Are you still getting ready for Halloween? I finally bought a pumpkin yesterday but I haven’t put out any Halloween decorations yet. But I have been coming up with different Halloween treat ideas and I have another one for you today. It’s based on a sketch for this weeks Create with Connie & Mary Thursday challenge.
Here is what the sketch looks like –
I guess it looks like it could be a card but it’s not! It’s actually a slip cover for a box of mummy candy that I found at the store.
It just slips around the box. I just happened to have a piece of the Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series paper that was exactly the same height as the box of candy. I wrapped the paper around it and trimmed the extra and glue the ends together to form the slip cover. “Boooo” is stamped directly on the designer paper. I cut a strip of Tangerine Tango card stock and embossed it with the square lattice embossing folder – glued it diagonally to the front of the box and trimmed it against the box. I used a leftover tag from the Googly Treat Kit and stamped it with the mummy image. I sponged the tag with Crumb Cake to tone down the white since my designer paper had Very Vanilla in it. I also watercolored the mummy to give him some dimension. I tied some Basic Black ribbon around the box and through the tag. Now to decide who will get this mummy treat…..

So clever!! I love how the diagonal lines in the designer paper work so well for the sketch! And I love this little mummy guy!
This is the perfect kit to use to decorate something for Halloween. The ribbon really ties things up perfectly!
Well done! I wish I would have thought of using diagonal paper. Maybe it wouldn’t have been such a challenge for me – haha! Just an adorable candy treat for and little ghost or gobblin!
Perfect disguise for some fun Halloween candy! Cute!
Wow! You’ve taken the diagonal lines to a whole new level! What a fun way to dress up some treats!
I love your MDS designed blog and it’s a lot of fun and so is this card!
This is SO fun…love how you used the diagonal print to your advantage! Fun project, Monika!
