Apr 13, 2010 | 2-Step Stampin', Big Shot, Cards, In Colors, Thank You |
I just received my Summer Mini pre-order and the sneak peek Awash with Flowers stamp set – now it is time to plan out projects for the upcoming months and the Create with Connie & Mary class. I played first with the Awash with Flowers stamp set – this is a 2-step stampin’ set that is a sneak peek from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog that will be out in July. I needed a project for my downline meeting that I had last night too. I decided to work with a sketch I found on the Stamping 411 blog for this week.
As you can see I have turned the sketch on its side for my version. I stamped the outline images first and then filled in with the solid images. I used a Stampin’ Write marker to fill in the flower stems and the little details coming out of the middle of the flowers.
Here is a full list of Stampin’ Up! supplies:
- Awash with Flowers stamp set
- Tiny Tags stamp set
- Itty Bitty Background stamp set
- Melon Mambo card stock and ink
- Bermuda Bay card stock and ink
- Basic Black card stock
- Whisper White card stock
- Staz-on ink Jet Black
- Rich Razzleberry ink and marker
- Old Olive ink and marker
- Scallop Trim Border Punch
- Black Gingham Ribbon
- Big Shot Die-Cut machine
- Perfect Details Texturz Plate
I thought it turned out cute – and bright and springy (is that a word). I made it into a Thank You card but this would be pretty as a Mother’s Day card too.
I have a few updates on the backyard birds – so House #3 has the bluebirds and they had 4 eggs before we left on our trip – I checked yesterday and mom is sitting on the eggs and there are still only 4 so she was done the day before we left. While we were away House #2 has a new nest in it – it appears to be a Chick-a-dee nest – moss and fur are in there – I just haven’t seen any birds going in or out yet – I don’t think there are any eggs in there yet. House #3 has a nest that was started before we left – looks to be a Tufted Titmouse – but I haven’t confirmed that yet either – it doesn’t appear to have any eggs unless they are buried.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Apr 6, 2010 | Cards, Stamper's Club, Watercoloring |
This is one of the cards that we made at the Stamper’s Club Meeting on Friday night. The stamp set is called 5th Ave. Floral and is one of four sets that Stampin’ Up! has on sale this month.
The flower is stamped three times on watercolor paper and then watercolored with an Aquapainter and Classic ink. Then different sections of the flower are cut out and layered with dimensionals to give it a very 3-D look. The base includes the whole flower, the second layer includes the center and four petals (the ones at 12,3,6, and 9 if you think of it as a clock face), the third layer is just the one petal in the front (at 6).
The idea behind this card and the bow were from Heather Summers a demonstrator in Canada that has various online classes – this was part of her current Simply Stamping class. The bow she calls a cheater bow because you really just fold the ribbon and then tie the button around it to create the look of a bow.
So here is a little more information about this months Stampin’ Up! special – Two-Step into Spring Promotion.
First there is a Hostess promotion – host a $350 workshop and earn a free stamp set called Awash with Flowers – a brand new set coming out in the next catalog.

