Birthday Bakery

Did you read the little quote for this stamp set?

“if you are what you eat, eat something cute!”

What a great little saying!  So I had to make a cute card to go with it.  The stamp set is called Birthday Bakery and it is one of the new Stampin’ Up! Level 1 Hostess sets.

For this card I used a Pear Pizzazz card base and then added a piece of Blushing Bride Designer Series Paper.  The line of cakes is stamped in Black StazOn ink on Whisper White card stock and that is backed with a piece of Soft Suede that I punched with the Scallop Trim Border punch on one edge.

The cakes are colored in with Stampin’ Write Markers. I tried to get a closer view of the cakes because I used the Smooch Pearlized Accent inks on them to give them some glimmer and shine.

The other cute accent is the Bitty Button.  I used the little heart button and the Heart to Heart punch has the matching punched heart which is layered behind it.  The little fibers that I threaded through the button are from the Blushing Bride Stitched Poly Ribbon.  What I did was trim off the white edge of a small piece of ribbon so it would fray and then I took some of the frayed pieces and used a floss threader to thread them through my button.  Then tie them in a knot and you have a cute little accent for this card.  I hope you like it!

You can also go visit the Royal Blog Tour site – I am on there today as the featured Queen.  Mark your calendars for the tour which will be November 5th – 8th.  You can also win prizes if you want to play along with the games.

Spooky Card

Another Halloween project to share with you.  This is my spooky witch boots card.  I bought this stamp set Wicked Cool because I like these witch boots.  For this card I added several new products –

First, the new Web Embossing Folder for the Big Shot, then the new Waffle Paper in Basic Back, and Smooch Spritz and Chunky Black Glitter.

The base of the card is Rich Razzleberry card stock.  To create the spider web piece I used Basic Black card stock and ran it through the Big Shot with the Web Embossing Folder.  Then I used a sponge dauber to add Whisper White craft ink on the embossed portions of the web.  Finally I took it outside (I have bad aim) and used the Color Catcher and my Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz  and spritzed on it.  Ta-da a shimmery spooky web for my card.

To create the medallion for the front of the card – at least that’s what I call it – starts with a piece of Whisper White card stock punched with the 2″ Circle Punch.  Then I stamped the boots and the Spooky on it.  I also stamped an extra pair of boots in Rich Razzleberry and cut those out and added them to the top of the others with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Now to add the ruffle around the circle I cut a strip of the Waffle Paper about 1/2″ wide, put snail adhesive all around the edge of my circle on the back, start with one end of the Waffle Paper and stick it on the snail kind of crunching it up a little – once it is stuck you won’t be able to move it.  I used 1-1/2 strips and just overlapped where one ended and the other started – you can’t see it because of the wrinkles.  Turn it to the front and trim anything that looks uneven.  To add the glitter put some Tombo Multipurpose Adhesive all around the edge of the white circle – then sprinkle with the Chunky Black Glitter.  Then I put the medallion on the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Still no emails about a Bingo winner – oh where oh where has my Bingo winner gone……so here we go again…

UDI Color Challenge – 2

Welcome to week 2 of the new weekly Color Challenge over at the Utah Diva’s International Blog.  Week 1 had some wonderful creations and a really pretty color combination.

Here is the color inspiration we got for this week from Gretchen –

I’m wondering where she finds these pretty pictures!  That is definitely not a shoe that I would ever wear but it sure is cute!  I’m a flats kind of girl or barefoot if I can be….  But this is a color inspiration challenge so I just pulled the colors from my card stock drawer and laid them on my table.  I finally decided on a birthday card and this is what I ended up with.

