Hummingbirds – Pretty Amazing

dream-a-littleI received this card as a swap at the Leadership Conference from Christina Crawford.  I wanted to share this card today because of the Hummingbird.  I was on my porch today and saw the first hummingbird of the season.  The feeder was put out right before we went out of town and it is right by my kitchen window so we get to watch them with a pretty good view.  I didn’t get a picture today, but here is one from last year.hummingbird It is a Ruby-Throated Hummingbird.  This is the smallest bird in Georgia and it can fly backwards!  I hope to get some good pictures this year.

Here is the supply list for Christina’s card:

  • Dream a Little (Level 3 Hostess set)
  • Basic Brown classic ink
  • card stock: Close to Cocoa, Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss and Whisper White
  • Trio Flower Punch
  • Rich Regals brads
  • Crafter’s Tool Kit

Well back to cleaning the house and getting ready for Easter Sunday and all our family coming in for lunch.  I think my final head count was 37.  And I finished making 15 Easter Bunny boxes.  I took a picture but didn’t download it yet – I’ll plan to do that for tomorrow.

If you live near me and want to come to my next class it is on April 17th  at 10:00 am and again at 7:00 pm.  The details are on my Stampin’ Up! website – www.monika.stampinup.net – and I sent out and email reminder to those that are on my email list.  We are making two projects – one is a box with cards  envelopes, a matching beaded pen and a bookmark and the other is a note card packet with three scalloped note cards and envelopes.  If you would like to come please RSVP by the 15th.

Have a great rest of the day!

So Tweet Scrapbook Page

so-tweet-left-pageThis is one of the scrapbook pages from my March scrapbook class.  It features the SO TWEET On Board Chipboard.  We colored the chipboard owl and branch using Craft ink and sponge daubers.  The large scallop edge is made with the 1″ circle punch.  Punch a bunch of 1″ circles and then attach them to the back of the card stock so that half of each circle is showing to form a large scallop egdge.  On the So Saffron background I stamped the image from the Good Friend stamp set in So Saffron classic ink.  so-tweet-right-page1

The chipboard bird is covered with Designer Series paper.  I lay my chipboard piece face down on the back side of the paper and trace with a pencil.  Then cut it out.  I use the Anywhere Glue Stick to adhere the paper to the chipboard.  This gives you some “wiggle” room to slide your paper into position exactly where you want it.  And I like to go back with a sanding block and sand the edges.  If there is alot of overlapping paper I trim it with my paper snips before sanding.  The eye, legs and beak were colored with the craft inks and a sponge dauber.  This little bird is singing “Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday!”.  The stamp is from the Stem Saying stamp set and works perfectly for a singing bird.

When we visited my parents this week we also celbrated my birthday.  I haven’t seen them or my brother and his family in over a month (before my birthday), so this was our first chance to get together.  I didn’t know my mom had a cake for me but she did and everyone sang happy birthday to me too.  I have some pictures and think they will be perfect on this page.  I need to get them printed soon and get them on here.

Please visit the other blog I created for the WowSrapbookKits that Wendy and I are doing.  Go to wowscrapbookkits.wordpress.com to get all the details.  There is also a permanent link on my Blog roll on the right sidebar.  I am making a list of questions that people have asked about the kits and I will post on that blog soon with the answers.

Have a Happy Scrappin’ Day!

Thoughts & Prayers

thoughts-prayersGreg needed a sympathy card for a co-worker last week and I made this card.  I got this card idea from the Stamper’s Showcase from another demonstrator.  I made a few minor changes from her original card but it is basically the same idea.

Ever since I saw this set in the new catalog I have been wanting to plan a class around it.  I have already had a couple of “emergency card kit” classes and I think this set would be ideal to do another version.  Sympathy and get well cards are usually needed on short notice and to have a stack of these ready to go will be helpful to many people.  I’m working on my ideas and planning my class as well as when to have it.  Once I decide on the date I’ll post it here, on my website and send it out in an email to those that are on my newsletter mailing list.

Our spring break is not as warm and sunny as we would like it to be.  It has been very windy and down in the 30s last night and tonight.  The weather is really wierd the sky in one direction is dark and stormy anbluebirdd in the other birght sunshine.   We are mostly staying inside – sleeping, reading, playing games.  I hope my birds are all doing well.  Here is another picture I took of the male bluebird last weekend.

I’m also working on making more of the Easter Bunny baskets from my last hands-on class.   I planning on 15 – one for each of the kids coming to my house on Easter Sunday.  We are going to have a big crowd of family and some family friends next weekend.  About 40 – 45 people!

Have a wonderful day!
