Aug 22, 2010 | Bingo, Cards, Stampin' Up! Convention, Thank You, Watercoloring |
This was my favorite card from the Make & Take class at the Stampin’ Up! Convention. For one it is one of my favorite new stamp sets called Just Believe. And it used a water coloring technique that makes it look like your a real artist! The stamp does all the work because it is such a nice image. Using Stampin’ Write Markers you color your image. Using a fine mist spritzer (like our Stampin’ Mist cleaner spritzer) – spritz the stamp with water and then stamp onto Watercolor Paper. I hold it on the paper for just a few seconds before lifting it. The water makes it look like a real watercolor painting.
We made this card in my hands-on class on Friday. It looks harder than it is and turns out just beautiful every time.
I also wanted to update you on a few Stampin’ Up! Products. First there are some new Digital Downloads available for your My Digital Studio Software. To order these visit my online store on my Stampin’ Up! website – CLICK HERE.

The Play Date Rub-Ons (Item #118760) on page 184 in the catalog are now available to order.
The Punch Caddy on page 200 in the catalog are not going to be available at all. I know I had them on my wish list and I was disappointed to here this announcement. Due to serious production and quality issues with the product Stampin’ Up! has decided not to offer this product at all. I’d much rather know that now that find out it is a bad product after selling it to someone.
Now it is time for Monika’s Blog Bingo! Does anyone have all the called pieces so far?
I am continuing with Round 1 of Monika’s Blog Bingo. Round 2 is full and I’m taking names for Round 3 right now which is close to being full too. See this POST for more details.
Here is piece #4 – the Owl image from the Cute by the Inch stamp set – hostess set- (stamped in Chocolate Chip).
I hope you are having a nice weekend!

Aug 21, 2010 | Big Shot, Bingo, Open House |
Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini catalogs are in the mail! I can’t wait for you to see it – some fun new stuff for the holidays. There are two fun new Textured Embossing Folders for the Big Shot. I had them both out at my open house last weekend and let everyone emboss napkins. Yep that is what everyone is doing – what a great idea – don’t you think? Some of the floral designs would be absolutely beautiful for a wedding. But look at these – for Halloween – a spider web.
I had to use orange napkins though – the grocery store didn’t have any black napkins. A fun idea for a halloween party.
And how about this one – a snowflake:
Pretty for the winter. I really love the embossing folders for the Big Shot. The Holiday Mini Catalog starts on September 1st so have your wish list ready to order. You’ll be able to order online through my website – CLICK HERE.

It’s BINGO TIME! Continuing with Round 1 of Monika’s Blog Bingo. Round 2 is full and I’m taking names for Round 3 right now. See this POST for more details.
Here is piece #3 – the little bird image from the Friends Fur-ever stamp set. (stamped in Pear Pizzazz).
Have a great day!

Aug 20, 2010 | Big Shot, Bingo, Cards, Designer Series Paper, Masculine, Stampin' Up! Convention |
This card was created by my Stampin’ Up! Convention Roommate Michele. Our whole room participated in a Shoebox Swap on Saturday night after convention.
I like the way she used the Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper and ran it through the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Folder. If you look at this package of paper it is feminine with lots of floral patterns. Michele used it here in a more masculine teen card.

On a personal note I just wanted to say that on Thursday we took my oldest son Kyle to college and moved him into his dorm. I’ll miss him but I’m excited for all the opportunities that are available to him in this new chapter of his life. He isn’t too far away from home – he will be in downtown Atlanta at Georgia Tech – less than an hour away (unless of course it is rush hour traffic).

It’s BINGO TIME! Continuing with Round 1 of Monika’s Blog Bingo. Round 2 is full and I’m taking names for Round 3 right now. See this POST for more details.
Here is piece #2 – the sunburst image from the Eastern Blooms stamp set (in Poppy Parade) – this image is very similar to the sunburst image from Baroque Motifs.
Have a great day!

Aug 19, 2010 | All in the Family, Bingo, Cards, Ronald McDonald House Charities |
Tuesday night a small group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators went to the Ronald McDonald House to stamp cards with the house guests. We go once a month and each of us take turns designing and preparing a card for everyone to make. This month Joyce designed the card.
This month the card featured the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set and the new 1/8″ ribbon. I asked if I could take pictures of everyone making their cards. The kids are always so proud of their creations. We get kids of all ages and sometimes parents too. Both the boys and the girls come stamp with us. Here are some pictures of us from Tuesday night.
This month Joyce, Jenn (the Stampin’ Up! team leader for this house), myself and a new volunteer, Linda, met at the house.

