Jun 19, 2009 | Big Deal Alphabet, Retired List, Scrapbook Pages, Stamps |
Sorry for the lack of posts this week – we have had a medical issue arise with my husband and I have spent several days driving him everywhere for doctors appointments and tests. Hopefully on Monday we will know something more about what is going on.
Today I’m going to share some projects I have made over the past few years with the Big Deal Alphabet set. I really like to use this alphabet for scrapbook pages – it is big and easy for me to cut out – which I like to have mine cut. Then I can overlap the letters and raise some on dimensionals. Or stamp them flat and overlap and tilt – then you don’t have to worry about being in a straight line – I’m not good at that anyway. There is also a coordinating number set – so if you own the alphabet and want the matching numbers you need to get them now before they are gone….
The Big Deal Aphabet set also works for cards if you have a short word like – BABY, JOY, HI, SNOW, LOVE or an individual letter that you want highlighted. The samples below are from the past few years and show both cards, scrapbook ideas and 3-D projects. Some of the pictures aren’t that great but you’ll get the idea.
The LAST CHANCE lists of all the stamp sets, decor elements and accessories are HERE.
Hopefully I’ll be back on track with daily posts after this.
Enjoy your weekend and Happy Father’s Day!

Jun 14, 2009 | Big Shot, Blog Tour, class, In Colors, Retired List, Stamps, SU Ribbon, Wild About You |
Wild About You is another stamp set that is retiring this month and one that I think is so much fun. It works for cards, great for kids stuff and great for scrapbook pages too. Today is the last day for the Late Night Stamper’s challenge to use one retiring stamp set and create three different cards with it. So I just finished doing that with the Wild About You stamp set. We will make atleast one of these card at my Last Chance Stamp-a-Stack class on Friday.
The first card was an idea from Wendy that we made atleast 2 years ago and used the same 3-d layering technique that I did on the watercoloring cards I’ve shown lately. The lion gets stamped three times and you cut out his mane and his face seperately and layer with dimensionals.
The second card is a design from Stampin’ Up! and uses the In Colors – Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango and Pacific Point. The heart is punched with the Heart to Heart punch. The corduroy button in Pacific Point adds a little pop. The Tangerine Tango edge is done with the scallop border punch. Punch the edge once then slide it over and punch again and it gives it a jagged look like the teeth of the alligator – also a good way to cover up when you mess up aligning the scallop punch – you meant to do that!
The third card was my design – I have collected elephants since I was a little girl and love this little elephant.
Not sure why but I decided to do a pink and brown card and make it a new baby card. I don’t have any baby girls but the pink and brown seem to be popular for decorating these days when it comes to baby girls. I wanted the card to be a little frilly since it was a girl card so I added the eyelet border punch and the organdy ribbon. I also ran the littl close to cocoa piece through the big shot to give it some swirly texture. The Pink Pirouette DSP and the white layer of card stock are sponged on the edges with the Pink Pirouette ink. The elephant was edged with the Regal Rose marker before I stamped it but it is hard to see in the picture.
I have a new Class Kit to Go ready and will send that information out to my email list later today and post on my blog tomorrow. I hope you are having a good weekend.
Hey did you notice that I am a PRINCESS now? See the crown at the top of my side bar…
The girls that are on the next Blog Tour all have crowns! The tour will be in July for 3 days.
Happy Stampin’!

Jun 10, 2009 | Big Shot, Circle Scissor Plus, Designer Series Paper, Heartfelt Thanks, Retired List, Stamps, SU Ribbon |
So yesterday I tried to accomplish several different things at one time – I wanted to create a card for the Stamping 411 challenge, I wanted to create a card (actually 3 cards) for the Late Night Stampers challenge and I wanted to start on my card designs for my class later this month using the Last Chance stamp sets that I have and that we will be using in my Stamp-a-Stack class.
The Late Night Stampers challenge was to use one of the retiring stamp sets and create cards for three different
occasons using the same stamp set. I decided to use Heartfelt Thanks as my main stamp set but ended up using Hugs & Wishes with it – it is also retiring. Two of the three cards use the sketch from the Stamping 411 challenge.
And one of the three cards will be in my Stamp-a-Stack class later this month.
The inspiration for this card came from my friend Michele who is very talented and also a demonstrator. She loves sponging (I do too) and using the white gel pen. This card uses both the Heartfelt Thanks and Hugs & Wishes stamp sets. Colors are Kraft, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White. The Circle Scissor Plus and the Big Shot were used in this card too.
The second card was based on the Stamping 411 sketch.
Again using the Heartfelt Thanks and Hugs & Wishes stamp sets. I used the Sweet Always Designer Series Paper and the colors include Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip and Regal Rose. The base of the card is Kraft since I had that left from the other card. The ribbon is wrapped all the way around and I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch a small slit at the fold of the card.
This creates a hole that you can feed the ribbon through to wrap around the front of the card. I then punch a hole with my paper piercer where I wanted the brad to go and put the ribbon inbetween the two prongs of the Rhinestone brad before putting it through the hole. I pulled the ribbon tight and then flattened out the brad prongs on the back. It actually worked out that on the inside of my card the prongs were hidden by the ribbon.
And then the third card for the Late Night Stampers Challenge also uses the Stamping 411 sketch. This time I used the Sweet Always Designer Series paper as the actual focal point of the card – the piece with the Always bird on it. I used Heartfelt Thanks for part of the greeting and the THANKS comes from the Chit Chat Rub-Ons.
To create my little accent on the Chocolate Chip strip I took a piece of the Regal Rose wide Grosgrain ribbon and frayed several inches of it. Then took the frayed portion and tied it around one of the little paper clips from the clips assortment.
Three different cards and I like all three. The third card you could basically create the same idea using the Always stamp set – Stamp the bird image in VersaMark ink on some Designer Series Paper and clear emboss it – or stamp it in a the ink that is slightly darker than the paper you are working with. Lots of possibilities. The Sweet Always paper happens to have the bird image on one of the patterns so I used that.
That’s what I have to share with you today. Don’t forget that Heartfelt Thanks, Hugs & Wishes and the Sweet Always Designer Paper are all retiring so order today by visiting my website – www.monika.stampinup.net – and click the SHOP NOW button or contact me by email or phone and I’ll place the order for you.
Have a creative day!

