The Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog will be starting soon. On September 1st to be exact. Yes it is time to prepare for the holidays but before we start looking at Christmas I wanted to take a quick peek at some of the Halloween products in the Holiday Catalog.
I am trying to start making some videos so that is what I have done for my peeks at this Holiday Catalog. I think I made 4 videos and I’ll share them over the next few days. The Holiday catalogs that were mailed out are starting to arrive in mailboxes now and I’ll be handing them out at my classes starting this week. Ordering won’t begin until Sept. 1st – so for now you just have to make a wish list!
I’m not totally comfortable doing the video thing so hopefully I’m not too boring. This one is just to give you a better look at some of the products – looking at the pages of the catalog doesn’t always give you the best impression.
I can’t show you the pages of the catalog yet – there are some more Halloween items – the ones in the video are the ones that I have purchased during the pre-order for demonstrators.
A few months back I signed up to walk in the It’s the Journey 2-Day Breast Cancer walk here in Georgia. The walk will be held in mid October in Atlanta. It’s a 2 day walk that is 30 miles long. I’ve been training to get my feet, legs and body ready to walk that far. Right now my longest walk has been 10.5 miles. Monday I’m planning to do an even longer walk. In addition to the actual walking I have to also raise some money. So last month I held a Pop of Pink class and $10 from every class fee I put in my walker fund. I was able to donate $150 to my fund and I’m now half way to my goal!
One of the projects from the class was this sweet little Box of Hugs. I thought it turned out so cute and would be a sweet gift for someone battling breast cancer or anything else. We filled each box with about 15 Hugs and on the bottom of each added a little circle of the Pop of Pink Designer Paper. Since the boxes are clear you can see the bottoms through the sides. Each box is wrapped with some Designer Paper and tied with Thick Baker’s Twine. On the top I added the die cut heart and the word hope. They are both from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits. You could use the same idea for a bridal shower and use the word Love instead of Hope. Or for a graduation and use Congrats. Lots of possibilities.
I hope you like this little project. If you wanted to donate to my walker fund you can visit my fundraising page here.
The other project was a set of cards in a little bag. Come back again to see that one.
Are you ready to get away from it all? Leave behind the family, the laundry, the cooking, the cleaning and come join us for a fun Stamp, Scrap & Create Retreat. Come party with us at Monika’s House October 21 – 23, 2016.
Arrive on Friday afternoon – come set up your craft space, bring an appetizer to share with everyone on Friday evening for our dinner. We will have games and prizes on Friday night. Make & Takes will be scheduled for Friday night and Saturday. All meals included on Saturday. Finish up on Sunday and pack up and head back home in the early afternoon. We have Make & Take projects planned as part of the retreat – and everyone will receive a Goody Bag with supplies and extras. And little surprises throughout the weekend!
Bring whatever creative projects you would like to work on. You will have table space set up for the whole weekend – so bring your scrap-booking, card making, Project Life, laptop for My Digital Studio, Paper Pumpkin kits, jewelry making, knitting – the choice is yours.
I have some space in my house if you want to spend the night here instead of going home or there is a hotel one exit south just a few minutes away. I will have three Queen beds upstairs, some sofa space, or we can put an air mattress on the floor. Or stay as late as you want in the evening – go sleep at home and come back in the morning!
I will send out a schedule and list of what you need to bring at the beginning of March. This time we are offering EARLY BIRD PRICING – paid in full by Aug 31 – $80.
Regular pricing – due by Sept 30 – $100.
All fees non-refundable after Sept 30. I will be ordering supplies and prizes Oct 1st.
Spots are LIMITED – I am only opening this event up to 12 people! So reserve your spot today!
The Moroccan Suite in the Stampin’ Up! catalog is artfully exotic. The suite includes a stamp set, Designer Paper, Washi Tape and coordinating ribbons. You can find it on pages 66-67 in the Annual Catalog. For today’s card I took another idea from the catalog samples and used that with some minor modifications to create a stunning card perfect for lots of occasions. I find that the Moroccan Designer Paper has a masculine feel to it so I can create cards that aren’t so girly.
I used Emerald Envy card stock for the base and stamped the large image from the stamp set in Emerald Envy ink for the background.
At the base is a strip of the designer paper and then its tied with the new Emerald Envy Baker’s Twine.
The sentiment is from the Suite Sayings stamp set – it was a carry over from the Occasions catalog and has an assortment of sayings in a variety of fonts. It is stamped in Delightful Dijon and then cut with the Tags & Labels Framelits.
To finish the card add a couple of the Enamel Dots – I used Emerald Envy for my card, but I think the gold or the Delightful Dijon dots would work too.
Enjoy the day and come back again for a visit.
Remember if you earned Bonus Days Coupons in July that you need to redeem them in August!
Quick & Easy cards are favorites for many people. I often look at ideas in the Stampin’ Up! catalog and then make a few changes to the colors and/or stamp set and ta-da I have a new quick & easy card. If you look throughout the catalog there are ideas marked “Quick & Easy” and some include You Can Make It supply lists so you know exactly what was used.
I found the Quick & Easy card on page 41 in the annual catalog. It however used a stamp set that I didn’t have. So I switched it for a different one and created this.
I kept the colors the same – Emerald Envy, Very Vanilla, Delightful Dijon, Early Espresso.
I used the same layout – but flipped it to be landscape instead of portrait.
I used the same washi tape – Moroccan Designer Washi Tape.
I used the same punch – Petite Petals Punch.
I even used the same technique on the flower – scrunch it up to break down the fibers in the card stock giving it some dimension.
I used a different stamp set. For my card I used the Rose Wonder stamp set.
And I left off the Bakers Twine.
What do you think? Can you use that card from the catalog and create another version for yourself? It’s Quick & Easy!