Mar 10, 2010 | Big Shot, family, Rock 'n Roll, Wildlife |
I would have thought in March it would be easy to find green candy – especially jelly beans since Easter is coming soon. But no – it took some searching. I guess I should have bought some of those green M&Ms they had at Valentine’s Day (not sure what those were about) but I wasn’t thinking about St. Patrick’s Day then. I’ll have to remember that for next year. So I finally found Key Lime Jelly Beans – there are green and white ones in the bags.
Here are the little treats I made – this idea came from Julie Grenier. Aren’t they the cutest? I made some Easter ones (and will be making lots more before Easter), but yesterday I made some for St. Patrick’s Day. These are for my friends tonight that I’ll see at our St. Patrick’s Day themed Pokeeno night.
This project fits the Paper Pals challenge this week (at least I think it does) – it is a color challenge – to use Green – the color combo there is Garden Green, Certainly Celery and Kraft. Mine is similar – I used Garden Green, Green Galore and Whisper White.
The little shamrocks are stamped with the Rock ‘n Roll technique – I inked it with Green Galore and then rolled the edges in Garden Green before stamping. That gives it some variation in color which I like.
Stampin’ Up! Supplies are:
- Garden Green card stock, ink and marker
- Green Galore card stock and ink
- Whisper White card stock
- Holiday Blitz stamp set
- Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set
- Scallop Circle Punch
- 1-1/4″ Circle Punch
- 1″ Circle Punch
- white gel pen
- Modern Label punch
- Big Shot die cut machine
- Movers & Shapers Die and modern label shape die
- 1/16″ punch
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Apple Green grosgrain ribbon (retired)
Non-SU supplies are the 1×8 clear bags, white crochet thread, and jelly beans.
I just wanted to give you a few other updates – one is a bird update – yesterday the Bluebirds started building a nest in House #3. The female was bringing in pinestraw and was working it around inside the house – she only got a little done. Today it is pouring (really pouring) rain so I don’t know if she’ll work on it today. The other two houses in the yard are empty.
Second is a Tyler update – we picked up his tux for the prom yesterday – after we went to get x-rays of his finger. Yep for the first time in forever the boys were outside throwing a football and Tyler jammed his finger. Turns out his pinky finger on his left hand is broken. We have an appointment with an orthopedic hand specialist today. I don’t think it is bad but I guess I’ll know more after the appointment this afternoon. Hopefully he can still play his horn because the band has a concert performance next week.
Thanks for stopping by today! Maybe all this rain will help everything around here turn green – like the grass and the trees…..I’m ready for spring. My daffodils are coming up they should be popping their blooms soon.

He was invited to go with her family today. But decided to stay with us for my birthday tonight and spend the day with her tomorrow. Although I think it was maybe the fact that we are having steaks tonight that swayed him. Tyler made a rum cake for me yesterday it should be good tonight!

Mar 2, 2010 | Big Shot, Bleaching, Scrapbook Pages |
It is another Snow Day here in Georgia – yep another one – this has been the winter for snow all over the US – I think everyone has had more than normal. The schools closed early – Tyler and Ryan are already home. Kyle is on his way – I hope he gets here safely with no road troubles. The streets in our neighborhood were already getting slushy a couple of hours ago. And the snow hasn’t stopped since about 8 this morning – it was mixed with rain in the beginning but not right now.
So in honor of another Snow Day I’ll share my SNOW DAY scrapbook layout with you!
We made this layout at my Scrapbook class last week. The snow flake is from the Season of Friendship stamp set and stamped in Very Vanilla Craft ink randomly on the background. The background is Chocolate Chip.
I used Bashful Blue Patterns Designer Series paper for the wide strip and for the scalloped strip on each page.
The Jumbo Snowflake punched was used to punch snowflakes for each page – 1 in Chocolate Chip, 1 in Very Vanilla, and one in Close to Cocoa. The title is cut on the Big Shot with the Simple Letters Alphabet Dies – these are Chocolate Chip and are also stamped with the snowflakes. The are attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop them up off the page. I added a piece of Bashful Blue and Very Vanilla Grosgrain ribbon on the ‘O’ and the ‘D’.
The fun part was the snowmen – I cut a piece of Close to Cocoa card stock with the Top Note Die and the Big Shot. On each I stamped the Snowmen from Holiday Lineup in Chocolate Chip Craft Ink and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.
Then to make the snowmen “white” I used an aquapainter filled with Bleach! The bleach removes the color from the card stock and turns it into a vanilla color so they look like snow men. It was fun – you may need to go over them more than once to get the color that you want and make sure to use fresh bleach.
I plan to add pictures of the dogs – Aspen and Magnolia – playing in the snow when we had our last Snow Day – it was the light fluffy dry kind of snow. What we have today is wet snow. I hope you like the page – I really liked how it turned out.
Have a fun SNOW DAY!