Cari Olson the House Manager at the Peachtree Dunwoody House took some time when we were done to show us a new video story about the Ronald McDonald House and one of the families that stays there. It is the story of Elsie – I hope you will watch it.
Ronald McDonald House Video Story
Elsie stays at the house we volunteer at and while I haven’t personally seen her we told Cari to call us and we would plan a special stamping day for her because she loves to do crafts. We only visit once a month but maybe with more Stampin’ Up! volunteers we can do this twice a month. If you’d like to volunteer with us let me know and I’ll pass your information onto Jenn – the Stampin’ Up! team leader for this house.
Here is a link to the website for the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House charities – CLICK HERE. Stampin’ Up! is a National Sponsor of the Ronald McDonald House charities. Stampin’ Up! donates $100,000 annually, each year they design an exclusive stamp set and a portion of the sales are donated, they donate items to houses in the cities where events are held, and they facilitate the program that allows demonstrators to volunteer at the houses by bringing stamping to the families.

It’s BINGO TIME! Today we are starting Round 1 of Monika’s Blog Bingo. The players have been finalized and all Bingo Cards were emailed out yesterday so we are ready to play. If you missed getting into Round 1 before it filled you can sign up for a future round – Round 2 is full and I’m taking names for Round 3 right now. See this POST for more details.
Here is piece #1 – the cat image from the All in the Family stamp set (in Peach Parfait).
Have a great day!

Aug 18, 2010 | Bingo, Cards, Masking, Open House, Stampin' Up! Convention, Techniques |
This little 3×3 card was one of the Make & Takes from our convention class. It uses a reverse masking technique. In our kit was a piece of card stock that had been cut with the Circles #2 die for the Big Shot. Using the negative piece (not the circles) we placed this over our card stock to create a mask on the outside edges of the card. Then using a Stampin’ Sponge add color to the inside of the circle. We also stamped the leaf image before removing the mask. Make sure your mask doesn’t move while you are doing the sponging and stamping – I have a little shadow on mine because I slipped just a bit.
The words were added after the mask was removed – I needed to scoot mine over just a bit so it wasn’t on top of my leaves. It’s not perfect but it’s still a cute card.
I used this card as one of the projects at my Open House for everyone to make. My oops was that I thought I had envelopes for the 3x3s but I was wrong – sorry about that.
BINGO UPDATE:
I have filled all the player slots for Round 1 and have started a list of players for Round 2 which is also filling quickly. I will be emailing Bingo Cards for the Round 1 players today, Wednesday. Aug 16, 2010 | Bingo, Holiday Mini Catalog 2010, In Colors, Open House |
I hope the answer to that question was YES!
Here is a sneak peek of a new stamp coming in the Holiday Mini Catalog called Bingo Card. And guess what it looks like. Yep a Bingo Card. So I decided to use it to make a Bingo game for my open house that I had this past weekend.

I stamped out 15 cards, cut them and put them on card stock. Then I got out lots of stamp sets and stamped images in the squares randomly to create my cards. I used the In-Colors and Chocolate Chip for my game. I also created the calling pieces and markers.
We had so much fun playing Bingo Saturday afternoon at my Open House that I thought it would be fun to play on my blog too. We also played at the workshop I had on Sunday afternoon. So are you ready to hear about Monika’s Blog Bingo?
So I thought about how I would do this and let’s hope it works out – I reserve the right to adjust the game if necessary.
First since I plan to mail a prize to the winner you need to live in the US (sorry if you don’t but the prizes are SU product in most cases).
Second: I created 15 cards so I’m going to have 15 people play in each round and I hope to do multiple rounds.
Third: You need to email me at [email protected] with Monika’s Blog Bingo in the subject line and tell me you want to play. I need your name and your mailing address (so if you win I can send you a prize).
Fourth: I will email you an image of your Bingo card – each card is unique and I will have them numbered so I know which one you have.
Fifth: After I have all 15 players I will post a Bingo Piece each day on my blog – so you have to keep coming back – it will likely be at the end of my regular post for the day – and if I don’t have a regular post it will just be by itself.
Sixth: I will post Bingo Pieces until someone has Bingo – you must have 5 in a row – across, down, diagonal – just like normal bingo and once you have Bingo You have to email me that you have – send the email to [email protected] – subject I have Bingo!. I will check your card against the pieces that have been played to make sure you have Bingo. And if per chance there is more than one on the same piece, I will pick the winner by the time stamp on the email – first one wins after verifying the Bingos.
Then I’ll mail the winner a prize!
Does all that make sense? Does it sound fun? Did I miss anything? I hope you’ll play along with me! Is everybody ready….
If it works well then I’ll do another round with 15 new players. I think it will be fun! Let’s play Blog Bingo!
BINGO UPDATE: I have 15 players for Round 1 and started a list for Round 2.
BINGO UPDATE 8/18/10: Round 1 is starting on 8/19 and I have filled a group for Round 2. I’m now taking names for Round 3.
