura next week.  I only have the regular Stampin’ Up! workshop postcard invitations which weren’t appropriate for this party so I decided to create my own flyer using the new My Digital Studio software.  This is Stampin’ Up! newest product that will be available to customers beginning October 1st.

DE WS Flyer-001

I removed her personal information from my file before posting it.  I have this saved and can use it for future parties too.  So far she has 6 or 7 people attending including one man (and its not her husband).  Now I need to prepare for my presentation – I have some photos from the presentation that demonstrator Christina Crawford made at convention this year.  I’m going to look back through my notes from her class and hopefully have an awesome party next week.  If you are local to Woodstock, GA and want to host your own Definitely Decorative Party – give me a call.  There are exclusive hostess items that you can earn for Free.

I am working on my items to sell at the Holiday Bazaar that is this weekend.  Come see me and some of my friends and get your Christmas Shopping started.  There will be my hand made items, designer purses, metal art jewelry, glass beaded items, candles and more. Here are the details for that:

Decor Elements Framed Art

Earlier this month we had a STARZ group meeting that was a lot of fun.  Wendy had some great projects for us and the one I’m going to share today is very similar to a framed art project I did awhile back with my Stamper’s Club. I got the idea from a project that they showed us at the Regional Conference in Orlando.  My original frame project was this one with the “Welcome” Decor Elements – my club member also used the Inspiration Decor Elements pieces for theirs.  We used the Urban Garden Designer Series paper and the main colors were Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss.  The stamp set is Inspired by Nature.  The Decor Elements is on the glass.  The ribbon is tied around the outside of the glass.  On my frame the butterflies are inside the glass.

welcome-frameI shared the idea at a STARZ meeting and Wendy created her own frame project and another friend, Michelle, also made her own versions.  Wendy had her version as one of our projects at our last STARZ meeting using a smaller frame.  For this one we used the Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper and stamped with the Upsy Daisy stamp set using the baby-wipe technique.  The main colors are Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo.  The butterflies are the Beautiful Butterflies die for the Big Shot and on Wendy’s version we used the Inspiration Decor Elements pieces – mine says “love”.  The other words in the set are “life”, “hope”, and “faith”.  On Wendy’s version the butterfly is attached outside the glass so it looks more 3 dimensional.Upsy-Daisy-frame

I plan to make some more frames in various colors to sell at the Holiday Bazaar in my neighborhood.

If you live near me please plan to come out to this event – everyone is invited.  I will have a table of completed handcrafted items for sale, samples of other Decor Elements projects, a make-n-take project, sign ups for classes and catalogs for ordering.  There will be a variety of other people there to help you get ready for the holidays. Here are the details:

Convention Gift

Sorry about the late post – the day slipped away from me and I just realized I didn’t put one up.

I took Ryan and a friend to the Skate Park today.  They spent several hours on their skateboards and Ryan came home with bumps and bruises and scrapes – oh my!  He should be good and tired tonight and probably sore tomorrow.  But he had fun!

I wanted to share with you one of the gifts I received at convention.  wendys-topnote-purseThis is the gift that my upline Wendy Randall made for everyone in her downline.  She gave them to us at our group meeting on Wednesday night.  The colors are Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie.  This is a Top Note purse that she showed me how to make a few months ago.  I have made several different ones and I’m pretty sure I’ve shown them on my blog.  Hers used the new Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the Big Shot.  The Embossing Folders give a very deep impression because they have both the positive and negative of the embossed portion.  If you use a texture plate it is much more subtle.  The closure on the front was created using a Build-A-Brad.  And the front flap was wheeled with the Jumbo Wheel called Friendly Words.  Wendy also sponged the embossed portion and the front flap to give everything more dimension by the addition of the shadows.

Inside the purse Wendy had a container of embellishments – mine was Basic Gray Corduroy Buttons – I’m assuming everyone had something different – but I didn’t actually ask anyone else what they got.  We also had door prizes at our meeting and I won one of the new Decor Elements called Eat – it has the word “eat” and underneath a fork.    I’ll have to use it to create a menu board to put up in the kitchen.

That goes right along with one of the business classes we took.  It was called “Create a Simpler Life”.
We talked about how hard it can be to fit everything we want into our routines.  So we learned about some everyday shortcuts to
prepare for workshops, make meals, cleaning, and more.  And one of the things mentioned was planning a menu each week. Over the years I have done that at various times – planned meals for the week, planned themes for each night – like mexican night, pasta night, chicken night, etc.  I need to get back to doing something like that again.

In that classdiane they gave away a few prizes and my roommate, Diane, won!

She received a book called “Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Home”.  The author is from Iowa which is where Diane lives so she was thrilled to get it.

Now her job is to read it and pass on to the rest of us all the great cleaning tips she learns!  I’ll take any help I can get to make cleaning this house easier.  I worked on dusting and floors on Friday before my club meeting.  But didn’t finish so I have more to do.

I had a great time at our Stamper’s Club meeting last night.  And all the orders were placed today.  Everybody is going to continue with the club which we will start again in Sept.  I’ll share those projects later this week.  One was the Tile Card from the blog tour that I also used as the project for our group meeting at convention and I posted the picture and instructions that week also – so I won’t show that one again.  But the other two I’ll show – one was a demo from the group meeting and the other one of our Make ‘n Takes from Stampin’ Up!.

Have fun the rest of the weekend!
