Ornament Keepsakes Card

This card idea came from a presentation at convention (I think it was Bonnie’s).

She was showing us the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and matching Framelits in the Holiday Catalog.  On this particular card she used mulitple pieces from the set and showed us how to stamp them and set it up so we could cut everything with one pass through the Big Shot.

When you are at convention (or other events) they show what the person is doing by putting it up on a  screen and if you want a picture of it you have to be fast before they change it or they move on to something else.  So needless to say the pictures aren’t usually the greatest and so looking back at them later I have to remember why did I want a picture of that.  So while this isn’t the greatest picture it does show you what I’m talking about for setting up this card.  You want a strip of card stock that you are going to stamp all the images on and glue the small piece of Designer Series paper on one end.  Then layout out all the framelits and cut everything.

The circle is punched out with a circle punch – I used a 1″ punch and a different stamp than what Bonnie used.  And my card is similar but not exactly the same.  I wanted to also show the piercing templates – so there is piercing around the card (but not through the greeting) and also around the designer paper ornament.

This month you can get the Festive Piercing Template pack (which includes the template that matches these ornaments) if you purchase the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set (or stamp/framelit bundle) plus the Candlelight Christmas Designer Series paper.  More information is on my website – www.monika.stampinup.net.

Have a great day!

Mr. Bones – Digital Punch Art

Earlier this week I was playing around in  My Digital Studio.  I wanted to make a creation for this weeks challenge on MyDigitalStudio.net – the challenge was to create something with a Halloween theme.   I ended up playing around with digital punch art.  Now I don’t think creating digital punch art is any faster than real punch art.  But the next 20 or 30 copies of the same creation will be 100 times easier!! And fortunately with the new Crop feature in MDS2 it is sooo much better than it was before.  So I made a Mr. Bones using digital punch art –

But then I really wanted to get him out of the computer.  I saved my file as a .jpg and then printed on my home computer – I printed 4 to a piece of card stock and printed it on Very Vanilla card stock.   I let him sit on my table for a couple of days before deciding what to do with him.  Finally he turned into a hybrid card – pretty simple really – cut out the layer – added it to a Crumb Cake card base, added some Crumb Cake Tulle and a real punch art bone!  Here is the hybrid card –

What do you think?  I think he is kind-of fun!  Now head on over to mydigitalstudio.net – look in the samples under Halloween and go LIKE my card – each week Stampin’ Up! picks a winner of the challenge – let’s see if Mr. Bones can win this week!

Mummy Candy for you

Are you still getting ready for Halloween?  I finally bought a pumpkin yesterday but I haven’t put out any Halloween decorations yet.  But I have been coming up with different Halloween treat ideas and I have another one for you today.  It’s based on a sketch for this weeks Create with Connie & Mary Thursday challenge.

Here is what the sketch looks like –

I guess it looks like it could be a card but it’s not!  It’s actually a slip cover for a box of mummy candy that I found at the store.

It just slips around the box.  I just happened to have a piece of the Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series paper that was exactly the same height as the box of candy.  I wrapped the paper around it and trimmed the extra and glue the ends together to form the slip cover.  “Boooo” is stamped directly on the designer paper.  I cut a strip of Tangerine Tango card stock and embossed it with the square lattice embossing folder – glued it diagonally to the front of the box and trimmed it against the box.  I used a leftover tag from the Googly Treat Kit and stamped it with the mummy image.  I sponged the tag with Crumb Cake to tone down the white since my designer paper had Very Vanilla in it.  I also watercolored the mummy to give him some dimension.  I tied some Basic Black ribbon around the box and through the tag.   Now to decide who will get this mummy treat…..

 Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • Stamps:  Googly Ghouls
  • Ink: JetBlack StazOn, Crumb Cake
  • Card Stock: Tangerine Tango
  • Accessories: Big Shot die-cut machine, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit, Stampin’ Sponge, Aqua-painter, Basic Black 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon, Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series paper

Visit Create with Connie & Mary and submit your creation for this weeks challenge – each week 3 top creations are selected.  Each challenge is open for a week.   Is this your week to be one of the top picks?  Do you think you can use this sketch for something other than a card?

Petite Pocket Treat Tutorial

Finally I have the tutorial ready for my on stage presentation at the Stampin’ Up! Chattanooga Regional.  I didn’t mean for it to take so long.  But with lots going on and trouble with our internet connection for the last week it just didn’t happen any sooner.  But I have it ready now and you still have time to make the Halloween version or try one of the other versions.

Here is another picture of my project in case you forgot because it has been so long –
