Feb 5, 2014 | Big Shot, Cards, Thinlits, Valentine's Day |
Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching and if you haven’t already you better get busy on some Valentine cards. Here is one idea for you today.

Let’s see how this card came together –
- Card base is Crushed Curry
- Whisper White cut with the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die
- Strip of Basic Black card stock
- Strip of Eastern Elegance Designer Series paper (the Crushed Curry pattern)
- the focal element is a stamp from the Crazy, Mixed-up Love stamp set (it is a fun set for Valentine’s day). I used Stampin’ Write Markers – Basic Black for the Bee and Crushed Curry for “mine”, color the stamp with the markers, huff on it and then stamp it on Whisper White card stock. Punch it out with the circle punch.

- Use the Artisan Label Punch to create the Crushed Curry layer.
- Then punch 2 Artisan Label punches from Basic Black card stock – cut each one in half in opposite directions. Then glue each piece behind the Crushed Curry layer as a mat. You can’t even tell it’s 4 separate pieces! It just looks like a larger version of the punch.
- Punch a tiny heart from Real Red using the Two-Step Owl punch and glue it inside the wings of the bee.
- And a final touch I did dot the eye with the Crushed Curry marker – you can see it in the close up photo.
One more look at the whole card –
Will you Be Mine?

Feb 3, 2014 | Big Shot, Birthday, Cards, Ronald McDonald House Charities |
The Tag It stamp set is the annual Ronald McDonald House Charity stamp set from Stampin’ Up! Part of the sales from each set go to Ronald McDonald House. We have a group that goes to our local house and stamps with the guests that are staying there. I will be going tonight with my friend Leishman.
I thought I would share this cute card that I had at my Card Maker’s class this week that uses the Tag It stamp set.

This one is a birthday card that I actually “recycled” from parts for a Christmas card – you can see it HERE on my FB page. Hopefully that link works :).
Here are the supplies that I used:
- Crumb Cake card base
- Season of Style Designer Paper Stack (from the Holiday catalog)
- Cherry Cobbler card stock & Scallop Edge Border Punch
- Silver Glitter Paper
- Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine
- Tag It stamp set
- Whisper White card stock
- Stampin’ Write Markers – Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Baked Brown Sugar
- Chalk Talk Framelits (they coordinate with the stamp set!)
I used the Stampin’ Write Markers to color the stamp image so that I could make it multiple colors. Do all of the coloring, then huff on the stamp and stamp it on your card stock
I’ll try to take some pictures tonight when we go to the Ronald McDonald house so I can post them to my blog.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Jan 31, 2014 | Cards, sympathy, Watercoloring |
Are you ready for Spring? I am!
In a normal winter I think we have a handful of days that we get below freezing, let alone in the teens or lower. It seems like this winter that has been the norm. What is up with this weather? I’m afraid all my plants are going to be frozen and dead I guess I’ll find out in a few months. I did notice the Bluebirds are starting to house hunt. They have been going in and out of the bird houses trying to choose the one they want this year. Normally they always take the same one but we shall see what they decide on this year. I’d like to put a little sign on each – Welcome Blue Birds, Welcome Chick-a-dees, Welcome Titmouse – and then they would know which house is theirs – but I don’t think they would care.
Anyway this little card idea that I found on Pinterest (by Claire Daly) has a beautiful bird image on it from the Stampin’ Up! Hostess set – Simply Sketched. It’s a set you may have missed seeing in the catalog – since the hostess sets are now in the very back I think they aren’t noticed quite so much. I know I keep forgetting I have it.
Here is what I used on mine:
- Soft Suede card base
- StazOn Jet Black ink, Soft Suede & Pool Party Classic ink for watercoloring
- Ovals Collection Framelits
- Large Oval punch
- Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Paper (the Pool Party strip), Modern Medley Deisgner paper (the music strip), Neutrals Collection Designer Paper Stack (the Soft Suede strip)
- Naturals White card stock – what the bird image is stamped on
There are three greetings in the stamp set – I chose to use the sympathy one, but there is also a birthday and a thanks. It makes this a very versatile set.
It’s going to be a good one to use with the new Blendabilities Markers that will be coming out some time this quarter from Stampin’ Up! They are our new alcohol based marker sets. There will be 12 colors ( I think to begin with so I believe more will be added later) coming in sets of 3 markers – each set has a Dark, Medium and Light version of the color. If you click on the photo below you should be able to read the colors on the larger version.

There will also be a color lifter and skin tone colors. These are in production here in the US and will be available sometime this quarter. I’ll let you know when Stampin’ Up! gives us more information.
Thanks for stopping by today.