Jun 9, 2009 | family, Retired List, Seeing Spots, Stamps, Uncategorized |
This is a fun stamp set called Seeing Spots that is retiring this year. It has a variety of circle images and “thank you”. It works great with our circle punches. It also has a coordinating Jumbo Stampin’ Around Wheel called Spot On. I most recently used this for the teacher gifts I made the other week – the boy version for Ryan’s male teachers. I used one of the circle images to decorate the scratch paper. Here are some of the projects that I have made with it over the last few years.
If you are interested in purchasing the Seeing Spots stamp set – you can order online at my website – www.monika.stampinup.net – click on the SHOP NOW button or send me an email to place an order for you.

Don’t miss this fun little set!
Last night I had a great downline meeting – we talked about some business topics and then stamped with the new In-Colors and one of the new stamp sets. I’ll be sharing more about that later this week. As a demonstrator we get to order sneak peek items from the new catalog. I would love to grow my team so if you are interested in learning more about becoming a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator please contact me and I would be glad to answer your questions. You don’t have to live near me to join my team – I will offer you support any way that I can. You can also visit my website to find out more about Stampin’ Up! – there is a link in the side bar on my blog that takes you to my website – www.monika.stampinup.net – where you can view some information videos.
Just a little family update – I guess you can say Kyle’s Senior Year of High School has officially begun – yesterday we went and had his Senior pictures made. Formals, informals, and outdoors photos were taken yesterday. And with that begins all the out pouring of money….we paid for the sitting…I don’t know how much the actual pictures are going to be. Ryan has a busy day – tennis camp, then later this afternoon a tennis match for his u-14 team, and then tonight soccer tryouts for the u-14 select team. So I will be in an out all day and driving all around town.
Have a fun day – I’m hoping to do a little bit of stamping soon – these are on my list – the 411 blog challenge, the late night stampers group challenge, Simply Punches class projects – there are 7 or 8 already and I haven’t even done one of them yet, prep for my Thoughts & Prayers class, finish up the May to Go class and get the June to Go class toghether….hmmm…that’s more than I thought I had on my list…the stamping never ends…thank goodness I love doing it so I really don’t want it to end……

Jun 4, 2009 | Heartfelt Thanks, Retired List, Stamps |
Every year when Stampin’ Up! puts out the retired list of stamps sets – I go through the list to see which of my sets are now leaving the catalog. It is sad that because stamp sets that I love to use and show are now not available for everyone to buy any more. So before you miss the chance to get a great stamp set – I want to showcase some of my favorites on my blog this month.
First is Heartfelt Thanks – this was one of the stamp sets I got in my starter kit when I signed up to be a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. It was the first set I used to demonstrate at my first workshop and one that I have used every year since I joined. I was not a good photgrapher way back then and do think that my camera and my skills in that area have improved – so some of these older pictures aren’t that great. And I’d like to think my stamping skills have improved over the years too. Heartfelt Thanks is a beautiful 2-step Stampin’ Set and here are some of the cards I have made with it over the years.
If you are interested in purchasing the Heartfelt Thanks stamp set – you can order online at my website – www.monika.stampinup.net – click on the SHOP NOW button or send me an email to place an order for you.

I hope you have a wonderful evening. I am creating the projects for the stampers club meeting that I have tomorrow night. It is always so hard to decide which projects to do – there are so many great ideas to choose from. Back up to the craft room for me…..
