Gift Card Tins

Just a quick post today – gift-card-tins

This is another item I had at the Holiday Bazaar – I sold all that I had which wasn’t very many – so I guess I needed to make more.  These are the little tins.  I covered them with Designer Series Paper – this is the holiday paper from last year.  Added ribbon around the edge. Used a crop-a-die to punch holes to add a handle – so they look like a little purse.  Then added the decoration to the front – snowflakes with rhinestone brads and then the 5-petal flower punch for the stamp set (also retired).  I don’t remember where the idea came from – I first made these a couple of years ago – so it has been awhile that the idea has been floating around.

Stamp club tonight…..

Oh and if you ordered the DSP purse tutorial I should be sending the emails out tomorrow assuming no more unexpected things crop up.  I’m still resolving an issue from earlier in the week.  I have mixed emotions about the weather tomorrow – if it rains then I’ll have time to get things done at home.  But Ryan has a soccer game in the morning, a tennis match in the afternoon and Tyler has a band competition tomorrow too.  It is a busy day…..

Gotta go….

Build-a-Bear Tag Boxes

Hi everyone!  I wanted to share another project with you today using the Build-a-Bear product line.  And I wanted to let you know that my contest entry that I sent to Stampin’ Up! last month was a winner!  I got the email yesterday.  I took the little sleeping bag idea and turned it into a 3-d project by creating a kids Color-Match Game.  I’m not sure if I can show the project so I’ll wait on that for now.  It will be published in the December issue of Stampin’ Success Magazine – which is our demonstrator monthly magazine.  I’m having a phone interview next week – I’m excited and nervous too.  Anyway onto the project I’m sharing today.

Last weekend I participated in a Holiday Bazaar and this was one of the items that  I created to sell – it was one of the more popular items.  The idea came from one they showed us on stage at convention.  But the idea was just a little coloring kit and it was in a canvas bag.  I couldn’t find little canvas bags so I decided to use what I had here at home – card stock.  And when I went to the store to buy the little 8 packs of crayons – I discovered a 24 pack was only 25cents and the 8 pack was 3 time mores – so I bought the bigger boxes for less money.

BAB-tag-boxesThe box of crayons fits nicely in the Fancy Favor box Big Shot die so I cut those out of Old Olive card stock.  Assembled them and added a strip of card stock as a handle.  I attached the handle with brads.

My concept was a tag kit for kids.  I stamped the bears – Beary Best Friends- with various accessories – hat, balloon, flower, etc. on pieces of Whisper White card stock – I cut 2 sheet into 8 pieces each – so there were 16 tags for each box.  I added a greeting on each one using the matching set in the mini catalog – Beary Nice Wishes.  Punched a hole with the Crop-a-Dile and put them on a ring.  I tied a piece of ribbon on the ring.  The idea is that they can pick one that they need off of the ring – color it and then tie it onto a gift – they can add the to/from on the back and they’ll be set.

The front panel is stamped on the natural white card stock and water colored with the aquapainter and classic inks.  I layered each on a coordinating piece of card stock and put on the front of the box with dimensionals.

BAB-tag-box-sideI tied another piece of ribbon on each handle.  I thought they really turned out cute.  I plan to send one to my niece and nephew.  Too bad my kids have already outgrown the Build-a-Bears.  But I sure am having fun with them.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Have a Beary nice day!

Gift Tags

holiday-tagsOne of the items that I made to sell at the Holiday Bazaar were packs of gift tags.  I love making gift tags to go on all the gifts under our Christmas tree.  I pulled out a variety of stamp sets both new and retired, my Big Shot, and my punches and got busy.  They were quick and easy.  I packaged up sets of them in cello bags, tied them with gold or silver cord and tied on one of the felt snowflakes from last year.  Too bad we don’t have new snowflakes for this year.

Christmas-Punch-tagsFor some I used my Big Shot and the Two Tags die to cut the tag bases out.  I used Kraft card stock and then pulled the edges across my Whisper White Craft ink pad.  I really like the way this looks.  For this set – I used the folded tag from the die and then used the images from the Christmas Punch stamp set.  This is a Level 2 hostess set and all the image fit into one of our punches.  I was the first hostess set that I got.

Sweet-Season-tagsThe next set of tags uses the other tag on the Two Tags die – it has a scallop end on one side.  It layers nicely with the Scallop circle punch.  I used the snowflake image from the Sweet Seasons stamp set for this one.  It is stamped in Night of Navy on Whisper White card stock.  Punched out and adhered to the Kraft colored tag.  I also stamped the to/from on there.  These tags would be cute with a clear rhinestone brad in the center or each snowflake or even adding some dazzling diamonds glitter on them.

Another quick set for tags is the new Delightful Decorations stamp set paired with the Ornament Punch.  I stamped a whole sheet of Whisper White card stock with the images and then punched them all out.  I added some elastic cord to the top of each one and these were very quick to make.

