Technique Book

technique-book-cover-smallIt has been some time ago that I started a Technique Book.  As I teach various stamping techniques I incude a Technique Card with the class.  Lately I have been sharing new techniques as part of my Stamper’s Club meetings.  Sometimes I include them in my regular hands-on classes.  The book itself is a 4×6 photo album.  I created a cover for it – I used the Heartfelt Thanks stamp set in Bravo Burgandy.  An added bonus to the Technique Book is that we are also building a card stock sampler.  Each technique page is on a different color of cardstock and I include the name on the card so you will know what it is.

Here is an example of one we have done in the past – 2-step-stampin Two-Step Stampin’ –

In our first two club meetings this time we learned the Stained-Glass technique – which I shared on my blog last month.  This month we learned a Faux silk technique.

The stamp set is the Botanical Blooms from the SAB brochure.  We added texture to the card front using the Big SHot and the Eyelet plate from the Stampin’ Up! backgrounds 1 Texturz plates collection.  The card base is Basic Grey with So Saffron  and the Basic Grey Tafetta Ribbon.

If you are interested in learning a particular Stamping technique contact me today about hosting a Stampin’ Up! party for you and your friends and I’ll crated a project especially for you featuring the technique you want to learn.

If you would like to visit one of my Stamper’s Club meetings or find about more about being a member please contact me today.  We make some fun projects each month.  It is a great way to spend a girl’s night out.

Enjoy your weekend.  We have some gorgeous weather here.  Ryan and Greg just headed out to another soccer game.  Ryan still seems to be sore from his incident yesterday – he says his neck an back hurt a little.   And tonight we are having my birthday dinner since we have been busy every other night with one thing or another.

Smiles!

Sale-A-Bration – Polka Dot Punches

Hi everyone!  It’s Monday and the kids are back in school – we just had a week long winter break and I’m glad we can all get back to a routine again.  Morning came early but we all got up and out the door and no one was late!

Here is a Sale-A-Bration project that I created as part of my entry into the next Stampin’ Up! class challenge.    Remember the embossed colored buttons from a few weeks ago (click here) – well I decided to use that idea again on some little 3×3 love notes – I made one in each of the colors featured in the Sale-A-Bration Delicate Dots Designer Series Paper – So Saffron, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery.  The buttons using those colors didn’t have the pop of color that I wanted because they were so light.  So I turned to my Color Wheel to look at the Dynamic Duos and find a darker color that coordinated.  And the colors I used to marker my buttons were More Mustard, Brilliant Blue and Old Olive.  Here is a close up of the blue button:

The stamped flowers are stamped in VersaMark ink and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.  Then punched with the 5-petal flower punch and sponged on the edges.  I think they turned out so cute.

Embossed Button & Stained Glass card

I told you about my embossed colored button the other day.  I showed my stamp club girls Friday night and showed my downline tonight.  I had both groups make the same card which also included the Stained Glass technique.  Some time ago I had started a Technique Book – in my classes and club meetings when I introduced a new technique they could also create a technique card for their books.  Each card is a quarter sheet of card stock and fits in a small 4×6 photo album.  I pre-printed the instructions and then in the class they would create a small sample to place on their card along with a full sized card (or project) that used the technique.  I had gotten away from the techniques a bit so I’m trying to make sure to include them again.  So for this months club meeting I showed them the Stained Glass technique.  I also used one of the new Texture Plates for the Big Shot – I LOVE those!  I went back to a stamp set that I haven’t used recently – Dreams du Jour – remember that one?  Here is the card we made:

Stained Glass card

Stained Glass card

Supplies:

  • Stamp Sets: Dreams du Jour
  • Inks: Versamark®, Stampin’ Write Markers: Old Olive, Regal Rose, Rose Red
  • Paper: Old Olive, Rose Red, Basic Black, Whisper White, Vellum Paper
  • Other:  1-3/4” circle punch, Eyelet Border punch, Black embossing Powder, Powder Pals, Heat Tool, Embossing Buddy, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Button Latte, Big Shot Die-Cut Machine, Stampin’ Up! Backgrounds 1 Texturz plates, Texturz Impressions Pad, Texturz Silicone Rubber, mini glue dots, clear embossing powder, small container, craft tweezers, embroidery thread

Stained Glass Technique:

Rub an embossing buddy over a piece of Vellum paper.  Stamp image in Versamark® ink and cover with black embossing powder or use a dark Craft ink with clear embossing powder.  Tap off the excess and heat set.  Flip the Vellum over and color the back of the image with markers. Let dry.

Adhere the Vellum piece to neutral cardstock with the embossed side face up.

I hope you like it!

Happy Stamping!

Colored and Embossed Buttons!

I discovered something new today!  I was playing with the new Button Latte buttons this morning.  I took the little white flower and was trying to add it to a card but it was just missing something.  So I thought what if I color it with a marker  and then emboss it with clear embossing powder – so I tried it and it worked – and now I have the cutest little flower button – and I can make the flower any color I want!  How exciting is that?  We will be doing this at my club meeting tonight so I’m not going to show you the whole card (I don’t want to spoil the surprise so I will post it after our meeting) but here is what the button look likes:

So this is how I made it – I poured a little bit of clear embossing powder in a small container.  Since a little bit of ink gets on it I wasn’t planning to put it back in my container.  I used tweezers to hold my button.  Then colored the flower with my Rose Red Stampin’ Write Marker and quickly dipped it into the embossing powder.  Then I heat set it with the heat tool.  I added a piece of matching embroidery thread to the center of the button.  I am one of those people that doesn’t like my button holes to be empty.  I debated on the color – I actually wanted to use black (there is some on the card) but I didn’t have any.  So I used the color that matches the Rose Red.  White would have worked too now that the flower was colored.  By the way the original button was all white.  These are the new buttons in the Stampin’ Up! catalog.
