I love the new Color Coach!

One of the items that Stampin’ Up! is renovating is the Color Coach – that would make sense since they are doing a complete Color Renovation.  I was so excited when I heard about the new Color Coach – it sounded so much better than the wheel we had before.  As a demonstrator Stampin’ Up! lets us pre-order a selection of products from the new catalog and guess what  – the Color Coach was one of them and I LOVE IT!!  It is 100 times better than what we had before.

I used it this weekend when I was making thank you gifts for my Opportunity Night event.  I decided to make tags for my cello bags that had little stamps inside for everyone.  And I wanted to use the new colors that are being added to the core colors.  So I pulled out the color coach to look at the color combination’s on the back.  Without even thinking about it I just used what SU suggested and I loved every one of them when I was done!

So here is my basket of Thank You gifts – everyone that came to my Opportunity Night got to pick one.

And here is a close up of each tag – I used the same design for each one and just changed the colors –

This one is Cajun Craze – part of the new Regals Collection

And this combo is Cajun Craze, Old Olive and Baja Breeze.

Next is Cherry Cobbler – also part of the new Regals Collection.

The combo for this one is Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight and Early Expresso.

This pretty new yellow is Daffodil Delight and it belongs in the Brights Collection.

The color combo is Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy and Old Olive.  This one is one of the Getting Started Collection combos.

Then we have Early Expresso a new darker brown that is in the Neutrals Collection.  A very simple combo of Early Expresso, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White.

This last one is Marina Mist which is a new blue in the Subtles Collection.

The color combo here was Marina Mist, Real Red and Old Olive.

The stamp sets I used for the tags are the Charming stamp set and Tiny Tags stamp sets – little images in these make perfect tags.  And the new larger scallop circle punch is awesome!  It is a great size and layers with our scallop circle punch that we already have.

I hope you like all these great color combos as much as I did.  There are lots more on the new color coach.  I can’t wait to play some more with the color coach and the combos.

Thanks for visiting today.  I’ll be posting the rest of my Artisan Award project entries this week – I think I have one of each type left – a card, a scrapbook page and a 3D.

New Catalog Sneak Peek

I have my new catalog and some of my sneak peek order and I finally played today.  I wanted two cards for my Opportunity Night event.  For the first one I decided to use the Stamping 411 sketch as the layout for my card.  I used the new set Friends Never Fade along with the coordinating Designer Series paper Greenhouse Gala.

The card base is Pumpkin Pie and stamped with one of the flower images in the set.  The Greenhouse Gala Designer Series paper is the lowest layer and I used the Scallop Trim Border (remember that one from Sale-A-Bration- it will be back in the new catalog!) to punch the top edge.  There are some pretty papers in this pack – this piece has the colors Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzaz and Pumpkin Pie in the design.

I added a strip of Pear Pizzaz across the card and then a shorter strip of Chocolate Chip which has a piece of the new 1/8″ Tafetta ribbon in Daffodil Delight wrapped around it.  The Friends image was stamped in Pumpkin Pie on Whisper White card stock and cut out then layered on a piece of Chocolate Chip.  I added a Chocolate Chip designer button that has a piece of the Daffodil ribbon pulled through and tied in a knot.  The ribbon is skinny enough to get it through the button holes!

I used the measurements from the Stamping 411 site for this sketch.  Everyone that came to my Opportunity Night got to make one.  Thanks for stopping by!

Graduation Gift Ensemble

I don’t think that I shared this yet.  A friend of mine wanted me to make a Simply Adorned charm as a graduation gift for someone.  She wanted the monogram on one side – Click HERE to see my original – and on the other side she wanted an owl.  Since it was a graduation gift I made a card to go with it and then decorated the box to match.

The card is the same as one I made earlier but this one is in the school colors of the gift recipient.  The Simply Adorned box was decorated with a belly band in the same colors and the little graduation owl from the Go Graduate stamp set.  This cute stamp set is in the Stampin’ Up! Summer Mini Catalog and also available as a My Digital Studio Download. Digital downloads can be ordered online through my Stampin’ Up! store on my website – www.monika.stampinup.net.

For her Simply Adorned charm the monogram side is black & white just like the one I had made for myself but her initial is “K”.  I didn’t get a close up picture of that side.  On the back side she wanted an owl –

I used the Owl from Forest Friends for this one.  And the leaves are the Little Leaves Sizzlit Die for the Big Shot.

If you want to see more ideas for the Simply Adorned charms I have a bunch.  Just click the Simply Adorned category on my right-hand side bar and it will pull up all the posts I have that are related.

Have a great day!

Almost Artisan – 3D project 1

I’m back with another project that I submitted for the Stampin’ Up! Artisan Award Contest.  This is one of the two 3D projects that I created.

I actually made this box originally as a project for Create with Connie & Julie and it was a birthday theme – click here to see that one.  I recreated it for the contest and made a new baby theme.  One of my friends, Jenn, said she thought the box would be perfect for a baby gift and I agree.  I needed something to go inside so I bought cloth diapers and cut Build-a-Bears with pajamas on them and put those on the diapers and added the ribbon trim.  I thought they would be cute burp cloths.

The box has 6 burp cloths inside – 3 in So Saffron and 3 in Old Olive.  I rolled them up and tied them with the Striped Ribbon.

The box is made from the Fancy Favor box – actually two of them.  On each side of the box I have two Build-a-Bears and they are all “holding hands” all the way around the box.  I made a boy and a girl on each side.  I added the animals in between.  The paper is the Tall Tales Designer Series paper.

I was really happy with the little hanging tag once I figured out what I wanted to do.  The giraffe is cute with the Rock-N-Roll technique – inked in So Saffron and rolled in Chocolate Chip. The tag is two sided since you could see both sides of the project and I didn’t want an “ugly” side.  So the back of each animal is colored to match the front.  You can just barely see the back of the other giraffe – it is So Saffron.

I hope you like it.  It was fun to make.  Although I don’t see myself making any more little bear burp cloths.  The material of those cloth diapers was just hard to work with because the edges were pretty thin.  Oh well.  All in all a cute project.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Hello Bug Card

This was a fun card that I created for my Stamper’s Club meeting last Friday.  I wanted to use a retiring stamp set and some of the retiring colors and this was what I came up with –

I used the Level 1 Hostess set called Love Bug.  The caterpillar is stamped with Black StazOn ink and colored with Stampin’ Write markers.  I used Green Galore, Pixie Pink, and Summer Sun which are all retiring colors and also Tempting Turquoise which is staying.

Did you notice the background?  Are you looking for the stamp that created that?   Wondering what it might be….. It was another midnight discovery.  I had the card together and decided the back ground was just to plain.  Looking at the little caterpillar I noticed the open circles and thought I wonder if I have a stamp like that – I couldn’t think of one but I did have my Stampin’ Write markers sitting next to me.  And guess what the cap of the marker is?  An open round circle!  Yep – I inked up the cap and used it to stamp my background!  How is that for creative thinking?  Or maybe just midnight madness…..

Another fun element on this card is that the new clear bitty buttons fit perfectly on those little circle! Here is a close up view – I used a mini glue dot to attach a few to give my caterpillar some dimension.  There are two little brads on his antenna.   This card idea started with a card from Heather Summers – i changed the colors, the background and the buttons and added the little popped up bug.  I think she also had ribbon on hers and I left that off.

It turned out to be a fun happy summer looking card!  I normally to make such bright things but the result sure is happy.  Have a happy day!