The layout sketch is actually from an old Stampin’ Success magazine from the first of this year.  I just turned it in a vertical direction.  The stamp set is Birthday Bliss and the Designer Series paper is the Play Date package.  I don’t think you can see it very well in this picture but I added the Gold Lame’ Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink to the candle flame and the Illuminate Top Coat Pearlized Accent Ink to the stripe on the top layer and to the middle layer – so there is a little sparkle and shine on the card.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • Card stock: Real Red, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Regal Rose, Whisper White
  • Ink: Jet Black StazOn, Stampin’ Write Markers: Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Regal Rose
  • Stamp sets: Birthday Bliss
  • Smooch Pearlized Accent Ink: Gold Lame’, Illuminate Top Coat

PAWS – STARZ Meeting Swaps

Ronald McDonald September Visit

This last week we went to stamp with the families at the Ronald McDonald House.  We have a small group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators that go once a month.  We each take turns designing a card and this month was my turn.  I decided to do something with dogs and cats since I was already working on pet projects for my regular monthly class which was also this week.  When designing for RMH we try to keep it fairly simply, usually one color of ink and want it to be easy for everyone to make something of their very own.  I designed two cards using the same supplies but two different stamp sets – D is for Dog and C is for Cat.  Everything was the same color of card stock, designer paper and ribbon – Brocade Blue and the ink was all Chocolate Chip.

I used the same idea for cards in my pet class so I’ll give you a few more details in another post and show you those.

Now I want to show you some of the kids and families that we met and show you their creations.

We met a young girl – I think about 13 years old and her mother.  We were so excited for her to join us because last month she would only watch from a distance.  This month she sat at the table and we helped her make her very own card.  I did not get a picture of her this time but I hope to see her again next month.

Then we met Hunter – I believe he was 8 years old.  He was our high energy creative little guy for the evening.  He and his mom both stamped with us and Hunter talked and showed us his creativity.  If you read Hunter’s story and where he was just a few months ago you would be amazed at his progress!  Here is a link to his CaringBridge site – http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/hunterdenny

If you have a minute read his story, sign his guest book and send some prayers.  This is Hunter when we were at RMHC this week.

Hunter had fun with the stamps on his envelope he decided to stamp the fish and the cat chasing the fish and the dog chasing the cat.

I’m so glad we were able to provide a fun evening activity for Hunter and his mom.  She had fun stamping too!

Then we met Jessie (I think that is her name).  She was about 5 years old and finally made it over to us at the end of the evening.  She was in a wheel chair and is supposed to still be there when we come next month so we are hoping to see her again.

Hunter should be headed back home before we come back.  So we won’t get to see him again.  The cards that the kids didn’t make were put together by the rest of us and left for Cari the house manager.

If you would like to learn more about the Ronald McDonald house here is a link to the Atlanta site – http://www.armhc.org/aboutus.html We are volunteering at the Peachtree Dunwoody house.  If you are a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and would like to join us please contact me.  If you don’t live near me contact Stampin’ Up! to find the house near you and a group of demonstrators that you can join.  I can’t tell you how much I have enjoyed doing this once a month.  It is so fun to see the joy on their faces when they have made a card.  And they spend time figuring out who to send them too.  One of them this month was going as a thank you to the family that was caring for their dog while they were here at the RMH.  The families that stay here are not local – they come from other parts of Georgia and other states too.

That’s this months review of the Ronald McDonald House visit.  I’m going to try to include this each month that I go.

We have some players that are close – will there be a winner today??

Word Play Owl Card

Today’s card uses the Owl Punch – I just love that Owl punch! – and the Word Play stamp set.  I created another card earlier using the same to items and basically the same colors – you can see it here.  I needed another card using the Owl punch from Stampin’ Up! but didn’t want to use the same one so I came up with another one.  Here it is:

We made this one in my card clubs the last couple of weeks.  The colors are the Stampin’ Up! In Colors – Pear Pizzazz and Peach Parfait.

I wanted a matching envelope but since the card was basically all punched I wasn’t sure what to do to decorate the envelope.  I finally decided to use the grass from Inspired by Nature and then added the little butterfly from Charming – it gave it an outdoor look to go along with my owl.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • Card stock: Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip,Whisper White
  • Ink: Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait, Chocolate Chip
  • Stamp sets: Word Play, Inspired by Nature, Charming
  • In Color Patterns Pack Designer Series Paper
  • Owl Punch, 2-step Bird Punch, 1-3/4″ Circle Punch
  • Stampin’ Sponges, 2-way glue pen
