On My Mind – Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop

Hello my friends – I am back from the Stampin’ Up! Incentive trip to the Greek Isles.  I’m not quite caught up to my blog posts but I did manage to squeak in with this Paper Pumpkin project for the monthly A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop.  A blog hop filled with alternate ideas using contents from the monthly kit. This month our kit is – On My Mind. This kit coordinates with three suites from the Annual catalog!  So if you love the look of these cards (and I know I do) you can use the coordinating products to keep on creating once your kit supplies are gone.

I love that some of the Paper Pumpkin kits are now coordinating with the Annual Catalog.  This month’s kit had three card designs and they match with three suites – Woven Thread Suite, Garden Lane suite, and Come Sail Away suite.  Personally I loved the cards as is and the one with the sail boat will make a perfect birthday card for my brother in early August!

I struggled with what alternate idea I wanted to do.  There aren’t really left overs from the kit this month and I loved the cards the way they were and the envelopes.  I think I’m in love with the printed envelopes but I don’t want to tear them up either.  So its a struggle.  I finally decided that I needed some tags.  Every month I create tags to go on my customer orders that get picked up at my house.  I may have told you that before.  So I decided to take the focal element of each card and create a tag idea with it.  I added in pieces of designer series paper from the coordinating suites and a couple of other things to complete my tags.

On My Mind Tags

Here are four tags for each of the card ideas.  I mostly added card stock, the coordinating Designer Series Paper from the suite, and some punches.  The tags are similar to the main focal image on each card.

Supply List

The additional supplies that I added to complete this project were:

  • Card stock – Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Old Olive, Pool Party
  • Designer Series Paper – Woven Threads, Garden Lane, Come Sail Away
  • Punches – Everyday Label, Classic Label, Banner Triple Punch
  • Dies – Layering Circles, Stitched Shapes, Smooth Sailing
  • Linen Thread
  • Classic Ink – Crumb Cake

I’ll be sharing some tips and tricks in a Facebook Live on Monday, July 29 on my facebook page.  I’ll come back and update this post afterwards.

I hope you liked this alternate idea for the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.

In Color Designer Paper Stacks

We have new 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper Stacks.  There is a stack for each of the In Color collections, and then one stack for each of our four core color collection.  Remember the ever popular gingham checked paper from the Occasions catalog – well now you can get a gingham check in all 50 Stampin’ Up! colors because it is one of the new patterns in the paper stacks.  On these cards though I used the script words design.

This is a square card – cut an 8-1/2″ square and then score one side at 4-1/4″ – giving you a 4-1/4″ square card.  And just slip it into our regular medium envelope.  I added strips of the Designer Series paper in the five new in colors.  The Daisy Lane stamp set is the one I featured here – using both sizes of the daisies now that I have both punches.

See the little scallop edge under the greeting?  That is a half piece of the scallop trim ribbon and I found the easiest way to attach it is with a bit of Tear & Tape.

If you would like to see a video of this card watch my Facebook Live from June 17th – HERE.

Pretty Peacock & Seaside Spray cards

I have some more In Color themed cards for you today.  These two show the Seaside Spray and the Pretty Peacock colors.  Of the five new colors these two are my favorite.  And I’ve used the new Free as a Bird stamp set but without any of the birds.  You can see this card and some others featuring the 2019-2021 In Colors on my Facebook live video from June 17th – HERE.

I love the new little scallop ribbon that comes in our new In Colors.  On these cards I just attached it straight across my front layer.   I used both the small and large flower images from the Free as a Bird stamp set to create the background.  You can mount them both on one block and stamp at the same time – just turn the block as you go to make it more random.

Supply List

  • #149468 Free as a Bird Stamp set
  • #149701 2019-2021 In Color Cardstock Pack
  • #121043 Sahara Sand Cardstock
  • #100730 Whisper White Cardstock
  • #150083 Pretty Peacock classic ink
  • #150085 Seaside Spray classic ink
  • #149751 Pretty Peacock Scalloped Linen Trim
  • #149707 Seaside Spray Scalloped Linen Trim
  • #143717 Starburst punch
  • #133782 2″ Circle punch

A Little Smile – Paper Pumpkin Blog Hop

Hello my friends.  It’s time for our monthly A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop.  A blog hop filled with alternate ideas using contents from the monthly kit. This month our kit is called A Little Smile and its packed full of little cards to help you spread smiles and kindness.

The idea behind this kit is to spread smiles, a little love, and kindness.  You can make the kit as instructed to complete the 16 mini cards and then store them in the little box to take with you as you go about your day.  Then spread a little kindness around.

As soon as I heard about this kit and about spreading kindness it made me think of the Kindness Rocks project.  People in our area paint rocks and then leave them in public places like parks or in our town area where people walk around.  There are several area Facebook groups where people will post where they left the rocks and as people find them they post where they found them.  I’ve taken rocks to different states as I travel and left them to brighten someone’s day.  Last year I left several in Alaska when we were there for the Stampin’ Up! incentive trip.  So for this kit I decided to create my own stamped Kindness Rocks!

Kindness Rocks

I chose rocks that were fairly flat since I wanted to stamp on them. Clean them with some water and let them dry to begin with.  You’ll need a few basic painting supplies – some white acrylic paint, tiny paint brushes, a palette for mixing colors, tooth picks, a cup of water.  And then some stamping supplies. Stamps, ink, sponges, and scraps of window sheet.

Here is a little more info on what I did.  To color the white paint I used the ink refills – I mixed about 15 drops of ink in with the white paint and stirred really well with a toothpick.  I mixed up several colors – Crumb Cake, Coastal Cabana, Old Olive, and Soft Suede.

I used the sponges to pick up paint and dab it on the rocks.  The Coastal Cabana was the water and the Crumb Cake was the sand. Using the sponge left some bubbles, but I used a heat tool to help dry and the bubbles disappeared right away.

Because I wanted to be able to bend my stamps around the rock but not get my fingers in it I decided to use a piece of window sheet to mount my stamps on.  I could then stamp directly on to the rock and press the stamp where I needed.

I used this method for all of the stamping.  For the images I did go back over them with a fine tip brush and used the colored paint to fill them in a little bit more.

Supply List

You’ll need the A Little Smile Paper Pumpkin kit and these additional Stampin’ Up! supplies that I added to complete this project:

  • Ink Refills: Coastal Cabana, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede
  • Stamp sets: Sea of Textures, Waterfront
  • Ink Pads: Old Olive, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake
  • Window Sheets
  • Stampin’ Sponge
  • Heat tool

Here are a few more photos of the rocks:

Now where shall I hide them?  I’m going to let them dry another day or so before I put a sealer on them.  Then once I hide them outside they designs won’t wash away.  I hope you liked this alternate idea for the monthly Paper Pumpkin kit. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.
