My Digital Studio + Digital Scrapbook Day = Free, Fifty and Fun

This week Stampin’ Up! is celebrating Digital Scrapbook Day – yep one day wasn’t enough so we are celebrating all week.  You can get free downloads, 50% off Digital kits and have fun creating with My Digital Studio 2!  Monday morning I downloaded my three free downloads – A Split Second Designer Template, Days in December Kit, and Enjoying Everything Kit.

I started right away and made a couple of creations using the A Split Second Designer Template –

This is basically the template with a few changes.  I added an extra photo box with a frame and then matched the little elements from the left page.  I added more journaling lines – but didn’t need the full block so I cropped it (great new feature!).  I changed my title and used the coloring feature to make it two colors (LOVE that new feature!).  And I changed the background on the right page.  I added all my pictures – it was done very quickly.

But then I wanted to use the fun elements from this download for something else so I made this

The chevron background paper reminded me of our convention bags we got this past year.  Cindy was so excited to get this bag.  I recolored the paper for this page using the Summer Starfruit.  Add some frames around my picture and then some flags behind it.  A little journaling and a title and done!

You can get the A Split Second Designer Template free this week.  Plus the other two.  If you don’t have My Digital Studio 2 – you can download the trial version and use it free for 30 days.  Or you can use the elements in this download in other applications too.  To get your go to my online store – www.monika.stampinup.net – and if you live local to me come join Cindy and I at the Panera Bread in Towne Lake tonight – Tuesday at 6:30 – we’ll be having a Digi Crop and playing with My Digital Studio2.  See you there!

Butterfly Creation

Are you ready for a butterfly creation today?  Well I have one all ready for this weeks Create with Connie & Mary Thursday challenge!  This week is a color challenge – Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade.  Actually I could probably use those same colors and make something for this weeks Neon challenge on My Digital Studio.net – but I probably won’t have time to get it done before the deadline so forget that.  Ok – here is this fun card —

It’s really bright and has more of a summer feel to it.  I know that makes it out of season – but that’s ok.  The idea/inspiration from this card came from a new blog that I started following – it is a demonstrator in Germany – her name is Jenni – and her blog is written in German.  So I have to dig deep into my memory bank and try to remember some German so I can figure out what she is saying.  Maybe I’ll get a few words here and there….. anyway she has some really pretty creations and one was similar to this card with the butterflies.  So I used that idea along with this weeks colors for the challenge –

 Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • Stamps:  French Foliage, Petite Pairs
  • Ink: Island Indigo, and Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade Markers
  • Card Stock: Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight, Vellum
  • Accessories: Big Shot die-cut machine, Finishing Touches Edgelits, White Bakers Twine, Elegant Butterfly punch, Corner Rounder punch, Basic Rhinestone jewels

Visit Create with Connie & Mary and submit your creation for this weeks challenge – each week 3 top creations are selected.  I hope you will join us this week – every week I find some great ideas and I love to see all the different interpretations of each challenge.

And guess what Connie & Mary just started – a new online mini class that is all about cards – and looks like it is going to be great!  There are already some sneak peeks on the main site but if you want to see everything you have to join the class!  Here are some of the details for you –

The cutest Santa tag!

I found the cutest ever Santa Tag idea on Pinterest.  At least I think it was on Pinterest.  But evidently I didn’t actually pin it so when I went back to see who created it I couldn’t find it!  If you happen to know who it is let me know and I’ll update my post.  In any case it fit perfectly in my Ornament Keepsakes Bundle class – I wanted to showcase some different ways to use the items in this bundle that is featured in the front of the Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog.  Something besides stamp an image, cut it out and put it on a card.  It was a really fun class and I think I was able to show everyone the many possibilities that there are with the bundle items.   Are you ready to see it?

Isn’t he so cute!  The girls wanted to know where was Mrs. Claus and the reindeer – so maybe, just maybe I’ll have to come up with a whole set – that really would be cute, wouldn’t it!   Here is the inside –

This uses one of the Holiday Ornaments Framelits  – its the big one that looks like a light bulb.  So this tag reminds me of the lightbulb ornaments that have been around for years.  I folded a piece of Whisper White card stock and cut it so that the top fold did not cut through so it could be a tag that opened up.  I don’t think the one I saw did that but I’m not sure.

Then cut an extra white piece and emboss the tip to create the Santa beard.  You could alternately just emboss the front part of the tag without adding the extra layer.  But I also used it as a guide for the mustache and to hide any over sponging that might have occurred on the face.

Cut a Cherry Cobbler Ornament to make Santa’s hat – punch the tip off using the Decorative Label punch.  I don’t know for sure if the original creator used that one but that is what it looked like.

Add a little tuft of hair which is the tip of the large blossom from the Build a Blossom punch.  Another thought I had was to just add some white Baker’s Twine for hair – but maybe that would be too bulky – I may try in and see.

The mustache is two layers – the larger part is the wing from the two-step Bird punch.  the smaller part is the small petal from the Build a Blossom punch.  And then a shiny red nose punched from Red Glimmer paper.  Oh and by the way sponge the face with Pink Pirouette ink (or another light ink color).

Add some Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine for a hanger.  Super cute – don’t you think!

Have a fun day – be back tomorrow for this week’s Create with Connie & Mary challenge.  I really like the card I created and I can’t wait to show you!
