Gold is a hot trend right now and this card pairs up a lot of gold elements with the Language of Love to create a Valentine’s or even a Wedding card.
I adapted an idea I found on Pinterest. Here are the elements on my card – some are the same as the one I found and some are different.
Very Vanilla card base
Very Vanilla layer – attach two strips of gold washi tape from the Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape – a TIP for you here – line up the card stock on your Grid Paper first and then use the lines as a guide to get the Washi Tape straight across your card stock
Cut the XOXO from Gold Foil Sheet using the Circle Card Thinlits Die collection
Cut a large heart out of Very Vanilla card stock using the Scallop Heart Embosslit (well I thought that was still current but I can’t seem to find it online in the store)
Stamp the strip of hearts from the Language of Love stamp set using the GOLD Encore ink. Punch out each heart with the small heart punch.
Create a double bow with Gold Baker’s Twine – I used a little magic bow maker that I found on Pinterest – I made a few so that I’d have them to use in class. I need to get a picture of it and share it with you later.
Here is another view so you can hopefully see the layering. All the hearts are attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals as well as the layer on top of the base. The bow is attached with a mini glue dot. And I actually used the liquid glue for the foil.
Have a great day! I’m writing this early in case we get a lot of ice and lose power over the next couple of days.
The weather has been crazy here and we keep having to cancel our regular MDS Digi Crop nites that we have at the local Panera. Today I thought – why do we do this as a virtual crop – everyone will be on their computers anyway – I’ll just create a Facebook group and we’ll have our own Virtual Crop. I sent Cindy a message and she thought it was a great idea! I got everything set up and we invited all our MDS girls and we had a blast creating with MDS all from the comfort of our home!
We had 2 challenges – Cindy came up with one and created her sample and I came up with the other and created my sample. Here is mine – a very basic page
The challenge was to use one of the photo only templates that are in the Designer Template section. And find a winter font, download, install and use it on your page. I found a site with 10 free winter fonts that I pinned on my scrapbook board and shared with everyone.
Here is a look at where you find the photo only layouts in My Digital Studio –
Mine was from the 12×1 Photo Only – round corners template. And I used two winter fonts – one was called Snow Dream and the other Angelic Serif.
To build the page this is what I did:
started with the photo template
I added a background paper.
Filled in my photos – I did add a drop shadow and mat.
Added the title.
And then added a flag punch and a text box for the date.
We had so much fun that we are going to do it again. Now to figure out when.
This page has pictures from our Snowjam week in January. Well guess what we are in the midst of another winter weather situation. We had one storm come through this morning with snow and freezing rain. Now another one is starting (this is the BIG one) bringing freezing rain, snow, sleet, ice. They are expecting lots of ice which can cause the power to go out as trees and lines fall with the weight of the ice. We shall see what happens – they are telling us to prepare to be home for several days.
Come back and visit me again. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think about the virtual mds crop. Would you be interested in participating? Since it is virtual it wouldn’t matter where you lived.
It’s another Tuesday here in Georgia and school is out! This is not normal for us! Maybe they get 2 or 3 days out of school each year. Perhaps once maybe twice have they had more than that since Kyle started school (he is 22 now)! And this year it seems they have missed a ton – I think we are on day 6 or 7 – and they are out tomorrow and possibly on Thursday. It’s Ryan’s senior year and it seems he is hardly been to school the last few months. And guess what – next week they have Winter Break! Are you kidding – somehow the snow days and the breaks need to line up better.
Today is a little sad for me – Kyle is on his way to San Francisco right now – it’s the first day of the next chapter in his life. He will be staying in his own apartment tonight and starting his first real job next week. Is he really an adult now?
Here is what we have going on this week. – SHOP HERE.

Valentine’s Day is coming this week. For years this has been a family event for us – we have a special dinner and a scavenger hunt for the boys. Well this year we are doing that tonight – having our Valentine’s Dinner. Why so early – well Kyle is moving to California tomorrow morning – it will be our last night all together. I guess is works out with a special dinner.
I have a little valentine to share with you today using the Banner Blast stamp wet from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.
I love this cute little card. This was an idea that Shelli shared on stage at the Stampin’ up! Leadership conference. Her version was a birthday card – using the flower image and hi banner instead. Here are the details of this card.
Crumb Cake base
Banner Blast stamp set (Sale-A-Bration free option)
stamp and punch the banner pieces – attach them to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals
Linen Thread – tie around the card front – tuck one strand under the top edge of the banners
cut out the little heart by hand – add a tiny rhinestone
Express Yourself stamp set (Hostess set in annual catalog)
Really an easy card when you have the banner punch – much quicker than cutting out the banners by hands.
I live in Georgia and yes we have another winter storm coming – actually they say 2 back to back. Our county is already under a warning and has a state of emergency – although nothing has happened yet. I went to the grocery store this morning and the gas station. Both were packed with people. The eggs were gone, bananas gone, I got the last pack of strawberries (they happened to be the long stemmed ones – so we’ll have chocolate covered strawberries for dessert tonight). And lobster tales were $5 each! So I’m planning to have the boys do some minute to win it games tonight after we have our Lobster dinner. I need to set the table and get some other things done.
Oh and with the storm coming in I’m going to go ahead and drive Kyle to Atlanta tonight after dinner and let him stay with a friend. Then he can ride Marta to the airport. It is likely we will have ice here by morning and then snow. So one less night of having Kyle at home – but it will be safer that way. Tomorrow he will start a new chapter of his life in California.
Yay! Stampin’ Up! has their own Texture Boutique Embossing Machine!
Remember last year we had it for a brief period of time – I think it sold out in 2 or 3 days! It was popular and I love mine. I use it almost exclusively for embossing in my craft room and use it often it my classes too. For me sometimes the Big Shot gives a little too much pressure and I have to adjust my tabs and shims but the Boutique seems to be just right every time.
So I created this little card based on the video that SU released on the machine. I’ll attach the video for you too. In the video Brian uses this idea on a little treat bag and I just adapted it to a card.
For my card I used the following things:
Baked Brown Sugar card base
Whisper White layer
Pistachio Pudding, Coastal Cabana, Baked Brown Sugar strips for embossing
Arrows Textured Embossing Folder
Texture Boutique Embossing Machine
Perfect Pennants stamp set and Banner Framelits Dies (available as a bundle)
Tangerine Tango ink
Retro Fresh Washi Tape
Whisper White Baker’s Twine
Here is the video:
The Texture Boutique is available in my online store – SHOP HERE.
Thanks for stopping by today. Enjoy the weekend. I have lots of stamping going on. Stamper’s Club Friday night and Saturday morning. And then a team meeting on Saturday night. I can’t wait to spend time with everyone.
