Your’e Turning 8 Project Life page

Back in May as I was preparing for my Stamp, Scrap & Create Retreat I wanted to make a Project Life page using pieces of the Hooray It’s Your Day Card Kit from the Occasions catalog.  About the same time was a challenge from the PLxSU Trio Challenge Facebook Group to focus on the cards and create a PL card (or cards).  It was the perfect challenge for what I was trying to do.  I used the pieces, parts, techniques, and layouts from the card kit to create the PL cards that I used in my page.

PL-page-1For the title I used one of the cards that had the embossed pattern on it – I spritzed the ink – Daffodil Delight and Wild Wasabi.  Because our cards are only 5-1/4″ long it was a bit too short for my 4×6 pocket so I added an extra piece of Daffodil Delight card stock and put some of the washi tape from the kit over the seam.  Here is a closer look:

pl-page-4For the second card – the one on the left side I used the stencil (or mask whatever you might want to call it) to get the “sunshine” background.  The rest was all from the kit and was exactly like the card.  Here is a closer look:

pl-page-3I love using those masks and can’t wait to get the new ones from the new catalog.  And if you want more balloons we have the balloon framelits that you can use to cut more of those.  I used the little file folder card and cut a piece for one pocket – it will end up with some journaling on it and the rest of the card was used on the last pocket along with all the little word window pieces and the clip.  Here is another look:

pl-page-2I had fun with the Project Life Layout – it’s my mini me – my niece at her birthday party.

Tap, Tap, Tap

Are you in need of another masculine card this month – maybe for Father’s Day or a birthday.  I created this card for a class I had this week – change up the words for the occasion you need.

tap-tap-tapI used the Tap, Tap, Tap and Gorgeous Grunge stamp sets.  Early Espresso and Crumb Cake are the main colors.  The typewriter is stamped on one of the Project Life Grid Cards.  It was more white than I wanted it to be so I stamped it and sponged it with Crumb Cake until it was toned down quite a bit.

Other ideas for this card were to use as a Retirement card – since someone retiring would know what the typewrite was.  I never thought about the fact that our kids may not even know!  I should ask my boys if they know what it is.  Sometimes its hard to imagine how things have changed since we were kids and how some things don’t even exist anymore!  And all the things we have now that have been invented since we were born!

Happy Birthday Cupcake!

I wanted to share with you another little treat that I gave to all by stampers at the Stamp, Scrap & Create Retreat earlier this month.  It was a birthday theme so everything was birthday related.  And cupcakes are the perfect little birthday treat and all dressed up Stampin’ Up! style makes them even better!

cupcake-birthdayI baked the cupcakes in a jar!  I posted a cupcake in a jar a couple of weeks ago – those were when I was practicing to see if I could bake them in the jar and have them turn out.  I add frosting, sprinkles and little edible flower decorations on the inside.  I forgot to take a picture with the jar open.  Here is a closer look at the front.

cupcake-frontI made a banner using the Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series paper (in the Occasions catalog) and the Petite Pennants Builder Punch (on the Retirement list and on sale).  I strung the banners on some Bermuda Bay Baker’s Twine.  I tied that around the jar with a knot and then added some of the Calypso Coral Pom Pom trim (already sold out – so sad) plus a candle and tucked a little wooden spoon behind.  Then tied a bow with the twine.

cupcake-topA closer look at the top you can see more Birthday Bash Designer Paper and then I stamped the Sketched Birthday stamp set (on the retired list).  I used Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay and my punches.

Everyone enjoyed their little birthday treats at the retreat.  It was a really fun weekend and I can’t wait to do it again.