Delightful-Decorations-tags One of them already has the to/from on the image and the others I just stamped it on the back.

Remember to stamp your image first then hole your punch upside down so you can see the image inside the punch.  Adjust the image to fit in the opening and then punch.  I always punch this way so I can see what I am doing.

Rain, rain go away, come again another day – like tomorrow is fine.  The county band exhibition is tonight and all the marching bands in our county will be performing their shows.  We need the rain to move out so they can get this done tonight.  Our band is going to competition on Saturday and this performance will give them some feedback from an outside person on where they need to improve.  Due to all the rain they have been short on practice time and still need to work on their closer.  I hope they get it done.  One last practice right after school today, then feed them, get into uniform, and head to the exhibition, get home late tonight —I guess homework will not get done or Tyler will be up late tonight.

Good Luck to the Etowah marching Eagles – have an awesome performance!

School Years Scrapbook Class

Kyle is my oldest son and this year he is a senior in high school!  I have always kept “stuff” for all three boys since they started school – I just didn’t always do a good job of keeping it organized. So much of it is in boxes, or drawers.  I started a year or two ago to try organizing it more so I could work on “School Years” Scrapbooks for each of them.  I have a box with folders for all three boys for each year of school.  As I came across stuff I started filing it in the appropriate folder.  But I never completed all the organizing of my stuff and now Kyle is a senior and I NEED to get this scrapbook done before he graduates.  I want to have it ready so when we have a graduation party everyone can look and see how he changed through the years and we can see what all he accomplished.  This would have been so good to keep up with along the way.  Now I’m not totally behind – I did work on a few years here and there – so I have a start and actually decided to create the same basic page for each of the boys – so all of them would have the same design for 1st grade – but not necessarily the same layout of pictures and stuff on the page.

So then a friend of mine asked me if I could help her create a scrapbook for her son who is also a senior.  I asked her what she wanted and it sounded very much like what I was planning to do.  LIGHTBULB moment!  I need to create a class and invite everyone to join me and we can all make our books together over the next few months.  It will keep me working and help everyone else at the same time.  I actually had someone ask me this same sort of thing last year – but it was right before graduation and there wasn’t time to do much – so we made her a little 6×6 album that just featured her daughter’s senior year.

Here is my plan –

SCHOOL YEARS ALBUM CLASS SERIES

In this series of classes you will create a scrapbook with pages from Kindergarten through Senior Year in High School.

For each school year your layout will incorporate a pocket to keep report cards or certificates.  We will be using all Stampin’ Up! products in these classes although we may use some retired stamp sets for some of our layouts.

This class will meet once a month from November 2009 through March 2010.  In April 2010 you will have a completed scrapbook ready to showcase your child at his/her graduation.

If you don’t have a child close to graduating you can still take this class and have pages ready to fill with pictures and important information as they complete their school years. (I wish I had been that prepared!)  You also have the option of completing only the classes that you need.

Here is an outline of the class:

October and throughout the series – gather photos, certificates, and information you may want to include in your scrapbook.  These items should cover the school years from Kindergarten through Senior Year.  I would suggest getting some folders and using those to help you separate everything.  Sign up for the classes you wish to take.  We won’t actually meet this month.

November 8, 2009 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm – we will meet and begin our scrapbook – working on the front page, Kindergarten and 1st Grade layouts.

December 13, 2009 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm – we will meet and work on 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, and 4th Grade layouts.

January 10, 2010 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm – we will meet and work on 5th Grade, 6th Grade and 7th Grade layouts.

February 7, 2010 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm – we will meet and work on 8th Grade, 9th Grade and 10th Grade layouts.

March 14, 2010 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm – we will meet and work on 11th Grade, 12th Grade and Graduation layouts.

April 18, 2010 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm – we will meet to finish up anything you need help with and show off our completed scrapbooks!

Class Fee: Each meeting Nov – Mar. is a $30 fee prepaid at least 2 weeks before the class.  There is no cost for April as we won’t be creating new pages.  You can choose which classes you need and don’t need to attend them all – some of you probably have some pages done already.  If you attend/pay for the full series – 5 classes Nov – Mar – you will receive a $20 gift certificate at the end of the series that can be used for any of my future classes.

You may additionally purchase a 12×12 linen album and page protectors from me – for $35 you will get a 12″ x 12″ linen ring album and 15 page protectors – color choices are Natural, Moss, Red, or Navy.  You will need to supply your own Snail Adhesive and refills at each class – I can order these for you also.  Also plan to bring paper snips.  All other consumable supplies and stamps, ink and tools I will provide at the class.

I’m looking forward to this and being able to showcase my child when he graduates high school in the spring.

Please email me to reserve your spot in this class – [email protected].
