I discovered something new today! I was playing with the new Button Latte buttons this morning. I took the little white flower and was trying to add it to a card but it was just missing something. So I thought what if I color it with a marker and then emboss it with clear embossing powder – so I tried it and it worked – and now I have the cutest little flower button – and I can make the flower any color I want! How exciting is that? We will be doing this at my club meeting tonight so I’m not going to show you the whole card (I don’t want to spoil the surprise so I will post it after our meeting) but here is what the button look likes:

Colored Embossed Button
So this is how I made it – I poured a little bit of clear embossing powder in a small container. Since a little bit of ink gets on it I wasn’t planning to put it back in my container. I used tweezers to hold my button. Then colored the flower with my Rose Red Stampin’ Write Marker and quickly dipped it into the embossing powder. Then I heat set it with the heat tool. I added a piece of matching embroidery thread to the center of the button. I am one of those people that doesn’t like my button holes to be empty. I debated on the color – I actually wanted to use black (there is some on the card) but I didn’t have any. So I used the color that matches the Rose Red. White would have worked too now that the flower was colored. By the way the original button was all white. These are the new buttons in the Stampin’ Up! catalog.
